General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Loving the next gen update but God I hope the option to turn off motion blur is coming, 60 fps is so nice until i try to run or turn too fast lol

Idr it being this bad on Xbone/PS4 (my 1st playthrough was PC so not comparing that) but I suppose I could be wrong since it's been a while since I've played it.
 
Two thoughts from my evening last night

Started Eiyuden Chronicle last night. Liking it so far except for Lian’s voice acting. Why does it feel like every JRPG of the last 15 years have to have that one character with truly annoying voice acting?

Been watching XMen 97…. Wolverine’s line in the latest episode, “Grief’s a lonely war” hit HARD.
 
My PDP Riffmaster arrived yesterday.

Initial impressions, really nice build, "premium" feel playing it. It also has a folding/collapsible neck that would make it easier to store and bring to RB parties Iwhen they still happen). Very responsive and no issues at all hitting every note I should be hitting on RB4 (if I missed one I knew it was my fault, not the guitar's). It's now my favorite RB guitar. One caveat that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere... there's no more effect switch for the whammy bar. It's got just one setting. This isn't a big deal to me, but may be for some.

I gave the Fortnite Festival a try... it took me a few tries before figuring out that you need to choose Pro Guitar or Pro Bass as your instrument for the guitar to work. That UI really sucks. Game play was smooth once I got in... played a few songs with a band of Billie Eilishs (current hot Fortnite skin).

I have to say the Fortnite Festival is not as fun as RB... the limited choice of songs is a real impediment, and RB offers a lot more to make it fun (crowd singalongs, etc). You can buy RB4 cheap most of the time lately with its huge song library and you'd have a better experience. However I hope they improve Fortnite Festival and offer a new drum set.

Better still, hopefully people who pick this guitar up for Fortnite end up buying RB4 and lifting that game back up.

Nearly 10 year old game running on a 20 year old engine and Bethesda still doesn't know how to get shit working. I'm glad those developers behind that Fallout London mod held out until after the release because they knew Bethesda would fuck it up somehow.

Ehh...even if it were to bring some popularity back into Rock Band, the DLC support is gone (with majority of last few years of DLC consisting of them just re-releasing the on disc songs) and Harmonix now working in the Fortnite mines, there isn't much to look forward to. At least there's Clone Hero.

Yeah, they need improvements and have steadily been making them. I do like the daily free song rotation as someone playing casually, but if that's all you have it's pretty limited. Song purchases are shared with your current lobby of friends or randoms, I don't remember Rock Band doing this at but my last was RB2. I'm not sure what you mean for effect switch on the whammy bar, they did say you can't actually bend notes audibly yet but its planned.

Definitely will buy RB4 once I get one, I think whatever starter bundle is permanently $10 now.

Regarding the whammy bar: You can bend notes in RB4. It doesn't do anything yet in Fortnite Fest. The effects switch on old RB guitars changed the sound the whammy bar makes (different sustain types).
 
Has anyone ever gameshared an Xbox/Microsoft account on PC?

I'm trying to Gameshare with a secondary account that has PC games tied to it. I have my main account tied to the Xbox App and the secondary tied to Windows. This works but I get a message about an account mismatch and it's asking to confirm account settings. Is there any step I'm missing here? I don't wanna fuck around and change something on my main account that causes issues with purchases there or something.

edit: I can just ignore the message, play the game and sign out my secondary account on windows and everything seems fine. Kinda janky, but it works I guess.

Same deal on the 10 pack on iTunes and you’ll also get the 4K versions if they’re available and they’ll port. (Plus get free 4K upgrades in the future. Though those will stay in iTunes).

The account mismatch message is normal. It didn't use to be that way a few years ago but it's something you'll have to get used to. Sometimes you might have to sign into the Microsoft Store again.

Also for those interested, this is how you share Game Pass on PC; sign into the Microsoft Store with the account that has Game Pass on the computer you want to share with!

My son actually wanted to play Rock Band/ Guitar Hero, on the 360, after they introduced Fortnite Festival. Now he wants to get the Rock Band 4 guitar. Those things shot up in price quickly now that they work in Fortnite. Used ones are going for at least $200. I could have gotten those at $25 new, if I hadn't been pissed at Rock Band for not letting us import our 360 songs to the One.

You could import the 360 songs to the one for the first year or so of RB4. Unfortunately The licenses ran out, that’s what stopped that option. I’ve got all the previous RB songs imported to RB4.
I have the RB4 guitar and it’s great, I think I like the Riffmaster better though. So you now have options.

