More to come...

No one even saw my post  :nottalking:  I thought you all liked pokemon

I agree though. That hulk hogan (velvet, I hope) painting is hilarious.

I'm not going to any sales today. I got sick last night...probably "con flu" which is a general term for any sickness attributed to going to conventions. ;) Fever, sore throat, losing my voice. Free comic book day is Saturday, so I probably won't make it to many sales this weekend. I have more stuff to clean and photograph, so that will keep me busy.

Good luck everyone!

I did see hacksaw Jim Dugan and Taimak, so that was pretty cool. I brought my copy of "the last dragon" for him to sign, but he wanted $20 for a sig and a picture, so I didn't bother.
You should've told him to kiss your converse. Duggan, Taimak, Vader, Virgil, etc. all want way too much for pictures or signatures.

At least the Black Ranger took a photo with a little toy helmet for only like 5 or 10 bucks. When I saw him at comic-con it felt like something sketchy was going done. Just walking along the floor some lady said something along the lines of "want a picture with the black ranger". I said sure and she was like "only 5 bucks" and he just popped up from somewhere with a little toy Black Ranger helmet (maybe half the size of a person's head). Gave her the cash and they were gone in the crowd.

Also, as for the Hogan painting. I would hang him right over my bed so I could look at him every night before I sleep and then he could be the first thing I see in the morning.

When I went to Wrestlemania 27 in Atlanta me and my dad went and ate at Abdullah the Butcher's restaurant (food was great BTW but bad side of town). Now mind you this was the night before he was going into the Hall of Fame but the staff made a point to come around to the tables and say "Mr. Abdullah is here now outside if you want to see him!" I guess maybe out of my being naive I assumed this meeting and photo op would be free seeing as I was eating in HIS restaurant providing him business. So I go outside and speak to him and he wanted $10 for the photo. Needless to say I paid up and he actually held the money up to the light to make sure it was legit. On the inside there was a merchandise table with overpriced bad quality shirts and a signed business cars for $20 (same card -unsigned- available at register free of charge). His staff clearly either respected him or were scared of him but they went into straight business when he showed up.

dood, I saw Virgil at a fuck en flea market last summer. it was sad.

first decent day of yard sales in my area is tomorrow!  Hitting a couple community sales at 7 and then some private sales after that, should be a good day.  Hope to get some good finds!

I got a decent lot a few minutes ago. I was a little worried I was going to get robbed, so I called my mom and told her the address of where I was going. Lucky for me, it was legit. The system and games smell like resin, smoke, and cats, but I will clean them up and take a pic in a few days.

I'm still on post for 7/13/13. :whistle2:#
Realistically, I probably won't have a pic in a few days. ;)

My last post was stuff I bought in 2013, but I still have some from 2012 and maybe one from 2011 that I haven't posted yet. :wall:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/325690-2014-yardsale-thread/?p=11724272

I'm trying to post the junky lots first, but when I do that I tend to forget the good lots. I just found 2 boxes in my parents garage that I know I didn't post yet (I used to clean my games at their house, then bring them over here).

I need an assistant. hmm, maybe a college coed intern. "Must like video games, photography, and awkward longing stares"

Well, I'm not taking pictures, but I got a small score tt this morning.

Wii remote plus
Nsmb wii
Mario and sonic 2012
$10

Wii
Wii fit board
2 wii remotes
2 nunchuks
2 classic controllers (1 sealed)
A pile of games including super paper mario, nsmb wii, and like 12 others
$25

Today I got about 26-28 games for $25.

Highlights include:

GCN: Resident Evil 0 (Black Label)

GCN: Resident Evil (Black Label)

GCN: Resident Evil Code: Veronica X (Black Label)
GCN: Resident Evil 4 (Black Label)

GCN: Metal Gears Solid: Twin Snakes (Player's Choice)

XBOX: Mortal Kombat: Deception Collector's Edition (Scorpion Variant)

X360: Hitman Absolution

Then a lot of other good, but cheap games like PS2 God of War I & II, XBOX Deus Ex: Invisible War, PS2 Metal Gear Solid II & III, XBOX Crimson Skies, XBOX Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, etc...

