360 slim AV port

So I'm considering trading in my old (non hdmi, original, fixed rrod twice) 360 at gamestop to get a new slim. But there's one question I have that I haven't been able to figure out yet.... is the AV port on the back of the slim the same as the old 360? The reason I'm wondering is because somewhere I read that the slim has a built in optical port, whereas the old 360 had the optical port on the cable.

I just want to make sure that my cables that I bought for my 360 will work on the new slim, or if I have to buy new cables...

anyone know?

One of my friends bought the new 360, and when I asked him he said that the old AV cords are compatible (which is good since apparently the new 360 doesn't come with HD cables)
