From my experience, Amazon just punishes you for using free shipping. They'll hold off on shipping anything for a few days just in case you buy something else, so they can combine multiple orders.
That's lame.

Best Buy shipped my Dread via Fedex I found out this morning. I guess I'll be getting it next week, they are simply terrible these days. They shipped Nick All Star via UPS, so that will be here tomorrow.
I have had good experiences with Fed Ex. Walmart shipped out a game via Fed Ex Tuesday and it got here today.

it could ship anytime between the 11th and the 18th given my past history with amazon and preorders. I ordered fire emblem 5 houses from them and it didn't come till about 2-3 weeks later. arise said it wasn't going to come till the 21st-24th but came around the 14th. Shipping is super backed up still because of all the online orders, holidays gearing up and such so it's not too surprising. But I do feel like that between prime and having preordered a year or more in advance that stuff should come faster than it is. As much as I dislike gamestop with how difficult it has been to keep my preorders they sent most of my games I ordered this year within a day of release with the exception of Ys 9 and Scarlet Nexus which both still came around the same week of launch.

I still have a bunch of games still on preorder for gs and have to keep updating the payment every time they are ready to ship because their order system is so derped up.
Hmm. That makes no sense but okay. I will report back here whenever I do get Dread.

But when was it supposed to arrive? Fedex used to be the "next day" delivery service. The reason I'm not fond of them anymore is the delivery date they ALWAYS give is at least one day before it actually arrives, often more. If they said "two days" and I get it in two days, I'm fine. But if their own tracking consistently is wrong or inconsistent, that's an issue. This is what they do, logistics is their thing. Right now it says tomorrow, but if it is like usual, it will say that until tomorrow night late despite the tracking information clearly showing it isn't even in my town, let alone out for delivery. Then it will update to say something vague, then it will show up in the next few days randomly. And I'm not in some far flung rural area, I live in the suburbs of a very large city.

Nick All Stars was shipping from much further away at roughly the same time, but via UPS. I can practically guarantee it will be here tomorrow, probably morning around 11am.

Yeah Fed ex is experiencing some pretty serious staffing issues in my city. Packages from them are typically a week late. Right now my package shows as being in my city and estimated delivery tomorrow, but this hub has been a black hole for a couple months so I'm not holding my breath.

Woooooo look what came early!

Target said my order of Metroid Dread has shipped today and will be here tomorrow………………….

And they’re using Fedex smart post!

Fedex says Delivery Next Tuesday, it arrived in West Virginia Fedex... never seen anything go through West Virginia before

My last two FedEx smart post packages skipped the post office all together and got “delivered” directly. The first was marked as delivered and left at my door. I never got it. A couple days later a second package was marked delivered, but it wasn’t mine. They left me a package for a house a few streets down.

I called FedEx to fix and call the driver (it was delivered less than 20 min prior) and they insisted I had to call the merchant and report it as lost.

I ended up taking the package I did get to the right house and my package was sitting on their porch—so the driver made two screw ups on the same trip and didn’t think twice.
FedEx ground is the absolute worst. Anytime a merchant sends it via FedEx, I know it’s going to get stuck in Tracy CA for a week. The fuck is wrong with Tracy, CA?

Lucky you, I recognize the WV location too much because it is always where my package bounces between Maryland and WV for a week before getting to my state

I decided to try my luck at Target this morning and was able to walk out with a neon Switch OLED. Couldn't believe it. I love playing my 3DS, and I'm looking forward to finally being able to play the Switch in handheld and *see it*.

BTW I know no one actually talks deals here but at BB (Amazon price matched but sold out I believe) they have $10 off Skyward Sword, New Pokemon Snap and Smash Ultimate. These may not seem amazing but Nintendo loves to give paltry discounts. I was going to get the Pokemon Snap game for my niece, so this was nice.

New Pokemon Snap

Skyward Sword

Super Smash Bros Ultimate

MH Rise is also $39.99 new at Gamestop. Not amazing, but it just released this year. Expansion coming next summer.

Well, just got an email that my Metroid Dread shipped out and I will be getting it tomorrow. Used the free shipping when I pre-ordered it and initially my status said I would get it Oct 15th-18th but nope, getting it tomorrow! I did not plan for this as I am playing 4 other games at the moment and was going to have them finished by next week but throw those plans out the window! Dread will move into play right away.