Already traded in some of the cheaper titles. I stoked because Code: Veronica X was the last game I needed to complete my  Black Label GCN Resident Evil series!

Noticed a huge amount of blu-rays at one sale early today - most of them were stickered at $1 each. O_O Paid asking price for the lot. Walking Dead season 1, BTTF Trilogy, Conan the Barbarian & Conan the Destroyer, Elysium, Quantum of Solace & Casino Royale, all four Underworld movies, Les Mis 25th anniversary in concert, and...Poultrygeist...which appears to be signed.

Oh and Walking Dead season 2, but it's DVD not blu.

[attachment=4808:Img_1983.jpg]

Random other stuff...

:wii: Power supply, sensor bar, and nunchuck - $2

:br: Monsters, Inc. sealed w/ slipcover - $2

Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack CD & mini Sonic plush - $1

N64 w/ power, RF cable, grey controller & atomic purple controller - $10

And some nice bookends to use on my shelves for $2.

[attachment=4809:Img_1984.jpg]

Picked up all this stuff together for $10 yesterday... pretty typical pickup for me when I get desperate.

:360: Power supply 203w

Star Trek DOS game, CIB in good condition at least.

Game Gear Krusty's Fun House

Snes power cable, NES RF adapter, 1 NES controller, 1 NES max controller

And here's one for Slowdive!

[attachment=4810:Img_1985.jpg]

Got this complete in box "jarts" set for $5, includes 4 darts, target rings, and instructions. Unfortunately I have no idea what to do with these! They're not the sharp, deadly kind, but they're still pretty illegal. Advice please!

[attachment=4812:Img_1986.jpg]

And finally here's a not-so-recent thrift pickup. Got this RetroN3 with no controllers or cables for $21 (marked $25, used $4 off coupon.) Only reason I was willing to pony up so much is because it came with the SMW/SMAS cart. Luckily for me the thing works just fine - tested with a genesis AC adapter I had sitting around and it loaded right up. Although it's really hard to get cartridges in and out of this thing!

well I had a decent day of pickups today...not all gaming related but I will post the highlights:

From a community sale at 7 AM:

-2 end tables in great condition $3 each

-HP Photosmart C3135 Printer/Scanner/Copier with Power Cord (missing USB) and 2 Ink Cartridges $5

-LEGO Orient Express set 50 cents

-gaming highlight:  Legend of Zelda on Gameboy Advance cartridge in mint condition for 25 cents!

From a sale down the road....

-20" Acer Monitor $20!  Came with all cords and works great!

Then from a small sale towards the end of the morning....

-Platinum Gamecube in original box $9!  Missing the controller but came with all cords so no complaints.  Plus its RARE to see Nintendo stuff out here and the guy is going to sell some games to me as well!

Not bad for the first yardsale day of the season here.  Worth the 5:30 wakeup.

Spent $15

Snagged a slim ps2 with hookups and controller for $10. Picked up 6 PS2 games, and Metroid Prime with Echoes Bonus disc to go with it for $5

They are valuable if you can find a way to sell them. eBay listings get pulled almost instantly, but some people have gotten away with it. I had a set just like yours and ended up trading it for some stuff through Craigslist.

Well, finally found some good video game things. At one yard sale got:

PS2 Fat Console w/ Games: $30

Original XBOX Console w/ Games: $30

At another:

Gamecube console w/ Games: $30

Also found an second copy of Mario Sunshine, along with Pokemon Colisseum for $2ea.

Also got some free goodies- An older sail board w/ sail and mast (still better than the board I already have), and a Roland Electric Piano.

