How is arc style soccer. The dearth of sports games on the 3ds has me considering it.
wondering the same. The trailer makes it look god awful but it has many positive reviews. The players move so slowly and there doesn't seem to be any physics system in place for the ball...it seems like the ball just"sticks" to the nearest player.

graphically, it looks like the artist ate a bunch of white and green pixels then shat them out in 3d.

still, I can't wrap my head around the 4.5/5 user rating and 120+ positive reviews.

The only people that will play the game for an hour and then do the rating on the eShop are those who enjoy it, so that whole system favors good reviews over bad ones.

Now the big question is heading out the Bestbuy for the eshop cards or ordering them online and hoping the arrive before some of these sales end..

ok, I have not spent much time on it and have not done tournament, only exhibition but   well...  I think the trailer is true to the gameplay.

the ball stick to the player, you move the player, button to pass/kick/steal etc.  maybe you can hook the ball etc, I have not figure that out (haven't read manual if there is one).

it's sort of like the old arcade type sports game. (no physics) . think it would be kick of fun to pass the time, but there is no modern gameplay to speak of so far...    seem like there is some character/team management element that may be fun but I have not play the tournament, only enhibition where you can chose between 4-5 teams.

not too worry about it for $5, but if you are looking for soccer, you will probably be disappointed, even at that price.

It seems like a few posters haven't heard of Cave Story and therefore might not realize the original PC version can be had for free at http://www.cavestory.org/downloads_game.php . There's no gameplay differences between all versions but retail versions have updated graphics and music and some have an extra area (I think Cave Story 3D is the exception, iirc it doesn't have the sky temple).

So for those on the fence for this amazing platform adventure game, try the original. If you like it, buy it (or if you're a PC gamer maybe pick it up on steam).

Edit: Actually here's a list of all the different releases and differences right on their site. Convenient!

It did, around the time Diablo came out, I ended up upgrading to a 1 gig HD for that beast, it still runs too. Run old DOS games on it.
Touche. Speaking of upgrading for Diablo I remember getting more RAM for Diablo II. Ran so much smoother afterwards :D I kept that PC around to play old Win 95/98 games too. I played Resident Evil 2 on it actually. It was awesome.

It's a shame the 3DS version doesn't have the upgraded graphics like the Wiiware/PC version. Oh well. Never played any version of this game anyway, might pick it up while it's on sale. Getting a 3DS Xl and a 32GB card so feel like I should download a few games besides virtual console. Only picked up The Starship Damrey so far.

If I have a micro sdhc card from a cellphone what do I need to switch it to my 3dsxl, just a micro sd adapter ?

If I get one of those ultra cheap ones on ebay from china for like a dollar am I going to greatly regret it ? (ie is it going to easily break and corrupt all my data)

I did it for my psp and never had any problems, but then again I rarely played it

Seems like I accidentially bought Crazy Construction. I meant to download the demo and bought the game. Ah well. There are far worse and more expensive things I could have bought.

I said I bought Crazy Construction accidentially. I nearly almost bought one of those Adventure Time games. I wasn't paying super attention, apparently. When I went to get the demo, I think the buy button was at the bottom of the screen. I nearly bought the game before I realized what I was about to do. Unfortunately, had already made mistake with Crazy Construction, but at least it's cheap.

One of the Adventure Time games is pretty great. The other is pretty cruddy.
Aw, man... That's disappointing to hear. I was looking forward to playing the new one(assuming that's the one you mean by cruddy) on my PS3. Now I suppose I'll just wait for it to hit $10.

Yeah, wait on the newer Adventure Time to go down to around $5. The first game is a simpler Zelda II clone, but really enjoyable.

It sounds like it's beyond mediocre. Strange when the first one was so good. WayForward is a good company, but maybe they were rushed. It's a shame licensed stuff nearly always ends up sucking. I don't even like Adventure Time, but I like that first game. Makes me wish Nintendo would do another game (Zelda or otherwise) in that style.

Unfortunately Miyamoto hated Zelda II so the chances of another Zelda in the same vein are pretty much non-existent. I actually like the game and playing it after so many years since its release, it really was ahead of its time. It would make a great 3D remake a la Ocarina of Time.