I tried to log in on my wife's PC last night so she could play Manor Lords but instead was locked out because of an incorrect pin. . .that I never set up. Looking up guidance to change or disable, it wasn't where they stated it would be so I literally could not log in or change it on my own account. She ended up buying it on Steam instead, so epic failure on MS' part. I'm not even sure how I'd log in on a new PC in the future since I can't find anywhere to change a pin that doesn't exist. (n)

In addition to what gorgo said (same, I have my full 360 library moved over… in fact iirc the individual DLCs still move over if purchased on the 360, it’s just the disc exports that ran out… and EVEN THEN if you imported RB1 into 2, or 2 into 3, you’d still have those)…

If you’re seeing used guitars for $200 then that’s actually DOWN from the 250+ they were going for last year. Until this new Riffmaster we haven’t had any new instruments made for almost 8 years, so it’s been a seller’s market on used controllers.
 
Pretty crazy how quickly Starfield fell out of the collective consciousness of players in six months but Fallout is having a renaissance.

I mean, I understand why, one is mediocre and one is very good. But just watching videos of the current gen upgrade for FO4, it has so much more interesting stuff and gameplay mechanics than Starfield does IMHO.

I'm always surprised when motion blur exists, let alone as a default setting. No option to disable it is just cruel.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who actually thinks it makes games look or play better. It makes me feel like I'm looking at the game through a windshield in the rain.
 
Just about done with Ravenlok before it leaves and I will say this about it, it's definitely a kids game, but I'm enjoying it so much more than My Friend Peppa Pig.

Also playing this with Fuga 2 and Half-Life with RTX mod and I gotta say it's kinda crazy how good and fun Half-Life feels still. Keyboard controls still feel a bit too momentum heavy at times, but damn, this is a great game still.

The way I went about it was to just use 2FA (in my case, the Authenticator app from Microsoft)

I'm always surprised when motion blur exists, let alone as a default setting. No option to disable it is just cruel.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who actually thinks it makes games look or play better. It makes me feel like I'm looking at the game through a windshield in the rain.

To be fair Starfield is kind of forgettable as far as Bethesda games go. Unless the dlc really wows me I'm still far more likely to revisit Oblivion or Fallout 3 than the procedurally generated worlds it has. Some kick ass dlc can still turn it around but as long as the 4 main companions are essentially the same character it would be hard to move the needle much.

I agree, my 'surprise' is not at people losing interest, but at Bethesda putting out a game that had so much hype and was such a step back for Bethesda and the genre.

Flock and Dark Void are going to be delisted from Steam on May 8, and people are wondering if that could also happen on Xbox. Both are BC and Dark Void was GwG (Apr 2021), though it has a DLC with achievements. Both games are currently on sale for $3, but the Dark Void DLC is not. Haven't played either, but I'll get Flock and the Dark Void DLC with rewards money just in case.

I sarted playing Dark Void years ago...but never finished, I even bought the DLC.

One word of warning here though if you go for achievements. there's that one achievement called Grease Monkey (which never has been fixed) but it can glitch on you in a way that you're basically unable to obtain it even with a new save file.... people found a workaround if that glitch happens to you so you are able to get another chance, however even then that doesn't work for everybody.

It is suggested to play the whole game offline and therefore earn all achievements offline to prevent this glitch from happening. (not even getting the initial start up update which are common when you play games on the 360) I still have a disc, since I'm fairly sure the digital version (especially on Xbox One/Series X already are the updated versions)
 
Can you buy and redeem xbox core codes from other regions using a VPN? Is India one of the regions capped at 13 months?
 
Lol am I the only one who is getting a maitenance notice for Xbox Ambassador? Site said it will be down for 24 hours. I think that was 4 days ago, maybe 3.

I was going to redeem my code and can't access :rolleyes:

Dark Void was alright, but it's janky as hell. I think everyone was hoping it was going to be Uncharted-with-Tony-Stark, but the controls and quick-time events were so cumbersome that it was more like Uncharted-piloting-a-flying-bus. It's still worth $3 IMHO if it's being delisted, just.... be ready for a 5.7 out of 10.

I'm still shocked we never got an excellent Iron Man game, and after Spider-Man 2 and all the air-cruising sequences, I wish Insomniac was doing that instead of Wolverine.

I mean, we're at least getting an Iron Man game from EA from the people who did the Dead Space remake... Which was deemed a failure in their eyes so probably if this game fails that studio maybe gone. Jesus, game development in this age is the fucking worse. The only positive spin I can make from this is at least it'll be better than those jank and over complicated Iron Man 360 games by default.

The short answer is: Not all motion blur is created equal. If implemented correctly, it can drastically help with the jittery play back of 30fps games, or be applied per pixel to specific items moving fast onscreen. However, motion blur, especially bad motion blur, can get compounded with the image persistence blur of lower end LCD TVs.
