It's based on an older Richard Garfield (creator of M:tG) CCG, but Fantasy Flight has updated it and turned it into an LCG (Living Card Game, like a CCG, but no random packs-just set purchases). The original is pretty good, but I haven't played the new one yet.

Perhaps the problem is that you're rotating the joystick lots? Basically, you need to hold jump to pre-wind, and then hold that same direction that you pre-wind after releasing the jump button. Hold that same direction mid-air for as long as is safely possible, and throw some tweaks in there...
I got Ora et Labora, and I'm dying to play it, but it's been back-burnered until my group calms down about Risk: Legacy (which is pretty dang great, if you can come to terms with tearing up cards and writing on the board).
Fun game, but I found that a couple of people in our gaming group just don't have the spatial relation skills in order to play. About three or four failed declarations of victory made it an exercise in futility for them. I like it a lot, though! =)
