• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I have not ever used it. I collect more than I get to play and I can sometimes take a long while to actually finish a game playing off and on as I do. It often takes me over a month to finish a game and I rarely spend over $20 on a game, usually watch for deals under $10 on my wishlist. Probably wouldn't save me any $s and as mentioned, I enjoy the collecting aspect, even if it is digital more now. But I will probably get over collecting at some point with gaming, same as streaming music and video like I do.

I start playing GTA V last night. It's my first Grand Theft Auto game. So far, I don't know what all the hype is about. It's cool switching between different people but the last mission was pretty ridiculous I was on a repo and there was a guy in the back of the car with a gun to my head and absolutely no one noticed even though I was crashing into cars. Oh and why in the world are they giving me instructions in the top left corner while I'm driving? I missed how to shoot that guy off the motorcycle and had to just figure out how to do it because I'm concentrating on driving not reading what's on the screen.

I know people love violence, blood, cussing, murder, death and destruction but so far, I'm not really getting the appeal of this game.

Not sure who it was a few days back asking if anyone else had slow menus after the most recent Xbox One update, but yeah, my system is completely borked. With the new dashboard, starting up games takes forever now and they fail to launch more often, just returning to the home screen with no message. Sometimes hitting the home button just dims the screen for 15-25 seconds before the menu finally pops up. I'll get a gray screen for about 20 seconds when clicking on my download queue. Everything just seems sluggish now.

Ok, I've had that exact same issue now myself as well. I honestly thought it was because the extra load on XBL with everybody being quarantined and all. Whatever online check-ins on the dash are being delayed by a few seconds. At least that's my baseless theory.

After having my system bog down even worse the past two days, I think I have a fix. Resetting the Xbox and doing the power cycle did nothing to help. I was browsing through the menus and checked my system storage and the Xbox internal drive was almost out of space. Perhaps with the last dashboard update or a game patch that I didn't notice, my internal hard drive space was down to 5 GB. The system seems to need 20-25 GB free on the internal drive to run everything smoothly. I moved a game off the system and now my dashboard is running decent again and games are launching quickly. I think I actually recall the same thing happening to me a year ago.

Hope this fix helps anyone else experiencing a slow unresponsive dashboard.

I just starting using it this month and like you, I thought this all seemed to be a huge pain. But after making Bing my homepage for work, I have started enjoying the daily facts and quizzes each morning. The bonuses were nice this month too apparently. I racked up over 10k in points mostly just checking it out everyday (I don't turn on my xbox everyday but make sure you check out the rewards app there too, it seems to have more earnings). I don't think it is cost productive in the grand scheme of things, but for making some homepage and search engine adjustments, it is now nice having a little extra digital game credit for the sales.

I started out just by using Bing whenever I had something to look up at work. Google is still a much better search engine but for basic stuff (spelling a medication, hours of a local business, etc) its fine. Eventually I had enough for a gift card and thought that was pretty cool, so I'm just more intentional about doing daily stuff. I don't go out of my way for any of it, but if it correlates to something I'd do anyway, then sure. Getting a few brand new games for $35 each helps.

If they are in your family account, you can actually transfer their points to your account once a month. There is a limit to the amount of points you can receive from family members, but I've used this to bump up my points quickly to buy funny money.

For me, I don't really care about the violence, etc., the appeal is more the scale and scope of the game. The world is so alive and nicely crafted. You can slowly trail random NPCs and listen to their phone conversations -- they're interesting and/or funny and it's just mind boggling how much dialogue Rockstar must've written and recorded for this. This is a game that released almost 7 years ago and it does things that most current games still can't do right. You can literally drive/fly/sail from one end of the island to the other with absolutely no load screens. Try to do that in Ghost Recon Wildlands...you can totally notice where the "load screens" are. Spiderman on the PS4 gets so much praise but have you guys noticed how all the entire game world pauses while Spiderman is in a fight? He'll be fighting dudes in a construction yard and you see that all the NPCs out in the street are paused in mid-step (or whatever they're doing); in GTA everything is constantly in motion. Gunfire inside a building means everyone outside reacts to it.

