Gamestop doesn't advertise this much, and I don't believe you can buy it (the discount card only) in-store without the store clerks claiming you have to buy the $15 magazine subscription.
What you do is grab a copy of Game Informer and browse through it. One or more of their subscription postcards should fall out, and at least one of them should have the $2 discount card only option printed on it.
What you do is check the box for the $2 discount card and mail this in with your $2 check made payable to Game Informer Magazine (I don't know why they do it this way, but it works.). Do not check the "bill me later" option as they will send you a bill for around $8 ($2 discount card plus $6 shipping).
It takes about a month to get your discount card through the mail, but it works just like the one you get in-store with the magazine subscription.
