Hey Frisky, did you put together a spreadsheet of previous sales for the 3DS eshop like you did for the Wii U one? I just picked up a 3DS and there are a mess of VC games I want to get, but I'm trying to get a feel for how often sales on those sort of games come along.

No. I could do that over the course of a day's work since the thread was started around the time that they started doing deals on the Wii U eShop and I could just go through the eShop's small list of games for easy organization, but the 3DS is a different story. Don't expect it anytime soon, at least.

Nintendo games tend to go on sale when first released, then maybe once or twice later on when a game from the same series is being released.

So, as usual, didn't see four swords was free until after the free ended. Go to look it up at regular price and can't even find it in the store...
Nintendo store and online service in general should just be abandoned. Between a confusingly unintuitive UI, disappointingly irrelevant search results, days of downtime over the holidays and ridiculously inconvenient friending/matchmaking I'd say it's utterly worthless.

Step up your online game Nintendo, it's 2014, not 1999.

Not their fault if you missed out on the promo.

Out of all the things to complain about getting free stuff isn't something I'd knock them for.

Complainers gonna complain lol.

Because it doesn't exist for purchase outside of the two times they gave it away.
Um... Yeah, that's genius.
Someone in this thread said something to the effect of "for a company that likes to make money, Nintendo sure doesn't make it easy to spend mine." They were referring to the inability to buy estore games online and sync to their account. Again, I'm just saying N logic defies me. I don't care that I missed the game for free, I found it odd that I cannot even purchase it. Why not just leave it up for free then? Why not sell it?

Anyway just got the 3DS XL for my son for Christmas, and while the system and games are impressive, Nintendo's online choices most definitely are not.

Just figured I'd ask. I'm probably just gonna buy them at full price since I would play a few of them now and if the 3DS shop is anything like Wii U VC sales are pretty infrequent (outside of release week like someone mentioned).

Wasn't 4 swords, just a multiplayer component to one of the LoZ games. Nothing really in depth, just fun to play with 3 other people? IO may be wrong.

Yeah, it was originally included for the GBA remake of LttP. There was also a Gamecube Four Swords game.

There is a single player mode which features levels based off of older Zelda titles, but it isn't exactly expansive.

Are there any games for like 2-3 dollars? I only have that amount left and dont want to add anymore.

HELL YEAH.

By the way, not a deal at all, but I think Bravely Default will be available at midnight. If we all buy it, maybe they'll start releasing more RPGs, like Dragon Quest and Fantasy Life, in the U.S. And that, my friends, would be the best deal of all.

Its more for teen girls. Nintendo can't appease all hardcore gamers all the time. Last sale was pretty good IMO. 4 swords Free, discounts on SMTIV & MH3U.

I'm picking up my pre-order for the collectors edition from Best Buy at midnight tonight. Can't wait!!!

hopefully someone can answer this question for me I downloaded Zelda four swords last week when it was free on my plain 3ds but today I finally got my 3ds xl will that game transfer over to my new xl since it was saved to the 3ds memory and I don't think to the sd card? hopefully I don't lose the game by transferring since it no longer available for download

In case anyone did not buy it the first time around, I'd recommend Witch and Hero.  It's a fun little tower defense game.  It's definitely a a short game, but it's fun while it lasts.

No one answered this yet?? During a system transfer, I believe any DSiWare (which is what this falls under) that is in system memory will transfer. However, if, for some reason, it does not transfer, don't panic. You should still be able to download it from the eShop if you go to you download list.

Seconded. For all intents and purposes (I hate that phrase!), Witch and Hero is sort of a "bad" game. Why, then, is it so fun?? There is a demo. Give it a try. I tried the demo, was seduced by the goofy 8-bitness of it, and enjoyed it enough to buy it, despite it being a rather poor game, and I've had a great time with it. I still like it. Go figure.

I don't think I'd call it "tower defense," though. I know it sort of is, but I think that gives the wrong impression. I don't like tower defense and feel this is different. Give it a try!

At this price, yes. I got it for $5.50 or so the first time I saw it on sale. I got a few hours of fun out of it. The menus are confusing but the gameplay is lots of fun if you like these types of games.
I checked some videos and it looks a lot like Trails HD so I guess ill be picking it up tomorrow.Thanks.

I got it the last time they offered it for free and it transferred to my XL just fine.

I had no problems with transferring from my 3ds to xl.

Trials Fakey-D looks and reviews like a mediocre but ok ripoff of Trials HD.  I don't know if I can buy it out of respect to RedLynx.  On the flipside, Trials is a next-gen evolution of Motocross Maniacs and Excitebike...

Retro City Rampage DX released the other day ($9.99 eShop) but there's pretty much zero news about it.  I don't think it was a smart idea to release smack dab between PokeMon Bank and Bravely Default.  I downloaded it this morning after stumbling upon the fact that it's out.

doubt its worth buying RC if you already have it on the vita

Don't do it man, I had expectations that it would be decent when it hit PS+ on the Vita and I uninstalled it. I don't uninstall anything from the Vita that I don't have it. Saying it's a poor man's Trials is being extremely generous and I can't imagine it's going to be any better on the 3DS.

Re: RCR, apparently they made some welcome changes:

I just downloaded the game and so far, it's my favorite rendition yet. The base game is the same, but the camera is zoomed in and dynamic, making for a very different feeling. NES Remix showed us how different it is to play 2D games like Balloon Fight and Mario Bros. with a zoomed out camera. It changes how much visual information you take in and when you absorb it, which can have a huge effect on your overall experience. Those of you who had a tough time getting into Retro City Rampage before might find that this enhanced 3DS port is just what you needed. If you've already got the game and love it as-is, then this port may be largely unnecessary for you, but it's the version I'll likely be recommending to people from here on out.
