Yeah, I wanted to pledge, but decided not to at the end...  It's just a variant cover, not my thing.  I rather buy the Vita game when it's for sale for real (not to mention it will be cheaper).

I'm not one of those who think Kickstarter is terrible, but I'm a lot more wary of it nowadays. Of the three projects I've backed, one went great (Shovel Knight), one is still in progress but looking good (Skip Beat!), and the other one was Mighty no. 9.

So glad I skipped Mighty No. 2, it wasn't even worth the 8 bucks on sale at BB a few days ago.

Got my Oddworld 3 pack in today. Also got my order in from Heavy Arm: Dragon Quest Builders, SAO Hallow Realization, and SD Gundam GGG.

It's been a good week on the Vita front.

My Oddworld bundle just arrived to my post office this morning, so it should go out later today, or tomorrow at the latest. This is hands down my fastest ever LRG release. I don't think I've ever got the shipping notice and then received the game within a few days of that.

Probably still going to be 39.99 with $5.25 shipping. Vita Visual Novels generally go for 39.99 anyway.

Well... LRG could end up charging the same $40 + shipping just like Skullgirls 2nd Encore.

Yeah, I think it should be anticipated that, not only Sharin no Kuni, any of the impending Japanese Visual Novel releases coming to the Vita from LRG will likely be priced at $39.99. The prices are set pending the financial obligations and terms set by the developers with whom LRG partners with. They have already established that $24.99 is the base pricing on their Vita releases, for which we have seen many released so far at this price, but have also seen a couple to date released at $29.99, and the Skull Girls 2 game pre-order sales only at $39.99. I have not heard or read anything from LRG officially concerning a top-end price limit on any releases they may do, and highly suspect we will never see them ever declare such. While I'm certain they, LRG staff, would prefer to keep their releases at a reasonable price point to attract as many potential sales as possible, the reality of the situation is that games such as these being initially offered as crowd funding projects are likely to not receive a general public LRG offering for less than what the lowest price point a physical copy was being made available to the people pledging money through the crowd funding offering.

Really, if you think about this, it wouldn't go over well with the people who pledged/gave money months, or even years, in advance of the product offering if after their physical copy was sent to them, a significantly cheaper copy of the same game was made publicly available. However, there are ways to negate buyers' remorse of those who crowd funded to begin with. In the case of Sharin no Kuni, we have been told that the game KS backers will receive will have a exclusive cover art variant, and likewise the "special" (aka collector's) box will be exclusive for those who pledged for a tier in which it was included. To me, this further indicates that whenever the public LRG offering for Sharin no Kuni on Vita goes up that it will likely be just a standard release of the game in alternate cover art, no art book, no soundtrack CD. Well, maybe they will offer the soundtrack CD as a separate purchase as many of the LRG releases have already done, but only time shall tell.

Another set of crowd funding appeaser examples can be found with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. KS Backers of it have been promised a KS backer exclusive slipcover for their copies. But it doesn't end with that, the KS Backer copies of the game will, allegedly, have a exclusive end-game boss. No I'm not personally counting on them to produce two game cartridge variants (KS Backer and Retail) of Bloodstained, although that would be awesome. I think it more likely that KS Backers will receive a DLC redemption code to add the "exclusive" boss to the game as a downloadable add-on. But I would be very happily proven wrong if they do end up producing an alternate game cart for those of us who crowd-funded the game with the special boss already on it.

That sure is a lot of words for "I agree." :D

Thoughts on Muramasa Rebirth? Considering it with the current PSN sale.
Its basically Muramasa on the Wii. The DLC content might be cool? Didnt play them.

Didnt play Muramasa? Get it, Muramasa is a visually impressive, fun game that can feel a bit same-y across both characters. But you have to play both characters to unlock everything.

It's a vanillaware game, so it's like Dragon's Crown and Odin Sphere. Not really much RPG elements involved. It's a sidescrolling action game. For the $10 asking price on PSN it's a good buy.

One caveat about Muramasa, it lost it's appeal about halfway through to me. It's gorgeous and plays well but I just got really tired of it and it's unusual for me to get annoyed when a game is too long.

I have this in my backlog for my vita for a while now and just haven't gotten around to it, but I when played the original on the Wii, I enjoyed quite a bit, but couldn't get back into because it was so awkward to play on the wii-mote; especially with all the different controls they tried to squeeze into that tiny tihng.

You can buy games on GS.com and return in store right?

Try using promo code SAVER

It should give free shipping at $25 instead of $49.99.

In the past it would stack with CAG16 and you get a 16% discount (used only) on top of free shipping, but I have not been able to get this to work lately.

May be cutting it close with the certs expiring on the 31st...

Personally, I really liked Muramasa: Rebirth. It's a port of the original version of the title on the Wii, along with a bonus DLC campaign. It's a Vanilla-ware game, with all that that entails. Basically, it's Japanese style front and center, along with some truly stunning hand-painted art. The gameplay is tight and responsive, but can be a bit repetitive for anyone who only cares about advancing through the game. The focus of the gameplay is in exploring the world's map in a Metroid-vania way, while constantly getting placed in brief 2D arena fights where you are graded on your performance. If you are only interested in grinding through the story, and don't care about the combat, this experience can get quite tedious. The value in the game is when you start exploring the possibilities of the combat, and trying to master it. In this case, the constant combat encounters become much more appealing, and the challenge becomes not simply to grind through each battle, but to complete each battle as dominantly and stylishly as possible. Once you get into this sort of rhythm, you walk into every battle with a sense of anticipation, instead of frustration, and you walk out of them feeling like a champion, with the post-battle synopsis relating your glowing achievements.

The sword system in Muramasa actually works well with this gameplay loop. The different swords have different useful special moves, as well as different limitations for play style. So mixing and matching them actually has real meaning for gameplay. You aren't forced to change swords or forge new ones, but those who do will be able to dig deep into some pretty nifty gameplay permutations. And mastering sword-changing mid-battle is one of the keys to really mastering the combat system.

Overall, I would definitely recommend the game, especially if you have ever enjoyed any of Vanilla-ware's other offerings. (or have an unusual fondness for feudal Japan) The price they're quoting in this sale is very reasonable. The game also works on the PS TV (I've tested it) so it can also be enjoyed on the big screen.

The words "free shitting" made me giggle.

Finally thinking about updating to version 3.63 in preparation for new games for christmas.

Has anyone had any issues with the update?  Like battery loss?

Picked up 2 more games today....not happy about them being cart only...but I had GS Certs to burn before next week.

Ys Memories and Criminal Girls

If you find them complete in store, just ask to swap. If they say no, then buy them and return with the generic cases.
