Finally decided to move my PS4 to my main TV since the kids no longer play it. Put on Hellblade with my surround sound and, holy crap is the sound incredible in that game. Definitely a game played with either really good headphones or surround sound. Amazing stuff they did with that game.
Playing in surround sound still loses some of the impact of the sound design. If you play it with headphones the voices actually feel almost as if they are inside your head and not the game. Playing with headphones I'm just gives the game an even more amazing feel to it.

Big update coming to The Division tomorrow:

Today, Ubisoft announced that Update 1.7 for Tom Clancy’s The Division will be available tomorrow, August 15. The update will be free for all players and release simultaneously on consoles and Windows PC.

Update 1.7 will bring several new features to Tom Clancy’s The Division, including:

  • Global Events – The update will introduce a new event system that will challenge players to find new ways to play through time-limited activities and new gameplay modifiers. New events will be available regularly and will grant exclusive rewards on completion. Players will be able to activate additional modifiers for some missions and incursions, adding an extra layer of challenge that gives them a chance to yield more rewards.
  • Commendations – Previously called feats, commendations are part of a new built-in achievement system that provides players with a series of tasks and subsequent rewards.
  • Encrypted Caches – Caches are loot boxes with random customization items and emotes inside. Players will be able to obtain caches by gathering keys in the world, or they can purchase them with premium credits.
  • New Gear and Customization Options – New gear includes classified gear sets, new face masks and arm patches. Players will also be able to re-customize their agents for free at the barbershop.
  • Survival Improvements – New scoring items will allow players to achieve higher scores. And the reward economy has been reworked so that time investment is more on par with other activities.

Update 1.7 is the first of two free updates planned for Year 2 of Tom Clancy’s The Division. In addition to these major updates and in line with the development team’s commitment to continuously improve the game, Year 2 has already introduced several gameplay and quality of life updates and will add more in the coming months.

The first global event, Outbreak, will start on August 15 at 9 am PDT and end on August 22, and challenge players with new enemy behavior due to the severity of a virus outbreak.

The second expansion, Survival, will be free this weekend – from August 18, 6 am PDT to August 20, 12 pm PDT – simultaneously across all platforms. During this time, all players will be able to access the expansion for free and experience a completely new way to play the game with survival mode. In this session-based mode hosting up to 24 different players in either PvP or PvE, agents are stripped of gear and must survive both the hostile environment and the threat of other agents and deadly hunters scattered around the open map. Finding supplies, warm clothes and survival equipment is vital as players attempt to make it out of the Dark Zone in the midst of a devastating blizzard.

Survival is part of Tom Clancy’s The Division Season Pass and can also be purchased separately. In conjunction with the free weekend, there will be discounts on Tom Clancy’s The Division standard and gold editions, season pass and stand-alone expansions.

Kiwami is going to be my first Yakuza game and I am really excited. The series always looked right up my alley but I never got into it because I am a stickler for playing games in order and by the time I realized I wanted to check the series out I no longer had a working PS2. Really hope Yakuza 2 gets the same treatment since it's only playable on PS2 as well it seems.
If you can get past the Japanese, 1 & 2 also got ported to the PS3 in Japan as Ryu ga Gotoku 1 & 2 HD. Japan also got this for the WiiU... but again no english. PS3 is region free... WiiU is region locked. The PS3 version can be bought on Amazon for usually pretty cheap with prime and all. I think I paid about $20 for my copy and it was 3rd party prime so no overseas shipping wait.

10% off a 10$ card on pcgamesupply

barely worth it but a buck is a buck so I wanted to at least give you guys the chance to decide before it expires

I hope this isn't a trend going forward. Really like the 30% off that we're used to
this is the second or third I've seen over the last 2ish months

it's not like most of us buy anything else from them anyway so I'm sure it's a waste of their resources as a marketing strategy

I'm waiting to play it until I buy a 4K TV in a couple months.

Unfortunately I don't know a lick of Japanese so it's a no go for me :(

Just have to hope for a remake or for some bizarre reason a localized port.

If you want to play the series in order, you'd need to start with Yakuza 0 since that's the first game in the timeline.

Ah I guess reading my post I should clarify I mean release order more than timeline. I've found in every series I've ever played where there is a prequel released years into the life of a franchise that I greatly enjoyed the prequel more by having already played the other games in the series. Prequels always have references and such that you only get by having played the other games.

