$100 new 2gb Ipod vidio.

CAGiversary!
I was looking around the backstreets of akihabara(Japan's electric town) and I came across a store selling what looked like brand new 1 & 2gb Ipod videos(they had a showcase with one inside playing an anime). I would upload some picks but I'm not sure how. I don't think that they are actully Ipods even though they look just like them. The company that makes them is syomind. I looked on google, ebay and the threads but I could find no english info for this company. It looks like a great deal. Does anyone know any thing about this company?
(if this is in the wrong place than please move it)

If you buy an 80 gig Ipod from Apple, it's less than $5 per gig. But in your case you spent $50 a gig. And my friend has one of those and it feels really really shitty. But his only cost $50 from Ebay.

There knockoff Nano's. You paid $100 for it, damn. You got ripped off on a knockoff item. While its 'cute' to watch videos and such on it, the screen is the size of a postage stamp.

I see this comparison alot...but not everyone wants a huge iPod that plays Video and has a harddrive. A nano has flash memory meaning it has a lesser chance of messing up. I couldn't imagine going to the gym with a bulky iPod video.

Of course in this case, we're not even talking about nano vs. full sized iPod. We're talking about cheap Chinese iPod knockoff versus real iPod, and that's really no comparison, especially when a 2GB nano is only $149 (believe me, the extra money gets you a lot). Of course you can't play video on a nano, but with only 2GB and such a small screen, I don't know if there's much point in playing videos anyway.

It even looks cheap!

I never said i bought it i said I saw it. Also don't want an apple product since they have crappy customer service. many mp3 players are Ipod knockoffs, and most mp3 players cost less than an Ipod, that dosn't mean that they suck. All I want to know if this company makes quality products (like a review of their product or a comment from someone who has somthing the made, not just saying it's Chinese its crap)

yeaa the real ipod video is much bigger, wow 2 stamps now?
I wouldnt waste my money on a video ipod to watch anything on a tiny little screen

iPod videos are big, like regular iPods, because they use hard drives. Apple doesn't make them in tiny sizes like 1GB or 2GB. As everyone else pointed out, it's a knockoff. You may not like Apple's customer service, but I am pretty certain devices like this that border on legality won't have the best customer service either.

I've read it's possible to get an iPod Nano to show video by installing some Linux on it but I don't know if that's true. It's a useful way to have porn on the go, I suppose.

So true!

Ive never had a problem with Apples customer service, they even credited the difference on my imac when the new cheaper models came out, and still allowed me to keep the rebates on my ipod and printer... some people will never like apple no matter what they do... which in my experience is make nice products (and at work I have one apple G5 and TWO PC's that I run, and love the apple and its OS much more)

While the ipod video is bigger than the nanos by a large margin, Id hardly qualify it as huge and a pain to workout in, I have an armband for my 60 GB for when I jog and have no problems

I think the larger point is that nanos do not play video. If this guy had any common sense at all he would have realized this and not bought it.

It's really subjective. Compared to most flash players, it is relatively huge not just in size but in weight.

Personally I don't like armbands, and prefer to just stick it in my pocket or use a beltclip, and the weight really makes a difference when it's jiggling around while you're running. I'm really sensitive to these things when I'm jogging and I can't even have my keys with me. Small flash players were a godsend for me.

Flash players are also much more rugged as they don't have moving parts. Plus, I'd rather have something cheaper to use during such physical activities without having to worry about breaking it.
Um, why? You'd give up iTunes Store compatibility and all iPod accessories for a $20 savings over the iPod?
So you are saying no other MP3 player should ever exist? I still have other iPods...will use them. Zune seems much cooler. Buy music and such through WiFi, share music, etc.

If nothing else it will be compeition for Apple...so maybe they might actually do something different to the iPod in the next 5 years. So far we still have a color 4:3 screen and nothing every changes except slighly brighter and a bit longer in battery life. They now sell movies though iTunes...which 99% are Widescreen...c'mon Apple!

A couple of points:

You can't buy music through wi-fi on the Zune (yet anyway). The only for wi-fi use that Microsoft has announced is sharing a song with someone else, which they can listen to 3 times over a period of a few days.

The Zune doesn't have a widescreen display. It is the same ratio as the iPod, but turned on its side. It is slightly bigger, but that's the only difference.

Competition is good though.