I don't think it's perfect though. Just as you mentioned, I personally feel like the controls could use some work. The whole concept of spamming the A button to sprint is tiresome. Just let us push down on the LS like every other game.

It really doesn't take long for most of the quests. If you have a basic achievement quest for any game, you just have to know which games will yield easy and quick achievements. Or just play something you've been wanting to play, and achievements tend to come naturally. I ignore most of the online only achievements and still usually get the 1000 point completionist reward.

Some are more trouble than others though. The Elder Scrolls online achievements come to mind. Would rather have replayed Skyrim. Most of the achievement-based quests are being replaced by specific in-game actions, which is extremely helpful for those who like to complete the games they play.

Searching for the day only takes about 5 minutes though. All in all though, you could probably average less than 15 minutes a day and complete the majority of given quests.

PS news but I know we have people who will care. Pretty much the entire story of Last of Us 2 leaked last night. A bunch of cutscenes and the rest of the main story in text form. Supposedly it's a build from March from a disgruntled employee, which isn't hard to believe with how bad the conditions at the studio sounded. Hard to confirm that but I guess there are developer pop ups in the footage. 

Sony announced today that the game will be releasing on June 19th now, clearly in reaction to the leaks. Some of the materials leaked said July 27th was the planned date, but it seems that Sony swapped it with Ghost of Tsushima to get it out sooner, as that game's date was just announced alongside TLOU2's.

Really, they're ed. Even with this accelerated plan it's more than 6 weeks out. FFVII was out in the wild about 9 days early and the spoilers had enough time to spread everywhere. They should have bit the bullet and dropped the game digitally on the planned date, and either shipped the physical copies early or apologized for some late arrivals. This just makes them look dumb since this new date is only a three week delay, with spoilers considerations no longer a factor. 

I would not recommend looking ANYWHERE about this as there are shitheads posting stuff in every comment section they can find, and GIF spoilers on Twitter to get around word filters.

I played it on PS3 And bought it again when it came out on PS4. Having experienced the story didn't make me enjoy it any less.

I feel like even if I knew the ending of Halo Infinite, it would suck but I’d still buy the game to play it, is that not how Last of Us is?

Last of Us does have great gameplay, but Naughty Dog's games are very story focused even by modern standards, and there are plenty of fans that are going to be devastated. I don't think it will tank sales, but they will lose some. They aren't literally screwed, but it just makes them look bad. There is no way this leak would have happened if they hadn't shit on their employees so hard.

I love(d) Halo's story but I don't think it's a good comparison here. Even die hard fans are primarily excited about multiplayer for Halo, especially in the current era. Last of Us has very solid gameplay, and even an MP community, but that mode was canceled to focus on the story. A huge spoiler for something that someone comes to mostly for story can be a detriment. Knowing the ending or some major plot point can really sour the experience.

The only people who are actually screwed are those that want to avoid spoilers for what is now SEVEN weeks and continue to browse the internet or YouTube. Personally I didn't see much, just one major detail, but I assume the quality of the game all around will make up for it. I'll still be buying the game.

The reason this is a bad argument is twofold. There are plenty of people who never played the the original. Also, if there are any changes from the original, there would be brand new spoilers.

I think it’s Last of Us 2 that got spoiled and not FF7. I’m trying to think of a game I’d be bummed if it got spoiled but I really can’t think of anything. I play a lot of games for the gameplay so I can’t think of how you could spoil my favorites, I guess maybe I’d have to compare it to a TV show I really like. If a show gets spoiled for me then I’m unlikely to watch it right away. I still watch it eventually usually though.

I am liking the new CoD story but I hated that level that plays like a horror game... you prob know which one I’m talking about if you played it. The one where you pick up the screwdriver on the floor. I’m not a fan of horror games and dang did that level feel like one.

People get very upset when individuals spoil a big Blockbuster movie. I would argue that a game is far more devastating given the cost and amount of time we invest in these games.

I've never played FF7 at all as that style of turn based has never been for me, but if I do decide to play it someday I certainly don't want to have it spoiled.
