So worth it for $20? I'm not really into the whole big boob Japanese thing, although I did just get into Kill La Kill and I can't stop watching that. So is that somewhat anything like that?

I hated Senran Kagura Burst. And I absolutely love animu girl boobies and most of the characters. it's such a boring game. You have fun for the initial three levels where the main loop of slice slice slice launch air slice air slice air slice SLAM is decent fun but then you have like six billion levels of nothing beyond that to go. The performance is trash too, because I don't think it was optimized for digital only distribution, though I haven't tried it on my New 3DS.

LOTS of story. Some of it is charming but most of it is sappy and/or stupid, with of course Japan's all-encompassing neurosis surrounding school admissions informing plot points about secret ninja academies.

Someone called SKB an "otaku care package" and I almost think that's the way to describe it. There's so much cute animu girls doing cute things between the levels and crammed all around the levels that you can't call it just a brawler and really describe the experience accurately...

Also, check the pronoun: Murasame. He. That's the male character. And he's supposed to be a joke. He's Ikaruga's brother and if you've seen HER backstory you'd remember him (Although that was story was a cruel, sappy joke more than a funny one.). So that DLC isn't really worth it.

I'll be the first to admit Senran Kagura's problems; repetitive gameplay and low framerate in busy scenes. But I don't see how having lots of story is a bad thing, or what was bad about it in the first place.

Half of the story takes place in visual novel format, with the other half simply using just the character model(s) and dialogue. Every character gets a good amount of depth and background; even minor characters have a few scenes directly from their POV to get a better sense of their feelings and motivations. The story itself is very good; much deeper and more sophisticated than you might expect. You'll likely wind up loving and sympathizing with every character.

The gameplay can absolutely get repetitive, but even then it's by no means a cakewalk. Enemies hit hard, fast, and repeatedly. In later levels and especially in certain play modes, you'll have to play very conservatively if you want to survive. The basic gameplay is pretty much the same for all characters, but each character has their own unique style. Like most characters use blades; some use longer blades offering more range, some use purely hand-to-hand combat, and some even use guns as primary weapons. When you've built up your gauge, you can do a Shinobi Transformation, which boosts your stats, refills your health (which is very handy later on), and replaces that gauge with a Secret Technique gauge. It isn't too hard to fill up, and each character has several different special moves.

In any case, calling it something like "otaku care package" is generalizing the crap out of it. And if we're judging DLC by its backstory, then Mewtwo is the greatest DLC in the history of video games.

I've been wanting Senran Kagura since I picked up a 3DS but, in all honesty, $20 still seems a bit high for a digital-only title. If it was a physical game, I'd buy it instantly. When, or if, it ever drops to $15 I'll go for it.

See I thought the story wasn't all that deep or sophisticated. There was a lot of heart at points and it's certainly better than you expect but after a while it just felt like it was just iterating through just every single bit of tragedy they could throw in the back stories of the characters. It felt like it was playing more for emotional manipulation than anything satisfying.

And, no, I'm not judging Murasame a joke because of his story. He's a joke because he's literally a joke character. He's supposed to be an incompetent ninja who gets tripped in his flail more than anything else.

I'll freely admit I didn't get very far beyond the third or fourth chapter because it was so terribly boring.

And you clearly misunderstand what I meant by otaku care package.

Well I mean, one doesn't become a shinobi on a whim. That kind of character is forged through great difficulty in life (or if it was already decided for them, they likely grew up with a very rigorous upbringing). Each character's backstory brought them to where they are, and I think it works.

Murasame isn't really pathetic; he just clearly didn't have what it takes to be in the big league.

what is the deal with Ace attorney trilogy and the one for the 3ds? 29 bucks? damn it. Do they go on sale often?? I don't want to pay that much for a digital version of the game, and it's been out for almost 2 years

Guardian Heroes is now available through the store's search feature.