I gave up on part 2 when I was younger but I recently bought it on the eshop and finally beat it after all these years. The beginning is still frustrating and the game is filled with potential cheap deaths but I'm glad I stuck with it. Once I got used to the gameplay I enjoyed it a lot.

It's a great game with some serious, serious design deficiencies.  Perhaps it was said deficiencies Miyamoto dislikes.  It could easily be redone in a more sensible, less-frustrating manner.  I played it about a year ago on the 3DS, making liberal use of save states, and it was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.  Could have been such an amazing game otherwise.

Once you realize some of the things you can do in the game that you can benefit from in the early goings of the game, it becomes more enjoyable. I used to play Zelda II religiously when I was kid, more so than the original, and failed at it. But in recent times I went back to it and being a seasoned gamer, I've come to respect the game a lot. It's pretty underrated, to be quite honest.

what do you guys think of attack of the friday monsters?
I've liked it so far, even though there really isn't any gameplay. It's definitely a love letter for a different era, and something I have no nostalgia for. But it's still really charming.

I know it's an unfair comparison, but you can get a lot of game for $5 on steam or ios (or wherever). So paying $5 for such a short, niche title is more about supporting these types of games. But it still doesn't feel great. Nintendo should really loosen things up with these sales.

Every few months I try to see what's new and worth getting on the eShop and every time I'm so incredibly disappointed. It's such a wasteland I can't even justify combining these deals with 20% off a card for lack of things to buy.

To each his own. I've picked up The Starship Damrey, Crazy Construction (albiet accidentially), Witch and Hero, Attack of the Friday Monsters, and the new Phoenix Wright game. Should keep me busy for a while.

I sure would like a sale on Harmoknight...

I really wasn't a fan of Zelda 2 back then. But I played through it on 3DS via the Ambassador program. It's got some similarities to Dark Souls. Still not my favorite by any stretch, but I'm cool with Zelda 2 now.

These sales are great. I just picked up Cave Story and VVVVVV.

I'm considering Mutant Mudds but I may want the cross buy Vita/PS3 version instead. Can't decide.

Has anyone played Mutant Mudds on Vita and 3DS? Which one do you think is better?
If anyone is still debating this: I enjoyed Mutant Mudds on the 3DS, but the platforming is so tight that the whole time I was just thinking to myself "I'd rather play this on the Vita." I love my 3DS but I don't feel as though the analog nub is particularly well-suited for precise 2D games like this, it was definitely designed with 3D games more in mind. After playing through Rayman Origins on the Vita, I know that's not an issue on that platform and wish there were more 2D platformers on Vita.

Well, you already said yourself it's an unfair comparison. :) But I think you're right that it's meant to target a certain nostalgic vibe. It works for me, though, and I didn't grow up in Japan either. If I had my way, everyone would buy Friday Monsters, but I know that's not how it works.

Can't you use the d-pad on the 3DS, though? That said, I bet it looks awesome on the Vita's screen. I already have the 3DS version and should just stick with it, but when there are sales, I am a chronic double- (sometimes triple-)dipper :/

Yes, you can definitely use the D-Pad on the 3DS to play Mutant Mudds. I don't understand the point in criticising the circle pad when the D-Pad is there for the using.

Fishdom H2O: Hidden Odyssey - $3.99 - 20% Off - Ends 1/6
This title made me think it was going to be some sweet fishing RPG like Legend of the River King but nope it's some dumb hidden objects game. Now I'm going to have to go download Legend of the River King from the eShop. Even worse I'm pretty sure it was on sale not that long ago (or maybe it was on CN) and I passed for some silly reason.

Picked up SMT IV and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Pretty difficult game though and I'm only about an hour into it!
Hmm. This is why I'm just going to wait on a physical copy. I've read it's pretty challenging, especially for newcomers. I may want to unload if it proves too much for my nOOBness.

If you pre-ordered it, it came with a strategy guide. I don't know if it still comes with that, but that could be something that you'd want.

The game itself isn't necessarily that difficult. It's more that you're expected to understand the systems very well because the game requires you to almost try and exploit them. So if you're under leveled, or don't have the demons with the right skills and resistances you run into these fights that become impossible and create these massive difficulty spikes.

That's just gaming 101. You don't hack away at enemy whose armor is strong against blunt damage, neutral against slash and weak against pierce with a hammer....
