How many copies of a game can I trade in?
​You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.
 
What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.
 
I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).
 
 
TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

The email showed both versions and the fine print said only valid for the standard $59.99 version, which has been mentioned a couple times in this thread.

It shows the limited edition then says underneath "this game" is eligible for the promo. False advertising at its finest.

It's not the end of the world for me as I planned on keeping 1, but I just can't cash out the rest of my points for my 2nd pre-order

Are you talking about the picture that was posted? I don't know why that only showed the limited but I am talking about the email I received.

The store I plan on buying SMM2 from and the store I plan on trading it to are both on the list, but I wonder if there are any restrictions like it has to be the same store for both transactions.

For Days Gone, my purchase and trade were in different parts of the country (PA and NC, respectively), and I had no problems

Good to know. I'd thumbs up you, but I don't think you can do that on the mobile site.

Do we need some sort of promo code or coupon to do the full $60 trade in, or just the receipt showing that we bought it on launch day and are within the 48 hours?

I wouldn't mind keeping SMM2, but I already bought it digitally.

Ohhellyeah. I have so many games right now for flipping. I just hope they don't put up a better deal next week, GameStop hss as tendency to do that

For Days Gone, there was a code on the receipt.

 
Crap so it's only the stores in that link that are running the 59.99 promo? There are a couple 30 miles away but that's a bit of a drive. Not sure better than 42 per game is going to appear next week so it's probably worth going for it. A 50% would bump values up to 51 for elite, which I can't see happening. Hoping we at least get a good b2g1.
 
To me, it's weird how none of the legal text says it has to be done at specific locations, and none of the banners/emails seem to mention specific locations only.

 
Has anyone bought it at a store listed and got a code? My store called me Wednesday talking about this promo, but now they arent on the list and I didnt get a coupon code on my receipt. Worse case scenario I'll just return and wait for a preowned copy to show up to use my bday coupon on.

For whoever asked about Wii Sports refurb fee its $5 so get $13.20 with 40% or $10.60 with 20% bump.  

 
I'll just trade in my stuff towards CRASH TEAM RACING. At best we'll get 50% total trade in promo for 4th of july promo and there might not be a SB.

EDIT: I'm honestly being paranoid about the possibility of a promo happening on Monday. I want to wait because SB usually last until Monday. I don't want to go through the trouble of returning a game.

I made that mistake once. I traded in my games on a Friday and they ended up having a bonus trade promo on Monday. I ended up losing about $35 because I didn't wait. Will definitely never do that again.

I have to go several miles to get a store that does. You'd think the emails going out would be at least based on your home store.

I’m in the same situation. The store I got my copy from didn’t even know about SMM2 having this promo. They said the last promo like this was Days Gone.
 
I don't know if this is true or not, but the store leader at my gamestop said that the code for the Mario maker promo is tied to your account. If it's not, he said they have a code to scan. My store was listed in the promo email, but no code printed on my receipt. Just relaying the info that was told to me.

Nah, if there was no promo code listed on your receipt and your store was on the list then that means the code they need to scan is needed to trade back in for $60.

And actually the $2k and $500 are just the limits that will leave you with a 90-day trade ban. You can go way over, but only in a single day as the ban usually happens next day.

Story of my life, I went in tonight when I picked up a pizza and traded in about $370 worth of switch games, Sekiro, Days Gone and RE2 towards SMM2. We'll see what promos are announced Sunday...I'm hoping for B2G1.

And yes, it is recommended you take the Redbox sticker off before trading in, and it can easily be done with a hair dryer or heat gun. 10 seconds direct heat from 6 inches away gives you 15-20 seconds to peel the sticker. I can usually get them off in a single piece, then clean up left over residue with lighter fluid.

GameStop has became more aware than ever before. Had a stealth “tank” last month and some games currently on the MWT list right now dropped in value...MLB19 for example

I doubt they’ll let us double dip especially on a bump weekend

Thanks for the Redbox flips !

I use the hair dryer for :xb1: games, but not :ps4: games. There is a risk of peeling cover art with this method with :ps4: games and you might get hit with a refurb fee. Just bring the games in without the redbox cases and you should be fine. I mix the redbox games with other games that don't have security stickers and some games that have cases and cover art. No problems trading in with this method.

Did the 4th of july trade in promo happen on a Monday as well with a SB? I'm super paranoid about waiting for the promo might be a big mistake.

 
so is the Mario Maker trade-in good through today or tomorrow? It says 48 hours and ends on 6/30 but I'm just confirming that it runs through Sunday and doesn't end in the morning or something....

Also, I can pretty easily grab it from a store on that list (kind of annoying and out of my way, but not a big deal)...but does it have to be traded in at a store on the list or can I do that at any store?