Pokemon Rumble World got a new update  that adds a new area, items and more. They say it also gives you 100 diamonds and a new balloon, though it the announcement also says that you need a code to get the diamonds. The area is for Rank 40 people and the code (48213190) is for people that are at least Rank 4.

Wait, they JUST announced it? They rolled out the update at least a week or two ago.

Anyway, the new area is a special balloon that takes you to different areas where you can capture Pokémon you haven't gotten yet. The area changes every time you go through a portal and it takes 20 hours to refill.

They don't date the news posts in the eShop, but it was made sometime between last Thursday and today. Since nobody posted it here, I decided to share it since I knew a few people here had played it.

Anybody that bought Woah Dave! on 3DS can grab the new Wii U version for free, as it supports Cross Buy.

You can import a Japanese copy from Play-Asia for $20 if you want a physical copy. All 3 games are entirely in English and the current region locking situation is easily circumventable due to recent breakthroughs in the hacking community.

And I hope that everyone here buys 3D Gunstar Heroes, $6 is a steal considering that the amount of effort they put into the game would suggest that the game's price should increase three-fold.

To be honest, I have not seen him in SK2 but I think he is literally a joke character in gameplay in that game from hearsay.

That's actually part of the story I don't like. I can't take being a shinobi as a serious thing if we have Asuka trying to befriend someone she will have to kill. As if nobody has the heart to sit down and explain to her, or to any of these girls, that killing things is part of their job. It's not that it's charmingly unlikely, like Batgirl being a cheerful dark knight. It's that it flatly runs counter to the stakes they are trying to establish. They are trying to have cute girls doing cute things but that doesn't work unless you have taped foam to the edges of the universe so the girls won't hurt themselves.

This idiotic mix comes to a head in Shinovi Versus when the good girls story is that exterminating evil is wrong and stupid and they shouldn't do that... and then the evil girls story is literally killing every other playable girl, good and bad, one by one, up and down each class roster, smarting off one-liners as they die. If I was not so certain that was a meta-troll story two levels too troll-deep even for me, I would be offended by such a ridiculous world view.

But back to your point, it was too much for me. Superheroes don't have the level of overwrought tragedies the girls do. Homura's story kinda broke it for me. In ANY other story she would be the outcast prodigy heroine. But, no, writers, I see your fingers weighing down the scale towards tragedy. You broke the illusion there. Sorry.

Is the framerate passable with the 3D effect turned off?
No. And don't let the nitwits on the internets try to convince you a better SD card will fix it.

The ACTUAL cart version of the game looks beautiful. Just hit yuutuub and see how the Jap version runs.

The framerate problems, I am convinced, are solely because we took what was essentially a 3DS launch title that was not made for DDL and released it DDL and for some reason or another it runs like crap. It's certainly playable, I'm not picky, but it is bad enough that it impacts the experience.

Guardian Heroes is now available through the store's search feature.
Pick your words more carefully. If I were less of a skeptic, I would be all over a portable port of Guardian Heroes to go along with our actual 3D Gunstar Heroes.

Though, to be honest, I really think I would argue these days that Streets of Fury EX is a better product than Guardian Heroes, and that is extremely high praise seeing as nobody* has hit that niche since Code of Princess and that was just awful.

*(I can't say for certain NOBODY. If we loosen the definition, Muramasa probably counts, but that was weak... there are likely others.)

You missed two Capcom sales where those went cheap. Hopefully there will be another. As many people deserve AA and Mercs 3DS cheap as deserve EO4.

nice that  extra  free 100  diamonds pushes me to 185  just need to get 15 more to get the   level 50 ballon. only 2 other ballons. i doubt i put more cash into the game (think i put around  7.50 into it)  its been months since i played it...

Ugh; quoting is hard on mobile.

Who says you can't get along with an enemy? I mean on one hand, common sense says otherwise. But who is to say the right way to be in a situation like that? Anyway, these are still professionals who prove by the end that they're able to put their feelings aside to complete their mission. (I have only played Burst so I can't speak for any other game).

