the console, power cable, av cable, and controller; sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3ds xl trade would be console, charger, stylus. Some have reported being charged refurb fee for a stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

It’s not great but people shouldn’t look at one step and say whole process is dumb. That is like judging the whole car making process by only being exposed to how a new battery delivers electricity to start a car.

Also, my favorite thought about people complaining about common core. “I memorized that 7x8 is 56. If it worked for me then it should work for you” when I saw that comment it clicked why we needed something diff. Maybe not common core, but something different. Society hates math. If we keep teaching it the same way, that won’t change.

I’m assuming the next comment will include how we still haven’t heard an intelligent person say common core is good. :)

I doubt you would care about my credential but I teach in a higher ed stem field. What matters more then my background is that I can have the idea that people suck at math and if we do the same thing, we will get the same thing

Edit: crap, I just ranted in a video game website. Oh well. Just pretend I said the values suck.
I agree with a lot of that.

And TIVs are aweful.

The common core way of teaching math is good for learning to multiply large numbers in your head. The way they break down that act by digit and then add the totals together is the way I’ve always done it myself when I don’t have a pen and paper or calculator handy.

I did it!!!!! Holy crap is the gauntlet tough.

What game is that?

It's a good thing you don't teach grammar and spelling.

Going to drop in trade in my Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 and Rayman Legends for Switch. Picked them both up for cheap at the recent Best Buy sales. I've barely played either game, but $24 and $18 respectively before any promotions is pretty good and I need to use this B2G1 free coupon before it expires.

I used to talk crap about common core but realize I use it all the time to do math in my head on the fly.

I assume not based on listed promo terms, but has anyone confirmed 40% credit bonus does not stack with extra $5 credit for trading Switch games? Thanks

Could not get it to stack yesterday - its one or the other. ASL was nice enough to try entering the transaction several different ways. In the end he did 2 separate transactions. One for switch games with $5 promo and one for everything else with GoW 40% promo.

I was thinking this was the case myself. I am about to trade a couple of Switch games in after work and it seems like I will get slightly more with the extra $5 than I would with the 40% extra which is good for me because I already have God of War paid for at Best Buy and I don't plan on getting Labo anytime soon so I won't have to worry about pre-ordering a game and canceling the pre-order.

Since buying Amazon GCs with Gamestop GCs isn’t allowed by the system, can you use GS gift cards to buy other third party gift cards like Hulu and Netflix?

Does that work with say buying psn credit with trade credit?
Should work on all purchases. Anything you would normally get points on. And remember you get points both ways, so if your TIV is $100 and you use that to buy $100 of PSN credit you get points on $200. Normally that would net 6,000 points for elite, but with double points an elite PUR member would get 12,000 points.

Damn. So the console trade in boost ended yesterday? Saw someone selling xbone for $80, which nets $140 with the boost. Oh well.

Edit: Actually I’m confused. The ad shows ending date of 15th, but the value shows $140 in the app. Which is correct?

Edit 2: ok called my store and the SL said still $140. Odd.

https://www.gamestop.com/trade shows that the console boost is now lasting until 4/22, the same as cash for trade.

Weird, they just updated the trade in promo details to: "Get up to $80 more for your Xbox One or PlayStation 4 Offer valid through 4/22" Looks like it'll overlap for any trades on double points day this weekend now.

Not great for me, I just traded my PS4 this weekend and used credit to upgrade to a PS4 Pro right before the date allegedly ended.

I know the limit is you can trade in 4 copies of the same game in 30 days and then it resets but can I do more if it's on a different console?

Yes. It's per sku, which is a different number for each game on each platform. So yes you could trade in 4 copies of madden 18 on ps4 and 4 copies of madden 18 on xbox one in the same month. Not at the same time at the same store though, unless you want the ban hammer.

Has anybody seen any Disney gift cards recently? I went in to a few stores today but couldn't find any. I kind of remember seeing them a while back and even people here talking about using them for their vacations.

I think most of the conversation here was about transferring credit to BB and then buying Disney cards there.

I had not seen anyone post this, so apologies in advanced if this has been discussed. We knew this was probably happening based on their deleted tweet, but I just saw on the Trade Offers page that you'll get a guaranteed $40 trade-in coupon if you buy God of War (2018) from Gamestop between 4/20 - 4/22 (Friday thru Sunday). So sadly we can't buy it from Best Buy or Amazon to get the 20% discount. I plan to take a few trades in on Saturday to get the 40% bump by buying GOW, get double-points for both transactions, and then get the coupon to flip it back by May 22nd.

I was going to wait until I could find a used copy to pick up God of War, but with this $40 guarantee tiv, I might as well pick it up this weekend.

FYI :

60 / 1.4 = 42.86

In other words it costs $42.86 of base TIV to buy a $60 using a 40% boost. Provided your cost to acquire the $42.86 of base TIV was <= $42.86 then you surpassed the 20% gcu savings. If it cost you $42.86 to acquire the base TIV then your savings percentage is 28.6%, higher if it cost you less.

If it's $40 base tiv, then that's a good way to cash out points, especially for those who get stupid comments about how many points they have every time they buy something.

I think everything works except Visa, amazon and gas cards? I cleared out my last few hundred with netflix, eshop and four or five different food cards.

Hopefully this will include the console bundle...

Traded in a few games this past weekend and the employee was chill and put $5 on GoW standard for the 30% bump (Pro member). Even told me I didn't have to pick up if I don't want it. Used the rest of the credit to nab Xbox currency and Wipeout Omega Collection. Thinking about trading in a couple more games from the "most wanted" list to pay it off and pick it up anyway.