Didn't do amazing. Got tons of Blu Rays and DVD TV sets all for 50cents each. Only gaming things I got were CoD Ghosts, Destroy All Humans Path of Furon ($5 each), Halo 3 and Need for Speed Pro Street (50 cents each), Kinect Sensor ($10), and Learn Geography and My French Coach DS games for $1.

Damn, nice haul. Can easily make a couple hundred bucks off that

Probably scared of him because he has Hep. C.

Zelda Wind Waker & Mario Sunshine alone should get you $80-$90, congrats.

It's been a while since I went yard sailing. I had a pretty good Saturday though. Nothing like some of your guys.

A Song of Ice and Fire 1-4 for .50 each. It should keep me entertained for the summer. At the same sale I found four PSP games for .50 each.

-Need For Speed Carbon

-Wipeout Pure

-Spongebob (Yellow Avenger? Haven't checked)

-MLB 2K7

Found a bunch of DVDs for $1 a piece. Grabbed Knocked Up , Big Fish, Family Guy S1+S2 Combo, Gladiator, and The Hangover for $5 total.

Also found a TI-84 Plus Silver for $11 and an NC State hoodie for $2.

Pretty nice haul this week. Got all this from a 5 parking lot college campus sale. Hardbacks were $5, others were like .50. Games were $2. Some fat dude was a huge reseller and told his wife to look after the stand while he went to go pull out more stuff. Definitely bought the DS and ps3 games from the TRU clearance sale and was trying to flip em. I knew the games were basically retail, but his wife sold them to me for $5 by accident. 'Twas a great victory for me!

LOL wonder if you broke up their marriage.

Last week from a guy in the neighborhood who collects board games.  I got this box set and a G.I. Joe board game.

Don't usually post pics but might try to more often if time allows. 5 Dollars for this one, didn't even haggle.

gallery_354731_8396_868718.jpg

These DVD sets from the same sale as above.  Got these for $5 each.  He wanted more for the Alien set but with a little haggling in overall price I got that money back.  Was pumped to get this as I almost bought it off Amazon recently.  They had 4 bins full of DVD's and games but I was there on the second day and they said people bought all the games on Friday.  But as you can see from the post above I found some good stuff they left behind.  Also from this sale 120GB HD for XBOX360  $3 :hot:.  It was in a bag full of wires and junk with the N64 controller.

gallery_354731_8396_874452.jpg

Since I don't know when I'll ever be in a pic posting mood again.  Here's the G.I. Joe game and a random goodie from last season to fill out the pic. The Joe game is not that old with a 2002 copyright.  This game caught my eye right away and the boardgame guy is OCD about his games and would never sell incomplete set.  He repackages all the loose pieces into new Ziploc baggies.  His last count was 2000 complete board games.  He always invites me to game night at a local mall.  His sale will be again in two weeks.

Awesome Vault-Tec lunchbox, been wanting one of them and a bobble head for awhile.  Mostly to show up a co-worker that brings his lunch in a "Dr. Who" lunchbox.

So Saturday ending up being a pretty major bust for me. There was supposed to be a giant community sale about 20 minutes away that I was going to hit up, but it ended up being cancelled at the last minute due to the field being muddy. I hit up a few nearby yard sales, but they'd been pretty picked over, most likely by the disappointed crowds that came for the community sale. One guy mentioned he'd sold a box of PS2 and Gamecubes as soon as a he brought it out, grrrrr. The only things I found were a complete Wii with 2 remotes, a balance board, and a few games for $30 (for MAGFest), a PS2 controller and multi-tap for $2, and a Cuisinart electric fondue pot for $5.

I didn't do too much after that as I had my wife with me and she's 7.5 months pregnant (she mainly came to check out baby stuff at the big community sale that didn't happen). At least a friend was nice enough to buy me lunch after dropping off a hacked PSP for her to play Seiken Densestu 3 on.