Superheroes don't have the level of overwrought tragedies the girls do.

Superheroes don't have tough lives and tragic backstories?

Supposedly there's gonna be a Capcom sale on the 24th. Hoping for a good deal on MH4, would love to have that digitally since it's one of my most played games.  Ace Attorney games may be on sale again.

Take up to 66 percent off Capcom games like Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and many more from 9 a.m. PT on Aug. 24 to 8:59 a.m. PT on Aug. 31.

big difference. Kill La Kill was spoofing the TA in most anime... Senran Kagura is one of the things it spoofs =P I actually own but havent played the Senran Kagura games because i made the mistake of watching the anime first and it was friggin god awful.

Well thank you for that. I was interested in the second one, but wanted to play the first one. But it seems like I can definitely wait on this series for forever.

To be fair, while I love the game and the level of fanservice within, I don't plan to watch the anime. I've heard it's unnecessarily gratuitous even by anime standards, which I don't care for.

And here I am debating that LBX Battlers.  I have no idea what it is but I wanna make a mech and beat the tar outta other mechs.

I have no idea the premise of the kiddie anime it's based on.

Anyone have an opinion?  Metacritic is it's unusual unhelpful self.  Downing a game for lack of online multiplayer when it isn't designed for that seems unfair.

love to know as well could get one for 15 bucks using my 25 gamestop coupon

Aaaaand I can't post YouTube videos for some reason.

Anyway, here's GameXplain's review of the title: https://youtube.com/watch?v=sLb00ei5xoM

Thanks!  That YouTube vid would be VERY recommended.  It was L5 so I took a jump on it even though I didn't know about it.

I've been playing ~1-1.5 hrs and it's pretty quaint so far.  The customization is fun and I can't wait to see how far it goes.  I also wish that they wouldn't have put us in control of a normal character.  I kinda wish that they would have you to be your OWN character.

So far, my best description of the game is Pokemon arena.  You run around talking to orange dots to battle them.  You go into a battle screen.  That drops you in an arena (there are different kinds) with different areas (water, buildings, mountains, etc).  You then go into "robot" fighting mode.  Y to attack, B to jump, A dash, X brings up item menu.   Holding Y is super charge, LB is shield, RB pulls up the super menu.  Up arrow changes weapon.

Cameras here are a bit lacking but I'm still learning.

Then you run around and kill the robot.  Sometimes it's first fall, others it's knock them down 3 times, a couple I've done so far have been 2 on me or 2 on 2.

if the game was 30 i would buy it in a min but have enough games at the time Odyssy. the dungon game that just came out on the Vita and really need to get back into that ballon pokemon thingie

Make sure you're DLing your free DLC from ETO2U.

I got it for 30 with my GCU but (shrug).  The people are talking on other sites that it's a 30-40 hr main game.  That's not too shabby.

I'm on level 13-14 on ETO2.... I just needed a bit of a break.  This is a nice hack/slash kinda feel to it and the customization so far is pretty fun.  Going from a B speed to a C speed.. I felt noticibly slower.  I also picked up a couple of guns and a sword and the gameplay is different for each.  Jury's out but it's passing my time which is all I care about.\

There's also downloadable forms for this.  I haven't seen any DLC shop, more like a connect to get new cards and stuff.  We'll see.  Haven't unlocked much yet.

Picross 3D 2 has been announced for 3DS, though it's only for Japan at the moment. More Picross goodness for the 3DS.

I just got my physical copy in. Going to be paying about $7 for shipping but all the games are in english.

Are there any games besides Xenoblade that takes advantage of the new 3ds

The new 3DS is good for MH4.  It also scans the Amiibo's for SSB.  I believe the next one out that really has some use for it is the Happy Home Designer in Sept...

Here are some codes for weapons if you do purchase LBX:

Honestly, 0's and O's are different and I's, L's, all look the same.  If one fails, try the other.  These all worked in my screen though.  I can't remember them all.