If you're looking for an underrated game from the Totally Digital sale that ends tomorrow, I've been playing Skylar & Plux and it's a pretty good 3D platformer. It has a vibe of Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter to it within the hero & buddy platformer subgenre, though I'd probably put it in the Jak & Daxter camp overall in terms of being melee-focused with a spin attack and all that. Levels are pretty big, though not open world sandboxes like Jak & Daxter's world. The story and overall presentation isn't as good, but I don't really expect that from a smaller indie game. For under $5, it's a good pick-up if you're in the mood for a 3D platformer.

Finally got in on it for once. I miss when they did the 7$ card at least once a month.

yeah that would be a shame if they only do 1$ off going forward.

Huh this is news to me.

Just Cause 3 expansion pass worth it?
Probably only if you care about getting 100% of the trophies. The rocket powered wingsuit and the mech are fun but there are only a few story missions plus province liberations per DLC pack. The mech can also make getting the rarest boat in the game less of a headache. The framerate does seem to take a massive hit whenever you use the mech in combat situations though.

Do you mean 100% as in 'all DLC', or 100% as in platinum? because i'm going for the plat but don't want to buy the dlc....

All DLC. You don't need any of the DLC for the Plat but the mech and rocket wingsuit can make things a bit easier when you're going for the collectibles. They don't affect the base game's challenges though.

yeah of course. I replaced it with new pad cushions and cleaned it with alcohol wipes and rubbing alcohol witth q tips. So far no ear infections lol. You guys need to shop at goodwill. They're are spot for video game items, especially retro games.
The cushions on my golds are wearing out. You can see the foam padding poke through here and there. Where did you pick up a set to fit it?

Huh, can't seem to edit my post. I was just gonna say that 4 minutes of searching popped up a few Gold replacement pads between $20-25.

That seems kind of crazy since you can get Golds on sale for as low as $45 or so. I guess that's the way things work, though. I really like my Golds for those of you who didn't ask...

Also, someone tell me i'm crazy to spend $24 to give No Man's Sky a second look. I kind of enjoyed it at release but got bored and traded it in. I was intrigued and fascinated by what it could do and also disappointed at the same time with its limitations.

Today’s sale will probably determine if I get Undertale. Know it’s supposed to be fantastic but not sure if it looks like it’s for me. Also kind of hard to tell with a lot of reviews being a little vague due to not wanting to spoil it.

Oh. ok. Well, I do really like JC3... but I think I like $10 more than buying the DLC because the game is so full of content I don't think I need more when I'm done. So many challenges. I've done most of the hardest, at least. I feel like it's 'trophy cleanup, the game'... thankfully i'm having a blast.

Have Alien Isolation on disc but want to play the DLC. Does buying the Collection simply make the season pass content available for download separately (i.e., I can still use the disc), or would everything have to be downloaded?

Anyone playing Lawbreakers? Is there a decent community?
Yes very much so. Did you try the beta? It's the best multiplayer shooter I've played since Titanfall. Think a mix of that with Overwatch characters except you're in the air most of the time. It's exhilarating I hope people grow the community like Rainbow Six. They're promising free DLC for its lifespan as well. It's Cliffy B's new game.

Are you concerned with space? Because the disc still installs on your PS4 anyway, it’s just that you need to have it in to play. So not sure why you’d still bother with the disc after buying the digital version anyway.

Picked it up last night and for some reason it was slower than shit downloading so anxious to give it a shot tonight.

I pretty much just have challenges left to do but I'm giving it a rest for a while. Probably go back and try to complete a few a day while playing other games. It's a fun game but there's TOO much to do in my opinion.

Yes: I don't buy a lot of digital, but my HD is mostly full right now with game installs. I already own/have completed the game on disc (it's still installed) and just want to play the DLC at this point. Not sure how buying the Complete edition will affect the disc install, whether it needs to be deleted, etc.

I'm mostly the opposite. I've cleared the main islands and have done maybe 80% of the challenges [enough that everything is unlocked, but still have a lot to do] and have 80% of the collectibles. I've barely advanced the story. I've done most of the superhard challenges....

One thing I really appreciate is that the challenges really do 'make you get good'... the first time i tried a wingsuit challenge I was like 'nope, not even going to worry about a platinum'... but now I could probably do that one with my eyes shut. That said, there are definitely some -hard- ones, one in particular took hours to get.

I do not understand the hate this game gets. The slowdowns are rare and, given the amount of destruction on screen, understandable. It's never been an issue.

Damn didn't know there was a beta. I want to give it a go, but I know that getting another multiplayer will just make my backlog sit there waiting.

The surge at 35.99. You guys think the digital will ever go lower? Not interested in physical.

Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
Of course it will go lower. Just depends on how long you want to wait.

Great game IMO.

On another front, Sony Rewards also is having problems. Trying to use some points for more credit but won’t process once I hit submit on the final page of the checkout process.