Sunday, however, turned out to be pretty great. I checked Craigslist on a whim and noticed an ad for a sale advertising Nintendo games I hadn't hit the day before. I headed out and found they still had a bunch of stuff, pretty much all quality Wii, DS, and 3DS. Turns out the woman selling is a fellow Nintendo fan doing a bit of clean-out, and I was more than willing to help. I picked up all of the stuff below for $45, a little more than I typically like to pay but I was hungry for a find and it's all stuff I either really want to play or add to my collection. Plus, one of my competitors showed up just a few minutes after I did, so I wanted to make sure I picked up the choice stuff. Also, I didn't notice this until I got home, but that copy of Muramasa is sealed.

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:23859]
After that I hit up a house next door and picked up a bunch of mythology and folk tale books for $5, and they'll make great bathroom reading. So yeah, Sunday ended up making up for the awful time on Saturday!

BONUS: A friend of mine in CT found Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, disc-only, in a box full of PS2 games for $2. He knows I've been wanting it for a while, so he's sending it along to me! Hooray for good karma finally paying off!

Jordan vs Bird Handheld - .25
Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Off Road Handheld - .25
Dr. Muto (PS2 Complete) - .25
South Park: Chef's Luv Shack (PS1 Complete) - .50
Metal Gear Acid & Twisted Metal: Head-On (Both UMD Only) - 2
Mario Kart Wii (Disk Only), New Super Mario Bros. Wii (No Manual) & The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Case & Bonus Disk Only) - 5
Everything Else Including A Manual For Mario Kart Wii Which I Forgot To Picture - 6

When I asked about games at one house the 2 PSP games were brought out which they took a buck each for. The house I got everything else at they were asking 5 for the system and controllers and .50 a game, both of the Wii games are complete. I actually asked about games and they brought out a bin of random stuff which included mostly empty Wii cases for garbage games but had a few disk only & complete games, I did pull Survivor and the manual out of said bin and in in hindsight should have also took the empty Wii cases. One sale I asked about games at they actually had a random bin they didn't put out yet with VHS, DVD And Wii stuff of which I pulled out the Wii games I got. They asked me how much I would offer and took my offer of 5. All of the other little finds were asking price.

Was out about 2 hours each day, 14 sales Friday & 20 Saturday. Aside from a few sales nearby I spent both days (begrudgingly) in a town wide that always sucks on my alternate route only because my normal route didn't have much going on. On Saturday I decided to limit myself to two hours in the town wide and actually had a smaller list of addresses this year, I did notice a good number of unadvertised sales that weren't on the map for the town wide but passed on a good chunk of them without stopping as I was pretty sure most of them were repeats and I actually didn't feel well with about 5 more sales on my list and decided to call it a day about an hour and a half in or so. I can't help but thing that maybe I would have lucked out at one of those last sales since I decided to pass on them but they were probably going to be a heaping pile of shit sandwhich like about 99% of this town wide always ends up being.

Not much in the way of overpriced, $100 for a boxed Wii & Wii Fit and another sale I don't know what they wanted for a Playstation with some games and a Playstation 2 with games when asked about spliting out a PS2 game they wanted $5 so I didn't even bother. Didn't miss much a PS2 with some games Friday and a Game Gear (and I'm guessing a few games) Saturday.

Made about $250 at my sale this weekend. Glad to clear some of that clutter!

Will probably have another this fall when I've gathered more stuff from the basement.

I've hit grand slams the last two Saturdays, week one was about 200 ps1 games (unpicked so good titles) for 40 and this last week was snes console, a GameCube and a ton of boxed snes games including e.v.o! Never imagined finding Evo just in the wild like that. $73 for that lot after factoring in some stuff my kids wanted.

We need pics, man!

I will try to take some pics later on, but might as well list what I got before I forget. Saturday I went out at about 8:30 and finished around 12. I hit up a total of 9 sales. Sunday I just walked over to one sale about 2 blocks away.

This was probably in my top 5 for Saturdays yet.

