Frisky, I'm considering a $99 2DS from Walmart. I'm not interested in buying physical games for it and would be shopping from the 3DS eShop exclusively. Can you tell me if it has most games available for it like PSN does for Vita? Are the sales comparable to PS+ prices? Thanks.
It's more like PSP in that most games from a certain point on are all pretty much available on the eShop, but there are probably some early games that aren't on there. Sales are nowhere near what PS+ offers, especially for the retail stuff, but there are occasional good deals.

SML2:6GC was a game boy title, yes? Any thoughts on it? And opinions on Minis on the Move? Think those are the two that I'm pondering, although SMB2 might also be fun.

Sweet Im gonna have to get Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.I loved that game as a kid and it might be nostalgia playing a factor here but in my opinion its the best Mario game.

I loved SML2:6GC on the Gameboy as a kid and it was my favorite Mario game for the system. I'm going to buy all the games on sale since these games never go on sale. I hope we get Donkey Kong Jr. for next weeks sale.

Oh, I guess I don't need another system. Thanks for the quick response.
No, you definitely need it. It really is a shame the sales aren't on par with PS+, though. Seems like the retail titles, except for like Atlus and a few others, never go down in price. It's worth it for Atlus alone, though, if you like their games; if not, it's worth it for the Nintendo games alone (if you like their games!).

I'm still annoyed that I have to buy SMB2 twice if I want it on both 3DS and Wii U!  These aren't exactly massive discounts either.  Sigh whine whine.

Yeah, would be nice if the discounts were a bit better. After Steam and Amazon, I'm spoiled, as I'm sure most of us are. I'm also still a bit bitter about them ending the Zelda sale before the Zelda 3DS was released. Ah well.

Do you have to rebuy if you own more than one 3DS? Just bought a 2DS from Walmart's website, and I'm wondering if I can use the same e-shop account and the same SD card between it and my 3DS.

No you can't also why in the world would you buy a 2DS if you already have a 3DS?

Well maybe he wants one to keep by the toilet, or by the bed, or one to take out of the house and one not! Who knows! Why do people have an iPhone and an iPad and an Android tablet and a laptop and desktop and netbook? WHO KNOWS THESE THINGS JUST HAPPEN.

Do you have to rebuy if you own more than one 3DS? Just bought a 2DS from Walmart's website, and I'm wondering if I can use the same e-shop account and the same SD card between it and my 3DS.
I'm in your boat, too. I had a 3DS, then bought an XL. It would be fun to use both, but nope. I hope we are heading towards a system where you can use your Nintendo Network ID on multiple systems and then have access to all your purchases, but there is no evidence that this will ever be the case, and certainly it is not the case now. Each 3DS is its own entity with its own purchase history, blah blah. Once Nintendo Network ID is implemented on 3DS, I don't know how that will change things. I think it's perfectly reasonable to have two 3DSes. I'm giving mine away as a tacky gift to my fiancee.

Let me continue to whine. I'm tempted by Harvest Moon, but it is the inferior of the two 3DS Harvest Moon games on the eShop, and it has been $20 at retail for perhaps a year. I wish very much it was the better Harvest Moon 3D (A New Beginning) for $20. That would be an instant buy. This would be at $10 for sure. But the fact that it's discounted gives me hope that Natsume will discount their other Harvest Moon title. They owe me after I paid full price for ... can't even remember the title (that new game by the Harvest Moon creator) and it sucked.

No you can't also why in the world would you buy a 2DS if you already have a 3DS?
I'm not particularly crazy about the 3D's build. I get hand cramps when using it for long periods, and I've heard good things about the 2D's ergonomics. Also, I barely use the 3D function on the 3DS. Believe it or not, I'm one of the few people who was looking forward to the 2D's release.

Call me an idiot for buying multiple versions of the same hardware, but I know that many CAGs do the same thing. Buying and hoarding different versions of hardware isn't cost-effective, but I know I'm not in the minority as far as this site goes.

Yeah, I barely use the 3D at all myself. I just like the XL's big screen and clamshell design. Your reasoning makes sense to me, and I don't think it's any stranger than my purchase of an XL when I had a 3DS already.

