So, this might have been answered, but if one was to just get one of the pheonix wright games, would you recommend the Trilogy or Dual Destinies?
Depends if you want to play in order or not, the trilogy are the first three games of the series and dual destinies is the next part.

I'd say Dual Destinies. The reason I say this is because it's a little cheaper and made for the 3DS. The Trilogy is great, but as someone else said if you have an iOS device (I do not) you can get the trilogy from the app store for like $10. I think Dual Destinies is probably the best game in the series though.

Awesome. Thanks! I think I'll go with Dual Destinies since, like you all said, it's made for 3DS, it's cheaper, and the trilogy is also available on iOS.

Don't go for Dual Destinies. There's good continuity throughout the whole series and you'd be missing out on all of it if you skipped directly to the fifth game. Get the Trilogy pack on 3DS (the iOS version is horrible, riddled with bugs, typos, worse music, and more), that contains the first three games. After that pick up Apollo justice for the DS, then you're good to go for Dual Destinies.

Also recommend checking out the Investigations spinoff games anytime after you best Apollo Justice. Investigations 2 in particular is absolutely fantastic and has a great fan translation.

Nah, 25% off there, too. Frig, man, disappointments abound for portables. Was hoping to get that supposedly free WayForward game on PSN and Space Harrier on the eShop.
Indeed, I'll probably bite on Trilogy none the less. Too bad about the SEGA stuff but makes it easier to spend a bit more on PW. Don't understand why they won't put the first two Shantae games on sale though. :p

They're only interested in promoting the most recent parts of their 25 year history. Forget about that old shit.

Which Mighty Switch Force games should I get (on Wii U or 3DS)? Or should I buy all of them?
If you have to get one of them, you'll be fine with either since they're basically the same game. I enjoyed the first enough to finish it, but there wasn't much about it that makes it something everybody should experience.

Agreed, I have the first game and will get the second one for $1.50 since I enjoyed the first one. As cheap as they are right now though, I would recommend getting them both.

It just seems weird because people want a sale on it and they could have used it to promote the series but it's clear they just like putting Mighty Switch Force on sale.

Oh hey, I actually do have enough for MSF2. Just barely. I might still pick up a $25 card for the AA Trilogy though. We'll see. It's not a priority so maybe I can wait for the next sale on those.

Dammit, I just bought Dual Destinies for $29.99 earlier this week! Grrrrrr :wall:
Never buy a game at MSRP and you won't have this problem again.

There was a second Investigations?

Yeah, but Capcom was to lazy or stupid(maybe both) to translate it, so the fans took matters in to their own hands. I have it, but I'm working my way through the series again before I play that and 5. I heard it was one of the best games in either series, so look it up.

Does anyone know if you purchase a Monster Hunter 4 N3DSXL if you get the following promo?

  • Purchase Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, get a Gore Magala & Seregios theme until 3/15/15.
Technically I purchased Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.... Anyone know of this?

Well, Investigations 1 didn't sell too hot and when Capcom USA decided to bring it over, the team that worked on the original games were separated and on other projects, so they never got around to it.

For those wondering if you need Apollo Justice or if you need to play the Trilogy before DD, each Ace Attorney game is designed so that any and all relevant information from previous games is reintroduced in that game, whether through character narration or flashbacks. That being said, only a few characters and plot details from Apollo Justice return in Dual Destinies and the plot point is a really minor one. The biggest gain from having played the previous games is getting more out of certain character interactions (such as Phoenix returning to the courtroom or his battle with Edgeworth), but anything plot-related is either glossed over or implied.

I love the ace attorney series and played all of them but for keeping the memory alive, I feel like the iOS port will last longer than an eshop title. I'd love to justify it but it is what it is.

That being said these are great games if you are at all interested in visual novels. Don't miss them.

If you are looking at Dual Destinies though and you are hard at hearing or def know that it has some cut scenes and nothing is subtitled. I know this has been a deal breaker for a lot of people. Nothing is so substantial that you won't understand the game or get the gist from watching but it should be said for those with disabilities.

Hopefully, won't be on 3DS though.
Don't think anyone expected it to be.

I don't think I could play these games on my phone, the 3DS screens + stylus setup is much more comfortable imo.

Doesn't mean that we're not all reminded how stupid that is every time.

All comes down to preference. I loved playing Dual Destinies and Ghost Trick on my iPad. I don't game much on my phone(It's an android so I couldn't play this on it anyway). I didn't feel like I missed anything but I never played DD on 3ds only the originals on ds/dsi. The lower screen always largely felt unneeded and in fact the original games were released as GBA titles in Japan so it made sense to me that it felt that way. I enjoyed having the larger screen and the high res graphics.

Way to post that and quell my disappointment jerk. Can't stay mad at that face.
Since it's the face of Nintendo of America in my mind, I sure as heck can.

What, is this a eShop-only promo? I have a physical copy that I haven't broken into yet.

I really appreciate you mentioning that Dual Destines has cutscenes that aren't captioned. I am hearing impaired and usually play games with my hearing devices out. I'll have to make sure I put them in for that game so I don't miss anything. Thank you!

I remembered that you have mentioned that in the past and was thinking about it as I wrote it. I'm glad you still will play the game. You primarily need them between chapters but sometimes between days. If it looks like something is coming to a conclusion it might be worthwhile to put them in.

I am not disabled but it bothers me just because I primarily play mobile games in places where sound isn't appropriate (ie. Bed next to sleeping wife, airplanes, work, etc.). I would think this is pretty common but maybe that's a bad assumption? Really all mobile games with dialogue should have subs.

Best Phoenix Wright game of the two for new comers?
If you haven't played any get trilogy. Its the first three games in one package. Characters are much stronger in the first three. Gameplay has evolved but not too much over the series but its best to start the story from the beginning.

Anyone played Aeterno Blade? Any good? $5 right now.
I played the demo. It seemed decent and I wanted some more CN points so I picked it up.