Sale 1:

Entire Buffy Series and Angel Series on DVD - 7 sets of buffy and 5 of angel - pretty all mint except for a disc or two - all for $3

Bunch more DVDS - burn notice seasons 1 &2, bunch of girl, BBC, Jane Austen DVDs - for another $3

Asked about video games and in a box below a table was a yellowed SNES, yellowed gameboy, and games. Games in include Mario World, Mario All-Stars, Boogerman, Tetris Attack, Illusion of Gaia - $5

I didn't know Boogerman for SNES was that rare. I have the Sega Genesis version from when it first came out and assumed it was worth a few bucks, but didn't think that much

Sale 2:

Huge sale taking up like 4 driveways. I may have missed a few things, but there was a ton of stuff

Like 12 comics and a bunch of Bakugan in a carrying case - $5

PS2 with like 10 games (most noticeable were Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex and Sly 2) along with the eye toy, network adapter, 4 controllers

NES with bubble bobble, adventure island, Beetlejuice in the box, Mario 3, Willow and a few others - both for $20

N64 with 3 controllers, Mario 64, Mario Party 3, Mickey's Speedway and Waverace - $15

Gamecube controller, memory card, gameshark, action replay, Zelda Twilight Princess, Smash Bros, Starfox Adventure, Pacman World 2, Batallion War, Mario Party 6 (disc only), Baten Kaitos Origins Disc 1 (disc only), and sealed Sega GT2002/Jet Set Radio for Xbox - $8

The comics I grabbed because there were like 6 Simpsons ones, Fairest #1, and a few more number 1's. I would've thought Fairest would be worth a bit, but oh well. I have cover art from Fairest #3 on my wall so I can live with not making much off that.

Was really surprised how much the action replay is. People paying like 80 to 100 for it on eBay.

Sale 3

Godfather Collection (sealed), Zombie (new), and Up on DVD for $5

Emperor Kang Burger King figure, Foot Soldier from early 90's TMNT, He-Man figure from 80's - $2

Big bunch of Wii Games for 50 cents each - some good ones were 2x Mario Cart, Mario Party, Mario Galaxy, Mario Sluggers, etc. A bunch of other ones (like 25) that aren't homeruns, but for 50 cents each it was no problem.

One thing that kind of annoyed me was that New Super Mario Bros and WiiFit Plus were empty. Went back and left my number for them to call me if they find them (was like 2 blocks away from house)

4 Wii Steering wheels, Balance Board, 2x Tony Hawk Boards, and bunch of accessories for $4

Sale 4

Peter Pan and Disney cartoon DVD - $2

13 Baby Einstein DVDs - $5

Hit one sale on Sunday for perhaps the best find of the weekend for $1

Holy crap at the guy that found a boxed EVO! That's a five hundie easy. Were you itching when you saw it.
I'm itching right now because I sold a mint (and I mean MINT) boxed E.V.O for $270 in 2008. SNES games really shot up in value...

The only thing that makes me feel a little better is knowing I only paid $4.49 for it.

Man I hope I didn't leave that game at a garage sale...

I've been paying too much for stuff lately. I'm noticing this as I go to take pictures ($20,$30,$40,$50 a lot). Things that seemed like a great deal at the time seem "meh" now. I photographed my SUPER lot and I am not as impressed with it as I was originally. I'm still waiting to hear back from the person about the rest of it (she has been staying in contact), but if she doesn't come through, I will be disappointed.

I do have a strange streak going this year...as I start to post my finds it will become obvious, but one item in particular I have already found 4 or 5 of this year. Normally I find 1 a year at the most.

I guess I shouldn't be complaining that I am actually finding stuff, but I wish it didn't cost so much. I'm not sure what my schedule will be tomorrow, but I will try to post something. I am getting too far behind on what I am posting again.

I think getting that sealed SOTN was a blessing and a curse. It was awesome to get for free, but I know it will be difficult for me to top that this season (most of you have already topped it with your own finds though).