Why isn't Super Mario Bros 3 available in the e-store?

I just recently bought a 3DS primarily just to play some classics, like original Zelda. Mario 3 seems like a major omission from the store. Any story here? Do they continue to add more NES classics over time?

Might be because they made that into GBA game? I want it as well.

Yes.

It's on the coming soon list, at least for Wii U. Generally they release stuff on both 3DS and Wii U now, at least when it's NES games. They're just really slow. Why they didn't just port the whole Wii VC to the Wii U, I don't know, and as for what their strategy is with the 3DS VC, I can't even fathom, but SMB3 will be there soon.

Any non-obvious recommendations on here? Crazy Construction seems interesting and has a 4.5 star rating in the shop, but most of these outside of the Nintendo classics seem pretty throwaway.

Bought the Mario games and 3D Game Classics this morning. Kind of upset that my purchases can't be used on my 3DS and my 2DS since I like the way that 2DS feels in my hands.

I played through the first Super Mario Land and was stunned at how bad it was at being a Mario game, which isn't a surprise when they were still figuring out how to even get a Mario game to work on the Game Boy. Super Mario Land 2 is the game that actually nails the look and feel much better than the original that was more of a Tiger handheld version of Mario.

Honestly, I loved the first Super Mario Land specifically because it wasn't as traditional a Mario game. It went international with levels set in China where he's stomping on jiangshi, heads over to egyptian tombs to fight sphinxes, and fires rubber balls that collect coins and bounce everywhere, and mixed it up with some pseudo-bullet hell shooter levels. The soundtrack is still some of my favorite game music of all time and I can still hum it almost 25 years later.

Anyone have any opinions on Gunman Clive?
It reviewed well. I had fun with it, but I didn't seem to think it was as great as the reviews did. Entertaining little platformer, but it doesn't really have the character of, say, Mutant Mudds (which I haven't actually finished since it's hard enough to make me want to break things).

Mutant Mudds wasn't an enjoyable challenge, I never finished that either.

Gunman Clive is worth $2 bucks. Great looking game, I played through it twice. Megaman-ish gameplay with a western backdrop. It's probably the cheapest quality title on the eShop.

Oh, I forgot it was $2. Yeah, I don't think anyone would regret $2 spent on it.

I have 3.71 left and was debating Gunman Clive or Mario: Six Coins, which I played oh so long ago. I feel like I'd have a hard time enjoying a black and white game, so I was hoping to hear good things about Gunman Clive.

Just a wanted to remind people that the Donkey Kong sales starts tomorrow so grab any Mario games by 8:59 am PT 12/5.

It's been so long since I played it, I remember being really impressed with that A-ha "Take On Me" art style. It's still one of the best looking games in 3D. There is this ridiculous secret character after you beat the game that makes you want to play through the game again just to see how it works.

That said if you can afford the game on sale I'd pick up Mario if you're interested in replaying it. GC will always be $2 and will be waiting next time you don't have enough to buy anything else.

Chain Blaster, Crazy Construction, and Undead Bowling have demos on the eShop, so you can at least try those out for yourself.

I thought Crazy Construction was cute but ultimately about as trashy as the junk falling from the sky that you use in the game.  This is just based on my impression of the demo.

What's the deal with Fractured Soul?  It shows on the eShop website that it's on sale for $7.99, even has a little "on sale" icon:

G9gdbqiBuMwzGKasKjDVH3qQa9JFXch0.png

But on the actual 3DS eShop it still shows up at $11.99.

I want to punish myself with something so hard that HardcoreGamer.com had to review it based on the first 1/4 of the game because they couldn't get any farther, but not at full price!

Anyone Think There's A Chance Animal crossing New Leaf Will Go On SaLe At Any point During This Winter SaLe? Seems it'S All VC And Smaller Titles. Was Hoping To Possibly Double DIp The Discounts Using The Best Buy Eshop Sale. Also, Only Want It Digitally....

And Yes, I Know My Phone Formats strangely On ThIs SiTe... it's WEird And I Don't Know Why

Haven't heard anything about a winter sale yet, but Nintendo doesn't really put their retail/eShop titles on sale much if at all so that's not likely to happen.
