Wanna add the whole Dark Souls series. The price is okay, but I got this huge backlog and already have several games on preorder.

Waiting could be good as price could go lower on DS III.
 
It's kind of ridiculous just how blatant the set up of their mode is. With PUBG officially being the biggest game on Steam currently, I wonder just how many copycat modes we'll see in the big franchises, on top of what I'm sure will be the new survival/crafting epidemic of early access games.

Already we have GTA V and Fortnite. The Darwin Project was announced at E3. Out of the big boys I could see Red Dead Redemption 2, EA stuff like Battlefront/Battlefield, maybe Square Enix trying with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I think it might be to hard to adapt to already existing shooters since you need a huge map, but maybe some vastly minimized version could make it into the many console focused shooters. It seems like it'd be easy enough in something like Halo 5, if they could easliy randomize weapon spawns around a big Forge map. Open world games would be an easier transition, but most of those don't have more than 4 player support already built in, if that.

Outside of Battle Royale talk, I did grab that Star Wars DLC, though I don't know when I'll get around to playing it. Hopefully it keeps a population after 2 is out. I assume it will since it's so cheap now, even physically.

It wasn't, PS3 was the only console to get an HD version, with the Wii version a couple years before. Capcom has pretty clearly demonstrated they aren't doing BC on anything that they can sell to a dedicated or big fanbase. Only stuff that they don't have plans for re-releasing like the Dead Rising 2 XBLA games, or games that flopped like Dark Void. I'm curious how Mega Man 9 and 10 made it to BC, I'd guess they just weren't planning the Legacy Collection 2 until the first one did better than expected.

Ubisoft will definitely add a BR mode. They've been wanting to do it even before PUBG was a thing, and a few months ago they talked about adding it to their current games that are already released.

It's kind of ridiculous just how blatant the set up of their mode is. With PUBG officially being the biggest game on Steam currently, I wonder just how many copycat modes we'll see in the big franchises, on top of what I'm sure will be the new survival/crafting epidemic of early access games.

To be fair, survival/crafting games have been 90% of the games in early access from the start. That said, adding a mode that parachutes you in to a map that shrinks over time is a pretty blatant attempt to jump of the bandwagon of the "next big thing."

Not to mention 'copycating' modes is nothing new. How many games added a horde/wave mode after Gears of War 2? Tons.

Gif is not accurate. I can understand all of my 99% chance shots missing, but the enemy's shots should all be direct hits :p

Already we have GTA V and Fortnite. The Darwin Project was announced at E3. Out of the big boys I could see Red Dead Redemption 2, EA stuff like Battlefront/Battlefield, maybe Square Enix trying with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I think it might be to hard to adapt to already existing shooters since you need a huge map, but maybe some vastly minimized version could make it into the many console focused shooters. It seems like it'd be easy enough in something like Halo 5, if they could easliy randomize weapon spawns around a big Forge map. Open world games would be an easier transition, but most of those don't have more than 4 player support already built in, if that.

Outside of Battle Royale talk, I did grab that Star Wars DLC, though I don't know when I'll get around to playing it. Hopefully it keeps a population after 2 is out. I assume it will since it's so cheap now, even physically.

H1Z1, King of the Kill, "Battle Royale" has been it's own genre for a fair time now. Fortnite at least has the building aspect to differentiate it from the others.

Yeah that's the huge thing about them adding that mode for Fortnite. You can build stuff and most likely you'll be able to build a couple of distractions too lol. I wonder how everyone gets resources - like everyone gets a set 100 of each wood, stone, metal - or you'll get more, weapons & traps in chests. The chests have a distinctive sound, it's a magical melody in my opinion, by the way so play this game with a headset! Lol OHHH SHIT I'M SO EXCITED!

The only thing I'm actually wondering how they'll do it is ammo. It's pretty much always comes down to ammo in the base game and nuts & bolts are like the duct table from Fallout rarity/usefulness. You can get nuts and bolts by harvesting mechanical stuff so I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say there'll be people getting shot for trying to harvest a car while the car's alarm goes off lol.

Sure, but like the above mentioned explosion of Horde modes, it took something really blowing up in popularity to start the trend of the big publishers jumping on the bandwagon. I know this kind of mode started gaining some steam with"Hunger Games" servers on Minecraft a few years back.

 
I was watching stuff about Fortnite and am still unsure. I’m not big into resource management / Minecraft like building games. I love the idea of forts but would almost rather just pick one out and have the game do it for me. :)

How much of the crafting and building aspect is there to the game?

Same. That's why I'm going to wait until the game fully releases and is F2P. At that point, there's no risk in trying it out, except for a little bit of lost time.

I would consider buying Fortnite at the $30 in the sale if so many games weren't on the horizon on top of Destiny 2 having just released. $30 is really the price the basic version of the early access versions should have been max. $60 for a F2P game is ridiculous.

 
Fortnite is pretty amazing. Well worth the $30 code and $20 add on I got. I also spent $10 for a legendary llama.

My nights go:

"OK - just one more match". 3 hours later: "fuck!"

20% crafting, 80% fighting but you can actually make it almost any range of percentage you want depending on your playstyle. There might be a few missions where you are forced to do some light building, but you could technically never build anything in a lot of missions and just treat it like a 3rd person horde mode. The building and trap type stuff is actually simple enough and fun enough that you'll want to do it. I don't like Minecraft, but really enjoy the building in Fortnite.

They're doing server maintenance. It was originally scheduled to end 2.5 hours ago, but they ran into issues and it got extended. New estimate per their twitter is 2pm PT/5pm ET for servers coming back online.

While it can be construed as being "KEK", it can also be construed as a "skip forward" symbol followed by four horizontal lines followed by a backwards "skip forward" symbol. That article suggests something much more sinister and I DOUBT there is anything sinister here. Journalism with a heavy helping of conspiracy theorism. I just hope it doesn't end with someone from Activision or Bungie issuing a formal apology.

But regardless, I look forward to getting those gauntlets (after the fix I guess) because they look bad ass. :)

EDIT - And I think someone applied a green themed shader to that gauntlet to stir the pot a little...

It originated with Starcraft and then became a joke because of World of Warcraft, since Horde and Alliance can't chat with each other you see messages from other players as mostly gibberish but some words had concrete meaning. If a Horde player says lol in chat an Alliance player sees it as kek. Has nothing to do with 4chan other than the fact that WoW was the biggest game for a long time and plenty of people on 4chan played WoW.

All the modern political stuff with it is just embarrassing, it's idiots trolling other idiots. Everyone associated with it should feel bad.

I think it has more to do with it resembling a Nazi symbol than anything. A game can get into some pretty deep stuff with Germany over something like that. Nazi symbolism or even look alike stuff will bring things down pretty hardcore on them, even so far as banning the game in the country.
