Going to in-store pickup an e-shop gift card tomorrow, then snag both Starship Damrey and Friday Monsters, as I've been interested in both. I'm fairly excited.

fuck yeah Crimson shroud is finally on sale again so I'll be picking that up. Now that leaves me with $25 credit to buy uhhh...I dunno. Saw some people mention Attack of the Friday Monsters so I'll check that out. Anything else?
I just bought crimson shroud a few weeks back thinking it would never go back on sale... lesson learned. Great game though!

In for "Crimson Shroud", "The Starship Damrey", and  "Attack of the Friday Monsters".  $5.00 a pop was the sweet spot for these.  Thanks for keeping the list updated.

I see people saying Crimson Shroud is a "maybe."  I see others saying Attack of the Friday Monsters is a "maybe."

You maybe folks should just buy these games on principle.  Better yet, do it for me.  Do it for love.

How is Attack of the Friday Monsters?
It's awesome, but you have to be into what it's doing.

It's set-up like a top-down RPG, similar to Final Fantasy I-IX, Dragon Quest I-VII, whatever. It does not have leveling up or combat, though, because it's more of a visual-novel style game, set in Tokyo in the 60s. (There is a mini-game that is kind of like combat, though.)

It also reminds me of computer game adventures from the 90s a bit. So, mix that with a Japanese visual novel and a Japanese console-RPG, add in some weirdness, and there you go. You play as a kid.

I really like it a lot.

I wasn't thinking about going to BBY for the eShop card sales, but now I am with "Liberation Maiden" and "...Friday Monsters"!

I haven't finished Starship Damrey, but it seems like a very quiet adventure game. Don't get me wrong though, I like it so far :) There have been a few, really creepy moments ;)

I really enjoyed Starship Damrey. It's marketed as a horror game, but it's more of a solitary adventure. Once you've decided to get Damrey, I recommend not reading ANYTHING else about it. Part of the fun is that the game doesn't explain its controls or premise at all to you.

It's only a couple hours long, but definitely worth it. And stick around after the credits.

I'm excited to play it! I passed initially after thinking it was a horror game and seeing middling scores. I didn't really want a Dead Space or Resident Evil. However, I read a little more, and rather than "horror" it seems to be more psychological. And I like the idea of figuring stuff out as I go. I am hoping it's not a duck around corners with crappy controls and get hit from behind and have to fight a giant monster with a broken broom while the controls again suck kind of thing.

That sounds pretty rad. Hadn't even heard of this one before. Thanks for selling me on it.

No problem! I was trying pretty hard. I hope you like it! I think you will, if that sounds good. I couldn't help but smile the whole time I was playing it, and I loved the setting.

Wish I had paid more attention to the eShop earlier on. There's some legitimately cool stuff on there.

Where can I buy 3DS memory cards?
Amazon.com. Any SD card 32GB and under, class 4 or better, should work fine if it's reputable. (People have used cards above 32GB, too, but it takes some fiddling and apparently can cause issues.)

I like Sandisk Ultra, but it might be overkill. I also had a bad card once, and it caused stuttering and load times. But the one it comes with is only class 4, I think, so as long as it's decent and class 4 or above, it should be fine.

Others can chime in hopefully.

Will this one work?

SanDisk - 16GB Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) Memory Card

I got it off of BestBuy website and it says 14.99.  This whole 3DS memory card stuff always confused me.  Thanks for the help.

This one is cheaper and better!  Amazon instead of BB though.  (And, again, might not matter if it's better anyway if class 4 is as fast as the 3DS will go.)

And for a little bit more money, you could get the 32GB Sandisk Ultra that I use and love.

@jesse_dylan I started up Link Between Worlds last night and now see what you mean about the music. Very cool re-imaginings of classics. I think I'd only put it a tad beneath FE:A's score because it's not original, but it still is as good as you claimed.