If anyone here uses the Ibotta shopping app. Smash, Snap, and Skyward Sword each have $5 cash back offers. Goes for 2 more days. It would essentially make your price $35 before tax.

Ironically, it was Fedex that came through and my UPS order isn't arriving on time.  Dread got here mid morning from Fedex right on time.  UPS tracking says my Nick All Stars it will be delivered by 7pm tonight, but just left a UPS facility three states away a couple hours ago - so no way that will be here today, probably Monday since it likely isn't a weekend delivery.

Streaming some Metroid Dread, if you want to see that in action.

Edit: Archive is live.

Liking it a lot so far as they've improved things from what they did with Samus Returns. The counter stuff is still there, though now you can do a running counter and a parkour counter, as well. You do run into some one-on-one fights sort of like the constant Metroid fights in SR, though they're not as demanding as you'd think. They do start you off with some abilities like the wall jump and missiles, so you're more capable right away instead of just having the arm cannon. Got the charge cannon early, but you do get some new stuff to help you when EMMI are around. The EMMI stuff isn't as annoying as I thought it could be, but it seems like there's one in each section so you don't have to worry too much about getting swarmed. They continue the easy nature of getting health and missiles back if you lose them frequently, especially in boss fights. The main controls are still on the left stick, so ducking is still a bit slow and annoying at times.

Yeah I posted about it in Post #1705 earlier in the thread. I bought all except "New Pokemon Snap" (not my cup of tea) as $40 is like the cheapest Nintendo usually goes for 1st party games. I think MH Rise is a Switch exclusive right now (aside from Windows).

I've never even heard of Ibotta. Between Rakuen, Be Frugal, Swag Bucks and Microsoft rewards, I already have too many to choose from and I am sure better sites exist. I will research this Ibotta not to be confused with ciabatta.

It's mostly for grocery shopping though they've expanded it to retail stores.

You do need to reach $20 before you can cash out but you can deposit it to Paypal or get it as a gift card. If you do decide to sign up I can send you my referral link and you and I will each get $10. The grocery store part sometimes has 50 - 100% rebates. Last month I got crescent rolls, cookies, Fruity Pebbles and a 4 pack of yogurt for 50% off  some people had those offers completely free. It's a bit of work but it adds up.

I will check it out and let you know. Between baseball playoffs and Metroid Dread arriving today, it might take awhile.

I've had a great morning playing Animal Crossing in handheld mode on the Switch OLED. Such a nice screen. I can finally see it well.

The issue I still have though is the weight of it. My hands and wrists are not thrilled with me, at the moment. Any ideas? Do those grips people get help?

I have one of the big grips that you pop the Switch into and find it just about as comfortable as any other controller. Great improvement for $10

Grip cases are great for alleviating aches and pains like that. The problem is finding one that fits the SwOLED. It’s just the teensiest wider so accessories made for a traditionally snug fit on the OG model won’t work with the new model. Satisfye and Skull n Co both have grips available to accommodate the SwOLED but I believe both will take you a few weeks to get with shipping delays being as they are.

Cruis'n Blast, with $10 gift card, is on sale for $30 at Bestbuy.

You can't go wrong with either the Satisfye grip or the Hori Split Pad Pro. Both make you feel like you're holding an Xbox controller.

The Satisfye grip is comfortable and easy to slide the system in and out. You will have to take it out of the grip to charge/dock it which can get annoying. And you would need to find the OLED compatible version.

The Split Pad Pro is great because it saves your joycons from wear and tear, but you will lose rumble and amiibo functionality. It also makes the console very large for travel. It occasionally goes on sale at amazon for $40. It's the grip I use the most.

+1 for hori pro pads. They are bulky and so I only use one on the R side. I use an official joycon swapped into a dpad shell on L to reduce size and preserve rumble. For me, one nice thing about the pro pad I didn't expect is that there's a plastic peg on the back. I think it's designed so the console can be set down without tipping backward. But for me it helps me support hold the whole console with my right hand without pressing inward. When I travel with the console (rarely), I ditch the pro pad and use a portable ergo grip that still fits in a carry case.

Thanks everyone for the feedback about grips for the Switch. I'll get the Satisfye or Hori one when they're available for the OLED.

Thanks for the heads up as I just got my two orders adjusted through the Target chat and already have the emails from Target for the adjustment.

Note one I opened and the other I keep sealed with my Nintendo collection.
