General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 patch was released. You can now turn off ray tracing and motion blur to improve framerate. Also has the option to limit the framerate to 30 FPS. But doesn’t mean it would be stable so seems pointless. Should just allow it to go above 30 when it can.

Anyway, checking it out now.

Edit: Turned off ray tracing and it actually does seem to make a pretty big difference in framerate. Lighting takes a hit but still looks pretty good IMO.

Nothing cooler than hanging on the back of a griffin as it flies high above the ground while you’re still stabbing the crap out of him. Some of the most awesome combat I’ve experienced has been in DD2.

The B4B ultimate has shown that price for me all weekend.
 
Nothing too exciting but we have Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and Another Crab’s Treasure at the end of April. Both new releases I’m excited about.

Sometimes I wonder if it would be better for Xbox to announce them all at once.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 patch was released. You can now turn off ray tracing and motion blur to improve framerate. Also has the option to limit the framerate to 30 FPS. But doesn’t mean it would be stable so seems pointless. Should just allow it to go above 30 when it can.

Anyway, checking it out now.

Edit: Turned off ray tracing and it actually does seem to make a pretty big difference in framerate. Lighting takes a hit but still looks pretty good IMO.

Haven't messed with those settings yet, but I noticed pausing and going down to system had a save and continue option and a save and quit to main menu option. Those weren't always there right?

Harold Halibut looks like an incredible game I'm really looking forward to playing that and I always wanted to try Lil Gator Game so I'm pleased with these two additions along with Another Crab's Treasure and 100 Heroes. Plus I can play Dave the Diver and Tales of Kenzera: Zau with my PSN Extra sub. This is a fantastic month for me. Now I need to find the time to play them all.

HOLY SHIIIT Dave the Diver and Tales of Kenzera are huge gets, not gonna lie. Those are day one for me. I wonder if the PS Plus deal is what kept Dave the Diver from coming to Xbox?

Will check out Another Crab's Treasure and 100 Heroes later in the month. I'm expecting Star Wars Jedi Survivor to also drop into Game Pass at the end of the month but we shall see.

Oh ok wasn't sure guess I just assumed with the inn system and auto save they didn't have a manual save. Oh thats a good thing can't believe they didn't include that. Definitely some strange design choices for such a solid game

I liked Kona. Very interesting game. Even got the full 1000GS. It was made by some developers up here in the great white north of Canada. The game was already on Game Pass previously.

That is right. I forgot about that. I was going to play it and never had the chance, so I bought it when it was on sale.

I'm actually missing the achievement tied to this because I always kill them too easily. On NG+ now and will have to go out of my way to just ride one by firing my pawns lol.

Easily my GOTY already and knew it would be from the moment it was announced. What's wild is we're still discovering hidden secrets or outside the box thinking for ways to complete stuff. The thing I keep forgetting about would have helped as I was farming endgame last night, which is that the forgery guy can dupe any item in the game--including crafting components. My mage pawn would have been fully upgraded if I'd remembered this but for the most part, I was happy with my gear before moving on. Just wish NG+ had some semblance of scaling because the game went from mildly difficult to stupid easy.

Still, exploration is the core of the game and it's done so well it just blows my mind how many devs get it so wrong. Looking at you Starfield.
 
Forgot to mention that I did indeed purchase Penny's Big Breakaway over the weekend and the game is very fun. I played through the first world and two levels of world two. Definitely feels like a throw back to old platformers. Controls were really good and I enjoyed the level design so far. It feels really good when you can get into a rhythm with the movement and chain moves together. Recommended for anyone who likes a solid 3D platformer.
 
I have the amnesia collection on PlayStation plus but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Now that it's leaving game pass, I'm wondering if it's better to play on Xbox over PlayStation but Google's not helping me.

Tekken 8 added a battle pass to cash in on FOMO, but it’s somehow worse than the SF6 battle passes. Looks like anything actually good like character costumes will only be sold in the cash shop.
 
I just checked a couple of the Dewritos codes that were supposed to expire end of March. Games are showing up before I confirm so I'm sure the codes are fine for anyone that also has codes.

Got excited about the announcement of Lego 2K Drive being added but now I find out it's console only. Does anything get added to PC game pass later or does it tend to stay console only once it's put on game pass with that restriction?
 
I remember NORCO and Frog Detective trilogy were on PC or console for awhile before being added to the other months or even a year later. I'm sure there are more examples
 
So are we all thinking that the leaker mistook this different colored controller for the new and improved controller that is more like the Dualsense? I don't mind having to wait an extra couple of months since wasn't the original leak that it wouldn't be out until like July or something? As long as it's hopefully coming this year, I'd be fine with that. I just really want the damn thing!

Yeah I think we should hold our horses until July. Thank goodness for the leak because I would’ve bought another 3 or 4 controllers by now.
 
The new monthly Game Pass quests run for 5 weeks, until May 6, but only 8 weekly quests are needed for the Completionist quest. Only 36 of the potential 68 dailies are needed. Or maybe there will be a 69th daily quest. IIRC, in past years there was an extra daily on May 4 for Star Wars day.

Does solitaire not tick the 'play a pc game' box anymore? I play nearly every day and it went from sporadically working to seemingly not at all now.
 
Not sure if any of you guys use GameFlip for PlayStation games but if you create a Japanese account on PSN, there are Spider-Man 2 codes going for $12.75.

Pretty easy to create an account, log into it on your PS5, download it and then switch to your normal account to play.

I had a difficult time yesterday too. What worked for me was pulling up the redemption site for Microsoft codes, turn on VPN, enter code and submit.

Looks like I may be on the 15-min timer for Bing searches now. Either that or they’re limiting you from scrolling through the Trending with Bing tiles now. The way Microsoft constantly seems to be changing the rewards program is 🤬 stupid.