Isn't it amazing?? There are a few tracks that I don't recognize from A Link to the Past, too. Some do come from other Zelda games, but I think some may be original as well. Anyway, some of these original (if they are original) tracks might even be the best on the whole soundtrack. I enjoy game soundtracks very much, and there are a lot of good ones, but it's rare for me, as I'm playing, to think things like "I really need to get this soundtrack on CD!" (or iTunes or whatever)

Wouldn't mind getting the FE:A soundtrack too for that matter.

Shipping kills it for me. But what do you mean by making 3DS faster? The games will load faster?

That Best Buy one is probably fine! Basically, if you get a card that is slower than the 3DS wants, games will kind of stutter a bit (as well as loading slower). However, the 3DS maxes out pretty low on the scale anyway. The one it came with is a class 4, I think, so anything faster than what the 3DS can use will be pointless anyway.

So I think you're safe! Sandisk is a good brand. It should be just like the stock card, only much more space to work with.

Picked up Crimson Shroud and Attack of the Friday Monsters. Thanks to all the input from this thread.

I am still pondering about Liberation Maiden and Starship Damrey.

Okay folks, I know I might be the only one who cares, but what's the deal with the pictures that come in pieces in Mii Street Pass Plaza?  I have gotten the majority of my tiles from streetpassing people, but, you know, sometimes I get a little impatient and I want more, so I spend some extra play coins.  I spend 10 coins tonight and got... one... new piece.  That's 10%.  Or... maybe it's 20%.  One new piece out of five, though (yeah that's 20% lololol).

I mean really.  What the hell?  Why can't I just have a new piece each time?  There's no way I'm ever going to complete all these damn things.

It's one of the StreetPass games where you share puzzle pieces via StreetPasses or purchase a random piece, new or old, and try to complete puzzles. When you StreetPass with someone, you get to choose any piece they have, which gives you the option to get new puzzles or try to complete ones that you already have. When you complete a puzzle, you get a neat animated 3D model to view in the main menu of the StreetPass Plaza.

It's pretty cool, but I just never seem to be able to complete anything.  And it really irks me when I spend coins buying pieces and it just ends up being pieces I already have.  :(

I think I have about 500/900 pieces, which seems pretty good, but seriously, I have only completed like the first 5-6 panels.

Finish a panel (or at least get all the blue pieces in a panel) and you won't get any more duplicate pieces from it by using play coins.

I find I'm usually able to keep up with the puzzles without too much trouble, but then I go places with other gamers and get tags semi-often.

Also, Tokyo.  That vacation helped considerably.

Picked up Damrey, Friday Monsters and Bugs vs Tanks.  I don't see anyone talking about Crazy Construction, but its actually pretty fun, and its very quirky/japanese.  Its similar to Trash Panic but opposite.  Here you stack random junk up to meet a bar without it all falling over.  There's a demo for it.  That's what sold me on it a few months ago.

One word: HomePass.

I had a Class 4 and it took forever to save and load for Monster Hunter 3U. I also noticed it took quite a considerable amount of time to get to the home screen from Animal Crossing (which is on my SD). I've got a Class 10 now and there is no slowdown at all.

Yikes. Was it a bad one? Offbrand? I hope I didn't misadvise the poor guy into getting a slow card. I thought the card that came with the system was a class 4?

I had a class 10 that was slow (Kingston) for some reason. I have a Sandisk Ultra now, also class 10, and it's great.

Mine was a 4GB Patriot Memory. I plucked it from one of my digital cameras to upgrade from the 2GB that comes with the 3DS, and I remember thinking that all SD cards performed the same. My current was is a 32GB Transcend

You totally just sold me on this, downloading it now. Excited to start it up later, thanks!

To add to the memory card discussion, I highly doubt anyone would ever need more than 8GB(which is what I have). I've got:

13 NES games

10 GBA games

6 3D Classics

19 GB games

17 DSiWare games

17 eShop games

2 3DS full games

6 GBC games

as well as all the 3DS-centric apps & my card is still only half full.
