2014 Thrift Store Thread - Post your finds here!

Checked out my goodwill on a limb and actually ended up spending quite a lot:

Cobalt DS Lite w/ New Super Mario Bros: 25.99

Mario Kart DS $3.99

Sonic Rush 3.99

Tetris DS 3.99

Contra 4 3.99

Super Mario Advance 2 (GBA) 3.99

GameShark ps2 5.99 complete

Action Replay OG Xbox 5.99 complete

OG XBOX Gameshark memory card USB dongle $3.99

I bought the AR / Gameshark stuff because Ive noticed they seem to be getting more and more expensive...I could tell the DS stuff was all donated by the same person...kinda wish they would have kept it together instead of separating it...

My question is..... do people fap to that?

Edit:

Was referring to the Capcom statue, not Judge Dredd.
To Poision? God no.

But to Dredd... well who can resist a man in uniform. He also has the who mysterious thing since you can never see his face.

And don't get me started on the game gear. What a a hot piece of machinery.

Picked this up for $2 last weekend.  Thanks to the CAGs on here that pointed out its value, turned a wasted trip into a really good one.  I erased the CD Key on here for obvious reasons.

Had to make a long roadtrip today but stopped at a goodwill I've never been to before and got a copy of Gabriel Knight Mysteries... and now that I'm looking it up, I should've dug through the book section a little more to see if I could find the paperback it could've originally came with.
Quoting this old find because what did I find today at a different thrift? The novelization of Sins of the Father I talked about here. :D :D/

Wish I wouldve went earlier, they had a lot of Target stuff today......no games though. I grabbed these for $1 apiece, saw 2 20 something guys looking at stuff on their phones. Perhaps I have found my competition?

Yesterday I went to a GW, and they had two "lots"

Lot 1- Xbox Lot (Green Halo COnsole, 4 controllers, 30 odd games, other stuff)- $200

Lot 2- Xbox 360 Lot (COnsole, 2 controllers, 30 odd games, wireless adaptor, carrying bag)-$265

The 360 lot had some really good games- Red Dead Redemption, Orange Box, Bladestorm and some other ones I forget off the top of my head. I asked if I could buy some of the games, but was shut down. Not an awful deal though.

Found a PS2 today, phat without a a power cord. It is in pretty good shape. They also had a lot of games for PS2 that were not in the rightcase. I ended up getting a case for Vietcong Purple haze for free, so if anyone wants that just PM me and cover shipping and its yours.

It's been years since I've found the right combination of quality games with a decent price at any goodwill or other thrift store (and I've made countless trips over the past year)... Just yesterday, at a thrift, they were charging $40 for a first generation playstation and one controller... Sad...

Saw some decent games at savers, but I left them (and someone else already bought them). $10 banjo tooie and others like it. I can't justify paying $10 for a n64 game I already have. I think the most I ever paid was $7 for one of the zelda games. The guy who temporarily did games at this store, then went to another store is now back managing my home store. Now controllers are 9.99 each (they used to be 1.99-2.99).

I know that feel, bros. The store where I used to get Guitar Hero controllers for $3 on a nearly weekly basis now charges $15-20 for them - probably because I kept buying them up so fast when they were cheaper, but still.

Actually both of the local stores I regularly visit always charge a flat rate of $3 for individual games, and they don't go by ebay prices for anything so I should be thankful for that. On the other hand, their pricing source for everything else seems to be "out of their ass" so consoles and accessories are always horribly overpriced.

Nice haul on those PS1 titles, I've started buying any I see $3 or under, I've got about 70 different titles now

Pretty good day today.  Found a slim ps2 with cables, no controller (but had NFL 2k5 in it) for $20.  More than I'd usually spend, but it's still worth it if it works. At the same GW, I found an older Jurassic Park electronic Bull T-rex for .99.  Cheapest price used on AZ is 103.99, but who knows if they're selling at that. (http://www.amazon.com/Jurassic-Park-Lost-World-T-Rex/dp/B001A5TZKA)

I stopped at another thrift store to pick something up for my fiance's mom and grabbed a bagged bundle of NES games for $5.  Only game of value was Super Mario 2 with manual.  Other games with manuals are Jaws and Tiger Heli.  Cart only games are RC Pro-am, Wrestlemani and Wheel of Fortune Junior.  Also found a sealed 3D Game Alchemy (levels, mods etc) for Doom, Doom 2, Heretic and Hexen.  Also shrinkwrapped with it is a sealed jewel case edition of Doom (ver 1.666).  Paid $5 for that.  I'll try to get some pics snapped later.

^I remember I got one of those Jurassic Park dinos for Christmas the year it came out and ended up taking it back. My dad's coworkers son had one and it tore up easily.

curious, what store might that have been with the NES games? Tiger Heli is not a terrible game. Nice haul!

My brother went thrift shopping today and here is what he got:

Super Mario Bros. 3

Rad Racer

Contra

All for $2 apiece

Since my brother got back from Salvation Army he told me what else he got:

Star Wars Episode 1: Pod Racer

Goldeneye

Wrestlemania 2000

Sealed Star Wars: Dark Forces

Hellfire expansion pack for Diablo 1

StarCraft Brood War

again all for $2 apiece.

