Etrian Odyssey Untold - Millenium Girl hot takes:
I played the demo and fell in love. I didn't life previous EO games because they were too time intensive (draw the map of every dungeon) and too difficult (required too much grinding for my tastes). This game, which is a remake of the first Etrian Odyssey game on DS, introduces an "auto-draw" map function that puts the walls and floors down as you walk across them. This one also has the "Casual" mode introduced in EO4, which gives less punishments for dying and some other gameplay tweaks to make it a bit easier, but it's still not childlike, brainless easy. I still died A LOT, but was never frustrated.

TL;DR: Best Etrain Odyssey game for beginners; first time I enjoyed the series.

Might get Aero Porter since that's only one of the Guild series that I didn't buy from the last sale.  So is North America getting Weapon Shop de Omasse soon?  Saw that it will be available in Europe, apparently as I type this.

They do cards, but also free shipping.
Okay, thanks. Only problem is it wouldn't get here in time to use before the Overclocked sales expires. May just grab it for $20.

How is Nintendo's purchase history now a days? I've never purchased retail games on the Eshop on fear of losing my 3DS XL and losing those games. Are the purchases tied to my Nintendo ID now?

Correction: shipping is free on orders $25 and up.

No, purchases are not tied to your Nintendo Network ID.

Finally got Weapon Shop de Omasse.  This is the one (along with Friday Monsters and Crimson Shroud) I wanted most.  I wonder why they suddenly decided it was finally okay for the West?

I don't really like rhythm games much personally, but the combination of rhythm game and the whole "I'm the seller in a weapon shop in a JRPG!" really gets me.  It's like a "sim" with rhythm elements that makes fun of JRPGs.  I hope more than just me and eleven other people buy it.

So it's still tied to the system? That mean if your console breaks or is stolen there is no way of retrieving your games on a new device?

It's crazy Nintendo is so far behind Industry standard on this, such a no-brainer.

If your console "breaks" Nintendo will transfer your eShop transaction history to a new unit after being repaired.

There's also a procedure in place in case of theft, though I'm unsure of it as I've never had to deal with it myself.

In the event that it's stolen, I've heard you can provide some proof like a police report, and Nintendo may be able to get you your games back. I'm not sure if this is always the case though.

The Nintendo Network IDs are a step in the right direction. Hopefully soon Nintendo can set things right.

Thanks for the help guys. I've gone purely digital with my Vita and would do the same with 3DS if Nintendo figures out the account situation and have better sales.

I think I'll probably take the plunge and grab Overclocked.

It's a rhythm game? Well I'm sold.

Well, it has rhythm elements... But it isn't a rhythm game in the sense of Parappa the Rapper or anything really. However, if you like rhythm games and JRPGs, you'll be in heaven. Maybe just liking one or the other is enough. I'm not sure.

I didn't really like the Final Fantasy rhythm game, but I like this one a lot.

A co-worker of mine had his 3DS stolen by an employee of a hotel he was staying at. Nintendo would not transfer games without a police report and the hotel would not attempt to file a report because of the bad publicity. This was before NNIDs, though.

I don't think I would have accepted "won't file a police report due to bad publicity".

I think they'd have been talking to my legal representation at that point.

Saw this and im running away.

How its tied to the system over the ID is like they want to screw people over. Make them repurchase games they already bought if they lose their 3ds.

I wasnt much of a fan buying digital on PSN but now that I see this I will NEVER purchase anything digital from the eshop unless its a free download.

I actually had a better transfer experience than I thought. I had bought a Zelda Wii U bundle a few months ago but had to return it because I needed the money for tires. I ended up re-buying a Wii U the other day (Zelda/NG3/W101 Bundle from eBay) when it was on sale and called Nintendo support, which picked up right away, and explained that I could not log in with my NNID and about the systems. He said no big deal, found the serial of the old system through my Club Nintendo account and I gave him the new serial of the current system. About 5 days later I was able to login to the new system with my NNID and re-download the few VC games I bought as well as re-download the Hyrule Historia and Wind Waker HD games I redeemed with the first Wii U.

Thankfully things were very smooth. 5 days seemed like a long time though for all that to happen.

Sheesh you guys are vehement.  Do you constantly lose things or something?  I realize it only takes once, and for me, losing my 3DS would be a disaster.  But I've never lost a game console in my life, and I keep my 3DS safe.

I think it's too late for this generation to expect Nintendo to link purchases to the network ID.  I doubt there's any way to fix the infrastructure with firmware updates.  Sure would be nice, though.

Having been robbed at gunpoint once, I'm always wondering if I'll get robbed again. I lost my digital camera back then. If I lost my 3DS, I would totally cry.

Yuck, that's awful!  I think at gunpoint I'd be more worried about being shot than any of my electronics, but yeah, that would definitely be the icing on the cake there.

Well, I won't drag us into a discussion of armed robbery at this point, even though I sort of want to.

Interesting releases for this week:

Kung Fu Rabbit - $4.99

Queel: Reflect - $3.99

Weapon Shop de Omasse - $7.99

And there are three episodes of Inazuma Eleven that you can stream on the eShop.

Kung Fu Rabbit is actually pretty decent, $5 may be a bit too high though.
It's been on sale for Wii U and Vita for $2.50, so that'll happen if $5 is too much.

This is a video I did of the Wii U version for those that want to see it in action:

It´s not so much that I am worried about losing the device as much as I am worried about the amount of games and money I can accumulate on the system. Combined with the fact its tied to hardware and not a account.

For instance on PSN I have more money or about as much as the PS3 itself cost. But at least its tied to a account and not a piece of hardware.

Someone who drops a few hundreds bucks on digital titles and then loses their 3DS would have more to worry about then just the lost 3DS.

bought weapon shop earlier today. pretty happy we are getting this game so quick.

I enjoyed quell on tablet, may get it on 3ds.

Well, for those holding out on the 20% off eShop cards from Best Buy to pick up those Level-5 Guild 01/02 games, it might not work. :(

Time is running out on our eShop sale! In honor of the recent releases of INAZUMA ELEVEN and WEAPON SHOP de OMASSE, all of our previous eShop titles are available for $2.99/€2.99/₤2.69 each!

This sale will only run until 9 AM PST on the 23rd, so pick up CRIMSON SHROUD, LIBERATION MAIDEN, AERO PORTER, BUGS vs. TANKS!, THE STARSHIP DAMREY, and/or ATTACK OF THE FRIDAY MONSTERS! A TOKYO TALE on sale while you can!
Ugh, what do I do?! :whistle2:? Best Buy opens late on Sundays; by the time it does, the sale on those games are supposed to end. Do I just head to Best Buy and grab myself an eShop card tomorrow and do a price adjustment later on?

"The Guarantee is limited to one price match per identical item, per guest and does not apply to: gift card offers"

From best buy's fine print.

If you want one/them and got a visa or master card, just order them via the credit card.

Dang, I missed that. I suppose that's one alternative. Thanks. :)

I just picked up a $20 e shop card. I thought I was going to purchase Inazuma Eleven for the 3DS, but I am wondering, if there is a cartridge version, and if it is any different from the 3DS e-shop Digital Version. I am new to digital games, so don't know if I can justify spending $20 on one game. Anyone who bought Inazuma Eleven, have any advice, as to whether getting the digital game?
