I love the ace attorney series and played all of them but for keeping the memory alive, I feel like the iOS port will last longer than an eshop title.
I'm not sure sure. It seems like Apple breaks half the stuff on the App Store every time they roll out a new iOS. I sold my copy of The World Ends with You, thinking I'd have the iOS version forever, but it doesn't work on iOS 8, and Sq-En doesn't seem like they're going to update it. I now fear for my Dragon Quests as well. Nothing against the iOS version, though--I'm sure it's great, and it is undeniably handy, higher-resolution, and a lot of other good things.

I really appreciate you mentioning that Dual Destines has cutscenes that aren't captioned.

I've never understood this. Why not have an option for captions, or if all else fails, just have them? I know some people like to turn captions off, but it seems like it's more important to have them available. I can hear fine, but I'm not always going to be in a position where I can crank the volume once a cutscene starts. Another thing that bugs me is cutscenes that can't be paused, or cutscenes that you try to pause and end up skipping. Drives me crazy! What am I supposed to do if the phone rings, or I'm in public, or have to suddenly take a giant poop?

Yeah, but Capcom was to lazy or stupid(maybe both) to translate it,
I don't think it's laziness or stupidity. Capcom is a capitalistic business, not a grant-funded art house. They were merely attempting to not lose money. We're lucky we've gotten any of these games at all, and we're even more lucky that they are apparently now selling quite well, which is definitely not what Capcom expected.

That is true and it has happened to me but its pretty rare and I would put a lot more faith in retaining my digital purchases with Apple than Nintendo who up until a year ago didn't even let you share wallets between platforms, still has antiquated account systems, doesn't allow multi account, and painful system transfers.

Nintendo struggles and wonders why handhelds aren't doing as well as they used to do but the reality is phones are very convenient and consumer friendly. For instance, I hate having physical cartridges on a portable device but if I don't want physical on 3ds I have to give up all the normal things you expect (not being able to resell, can't lend it out, etc.) but Nintendo has a few more caveats that just aren't the case on other platforms. The biggest are I can't let my wife/kid/anyone play it on a different device and probably have to pay more for it and a have to pay a lot more for an equivalent game on the system. It just all hits me wrong and makes it so I rarely allow myself to buy anything from the eshop unless it's a great deal or I'm dying to play it.

I agree. But if you're on a DS system, just close the lid. For Sony, there's the PS button, for the most part. It drives me nuts on those occasions where the scene plays on even after hitting PS.

Is this confirmed or just a "Hey, it's been a few weeks without one!" joke?

Cause I held out on getting SMTIV digital and Survivor last sale and have been itching for them to drop again.
It's in the PR for this week's eShop releases:

So I got mighty switch force 1 on wii u for the upgraded graphics and additions, but it seems MSF 2 is largely the same on both systems, with the added 3D on the 3DS.  And same price on both, so I think I'll go 3DS on that one. Or am I missing any differences that would make me want wii u version?

Nope, same game for the second one as far as I'm aware. Same reasons I got the first on Wii U and second on 3DS.

I agree with you. Every portable console should have the option for subtitles. It's an added cost from the developer, but damnit, i want to be able to play with the sound off in bed. Wife gets mad when I have to turn it up a little to hear dialog. End up on the couch playing (which is comfy, but not bed "comfy") instead for an hour.

Does anyone know if you purchase a Monster Hunter 4 N3DSXL if you get the following promo?

  • Purchase Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, get a Gore Magala & Seregios theme until 3/15/15.
Technically I purchased Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.... Anyone know of this?
Unfortunately, no. I read some people called Nintendo and the reason they were give was that they don't get the themes since they got a discount on the digital game.

The discount being they paid $200 for the console + $40 for the game in a bundle pack for $240. "Discount."

Anyway, it's just a theme. But still.

That's pretty crappy of Nintendo to say that. Regardless of the price, if you purchase a digital copy of preinstalled copy or whatever, you should get the themes.

If you buy a 3ds game at a heavily discounted price, do the nintendo coins inside the case stop working? Nintendo doesn't say, "oh, it seems you bought this on sale....., yeah, you cant get the free themes....."

That's bogus.

Sadly, that's the current state of "N". They are going to run themselves right out of the business. I know tons of long term fans who are just fed up with the BS.

So nothing at all for the people who bought a physical copy, eh, Nintendo?

Fine. I guess I can put up with only getting the game and the pin for just under $5 total.

If you haven't played any get trilogy. Its the first three games in one package. Characters are much stronger in the first three. Gameplay has evolved but not too much over the series but its best to start the story from the beginning.

I played the demo. It seemed decent and I wanted some more CN points so I picked it up.
Does Aeterno Blade even have CN coins? I don't see it on the list. I'm guessing you'll only get a +10 for post play?

Demo for Aeternoblade was almost good enough for me to want to buy it but not quite good enough. It's definitely got a distinct feel to the combat though.

I don't even like MSF that much and it's worth $1.50. It should have retailed that cheap.

Good price for Etrian Odyssey IV! Has anyone played Conception II?

ShinIV or Phoenix trilogy?

Decisions, decisions.

I played a Phoenix demo. It was good. I like RPG's. Not too familiar with Atlus games but I like demons and stuff.

I believe there are older Shantae games on the eShop if you want a cheaper way to see if you like them.
I wouldn't recommend doing that since the first game is quite dated and should only be played if you get into the series. And Risky's Revenge can be gotten cheaper on Steam and/or you should just wait for the Director's cut to come to 3DS.

I can't give a recommendation on Pirate's curse since I haven't played it yet, but it's gone on sale twice for this price since releasing last year, so I imagine it will go on sale again if you miss this one. Maybe not as often as atlus sales, but the chance is there.

Code of Princess being on sale so often tempts me regularly, but maybe I'm one of the few people who prefer physical copies of retail games. If it's digital-only, so be it. I'll buy it. But if it has a physical version, I'll get ahold of it, play it, and trade it down the line.

I used to be that way but the sheer convenience with increasingly acceptable prices has basically pushed me into it on all platforms. Now I only get physical games if it's significantly cheaper for me to do so, don't see myself playing/keeping it very long, or there's some other value in having it (like a rare game). One of those things where in an ideal world it would be nice to have all those boxes and carts/discs and junk but all the packaging has become so cheap and minimal anyway.

The problem for me is I'm already really close to the maximum number (300) of icons (games, demos, etc) you can have on the Home screen of the 3DS. I've already had to delete a bunch of demos, and will likely have to go through another round of deletions soon. Not sure what I'm going to do when all I have is games left though :(

Which begs the question, if you have plenty of memory on your SD card (like I do) why did Nintendo cap the amount of icons you can have on your home screen to 300?

Could you put stuff into folders Josef ?

Is Shantae and the Pirates Curse worth it if I've never played a Shantae game before?
I downloaded it last week and really enjoy the game. It's a really fun Metroidvania style platforming adventure game, the graphics and animations are also top notch for the 3DS. I would say the game is definitely worth $15. I haven't seen it go on sale for any less than that since it launched, which is why I decided to pick it up this time around. As someone else said the past Shantae games are available on the eShop for less, but Pirates Curse is the best of the bunch and if you are going to play one, you should play the best one.

I saw some Lego games on the 3ds store. I really like the marvel one for the ps3. Are any of the games good for the 3ds? Are they changed much from the console version?

Yes, there are big differences between the console LEGO games and the portable ones. Best to just watch YouTube vids on them to see what I mean.