Thrift King in Jeannette. 95% of the time it's overpriced or junk, or overpriced junk. Tiger Heli is a game I have fond memories of - back when my dad was still active in my life, we used to play together for hours on end.

Unfortunately, that PS2 from GW is junk. AV port is wonky and the picture gets distorted if you bump it. Also, the controller port is messed up too. I tried a few controllers and some buttons/d-pad directions won't work. That is going back tomorrow.

Adn here's a pic of the 3D Game Alchemy I picked up last night:

It is HEAVY, too. 4+ lbs.

I got that same Doom shareware disc from a Salvation Army for $0.50 a few weeks ago. Mine was open though.

And yeah, Alchemy should be heavy... books are funny that way. ;) :D

One of my all time favorite systems, so when i see them I usuallly get them unless they are priced rediculously

Got a Gamecube controller for $1.99 today and Splinter Cell for the Gamecube for $1.99. Nothing spectacular or worth taking a picture of but slowly continuing to build my Gamecube collection through the thrifts.

Stopped in at the Mt. Pleasant PA GW this morning while I was over there picking up my Splinter Cell Paladin CE from Gamestop and had another decent find.  a DS case (no DS, sadly) but it had 10 games in it for $12.99.  Nothing too spectacular, aside from New Super Mario Bros.

Other games were: Dangerous Hunts 2011, Cars 2, Spider Man Web of Shadows, NFS Undercover, Smackdown v Raw 2009, Penguins of Madagascar, Naked Brothers Band and Spongebob's Boating Bash.  NSMB and a few others are going to GS (which should net about $30 towards Mario Kart 8), and my older daughter will probably get the rest of them.

stopped in at a thrift saw a medievil ps1 in with the cd's  I'm like nice!,  Crash bandicoot warped was inside, no manual >.>, shouldn't suprise me being the same place that has tiger woods pga '9x in a final doom case...

Goodwill haul, games were 2.99 each. Games have some scratches, but they should all work..
i would have passed up all of these for that price except spyro 1 and crash 1 thats just me but since i got these free i cannot compalin good buy either way if you cant find them anywhere else

Local GW moved the Electronics to 2 smaller shelves and are using the old wall to show off their collection of fat ass tvs that noone will buy..... And I saw a Gamecube in the glasscase for $20, okay price if you wanted one but I was like "they never put those in the glasscase! How odd!"

Found a white wired Microsoft made Xbox 360 controller for $1.99 at a salvation army. I've wanted an official wired controller for years but had been too cheap to bother buying before.

Haven't visited the thrift store in a while.

My finds however, are:

$10 MicroCon2 Steering Wheel for PC/Xbox 360

$3 DELL USB Keyboard

$2 DDR Softpad for Xbox Original

.50 cent 50ft Ethernet cord

I need to visit the thrift store again really soon, probably next week.

Don't usually take the time to post pics and finds.  Posted a few in the garage sale thread so might as well share here too.  This was a 50 percent off all media day.  The PSP lot and games were in the electronics section with blue electronic tags.  The PSP, bottom 4 games, loose discs and cases were 30.xx. No 50 percent off electronics.  The other games are tagged at $1.24.  Games and DVD's are usually $2 unless marked otherwise.  She couldn't figure out how to ring up blue tag $1.24 at 50 percent off.  She finally rings them up 99 cents plus 50 percent off to 49 cents.  All this for just under $35 total.  The kicker is the tags say April 11, I bought these April 9.

This year is a real slow start for yard sales in my area and I just couldn't suppress the video game hunting urge anymore.  So, I decided to hit a few GWs I hadn't been to for awhile.  For the most part, I had given up on them between stupid pricing and resellers swarming the ones I've had the best luck at.  Glad I did go out today.

First store was a bust for games, but picked up a book and a pint glass for $1.  Second store is where I found Devil May Cry (PS2), Ridge Racer V (PS2), and Smokescreen for $2 each.  Third store was the best.  A black N64 (with controller, cables, and power supply), Parasite Eve (PS) complete and in excellent condition, Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) and a blue N64 controller for what I thought was going to be about $13 (w/o tax), but I was surprised when the cashier asked me if I wanted to round up three cents to $7.  Huh?  There's a week long sale in my area and today was for toys at 50% off.  The CAG in me immediately thought about going back to the second store and to try and get my $3, but I would have wasted that in gas to get there.  So, most of these aren't great finds, but for the good condition they're in and for a little over $13 for eveything makes me a happy CAG.

P.S. Sorry for the crappy pic, but I've posted in this and the yard sale thread last year and never put up pics of my finds.  Trying to change that this year and I'll figure out how to improve the picture quality as I go along.

Went to some thrift stores today. The first one had some kid ds games that I was going to pick up but there was a 8 year old beside me looking for wii games. I asked him if he had a ds and he did so I just gave them to him. He was real excited to have them.

The second stores had a bunch of movies for $1 each I grabbed:

Pan's Labryinth

Scooby Doo 2

Pulp Fiction

007 Quantom of Solace

007 Thunderball

007 Casino Royale

kill bill

not bad for $7
