i wait and hope Conception II cart verison falls to 10 black friday.. Already own it on the vita though never played it
You know the only 2 places that stock that are GS (likely gutted) & Amazon right? Have any of the other physical Atlus releases ever dropped below $20?

I've seen Overclocked and P4G (though that's Vita, obviously) physical for under $20, and I got the launch edition of Break Record for ~$18 from Jet, though that was due to that new member discount code thing from whatever that third party site was.

$10 seems unlikely, though. I could sort of see Conception dumped into a bargain bin because it is so bad, but I doubt it'll get very much under $15, and it doesn't seem like a likely Black Friday target since it's so niche.

That's my thought as well. More likely to see a PQ/P4 DAN retail sale vs. Conception 2.

Dammit haven't even started Overclocked and now Soul Hackers is 10 bucks... whatever I'm in.

Persona knockoff; borders on being too quirky/pervy w/o crossing it; dungeons get EXTREMELY boring 1/2 way through b/c they all look the same w/palette swaps.
Pass. I like my pervy games to cross the line enthusiastically and never look back.

I'm assuming by the end of the New 3DS life cycle that I'll have 12 or so retail-sized games (Atlus games, Pokemon Y, Link Between Worlds, etc) and then a dozen or so smaller titles like Sakura Samurai. Would you guys recommend a 32GB micro or a 64 for that many games?

Is the Soul Hackers plot charming, dark, grim, edgy, heroic, cool, badass? Gimme SOMETHING to work with.
I remember you helped me with a recommendation for Phoenix Wright's DLC, so I will try to help here with this question. Did you ever play Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne or Shin Megami Tensei IV? As far as the overall tone of the game and story, it feels much more in line with classic Shin Megami Tensei rather than say, the Persona series. There is also a cyberpunk element to it as well, because the demons are summoned by a personal CPU (it looked like the Nintendo Power Glove to me) and major elements of the story revolve around exploring virtual environments or memories of the deceased (the title "Soul Hackers" is actually quite appropriate).

The actual gameplay reminded me a lot of the core Shin Megami Tensei games since there is a huge emphasis on demon negotiations, fusions, and using skills of the right element to hit elemental weaknesses. The exploration is done in 1st person, so kind of like the Etrian Odyssey games or Shin Megami Tensei: Persona for comparison. It has been a while since I played it, but I think that the map auto-filled as you explored instead of requiring you to make it yourself.

For $9.99, I think it's a great deal. Go watch a YouTube video of the gameplay, maybe a trailer, but if you like other RPG's by Atlus, you should enjoy this one. Just remember to rein your expectations a little since this game originally came out on the Sega Saturn as compared to Shin Megami Tensei IV, which was designed for the 3DS in mind.

I'd say 32GBs are enough. Most retail games are under 1GB, with only a handful of games over 2GB.

Here's a list if you want to check the file sizes yourself; http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=730057

(1GB equals roughly 8000 blocks)

Game sizes are pretty small, but getting the back off can be tricky if you rush it. If it's only a couple bucks difference, grab the 64gb and never worry about it.

On the subject of Soul Hackers for those people that have gotten it, while playing the MC should be built as an Physical fighter and Nemissa should be built like a mage. I know it's weird to tell to be telling people how to build a character, but trust me it will save you some frustration as you play through the game.

Played the Stella Glow demo, and I can't wait for the full game. I tried getting into Luminious Arc, but struggled something about this game just feels right.

I played the Stella Glow demo last night and I can't wait for the full game either.

The only other SMT I've played is Persona so I don't have much reference. I thought RPGs were as an entire genre garbage until I played EO4 recently so I am catching up.

I will give it a shot. Even if I don't like it some cyberpunk demon murder mystery stuff sounds like it would be cute.

And I'm aware of all the edges to gameplay. I just don't see people succinctly describing the style of the story. I always see the kids meme-spamming SMT as hurr chaos law is awful we love lucifer matador is an ass etc etc and I don't have a good feel for the series because everything seems to be different.

EDIT: And that AA5 DLC was badass wasn't it?

Or you can weaksauce like me and turn on all the hacks. It allowed me to overlook a lot of the dated parts of that game and enjoy the sheer 90s-ness of it all. It's an acquired taste but I really liked it.

Ahh. Yeah, one of the primary choices in most of the SMT games is that of alignment. This actually has a huge impact in most of the SMT games because certain demons / angels / mythological entities are locked to players of the Law / Neutral / Chaos alignments. It also affects the story and ending. Shin Megami Tensei: Soul Hackers has some of the alignment things, but mostly I think that it's a case of some monsters are limited to certain party compositions. I don't remember the storyline being impacted (Law, Neutral, and Chaos choices affect the stories of SMT III: Nocturne and SMT IV respectively).

I had once heard Shin Megami Tensei described as "post-apocalyptic Pokemon," and with the series focus on collecting, leveling, and fusing monsters, it is fairly apt. Your stream-of-consciousness sentence was like an amalgam of the comments section for any YouTube video showing SMT. For the record, Matador is an ass... He is generally regarded as the brick wall where the training wheels come off in SMT III: Nocturne, and he's a difficult boss fight for the unprepared.

I still need to play the AA5 DLC, but I did buy it. I am sure it is badass though. It has a whale in it. That has more meaning than the original Nintendo Seal of Quality that used to come on NES game boxes.

Heck, even comparing to other SMTs is iffy because Soul Hackers is a spinoff of a spinoff (Devil Summoner) of SMT. As for the game itself, I'd say its tone reminds me of Serial Experiments Lain or reading old issues of Wired, that 90s "computers and the internet can do anything and everything" mindset.

Sounds like a game I could at least get $10 of enjoyment out of. I played about half of Nocturne before giving up back in my PS2 days, but I enjoyed the half I got through. Matador is the worst, I absolutely hated him when I was younger.

No new releases. It seems that there's a public demo for The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes where they're opening up the online servers for a couple of hours of the weekend (3-5 PM PT/6-8 PM ET from 10/30 to 11/1).

Code of Princess will be on sale for $9.99 starting on 11/2 until 11/16.

Don't do that.
Not much else worth getting lately. All the same games going on sale, which I either already brought or have physically. Not too many games I don't have and have interest in on the E-Shop at the point.

Its either Yokai Watch or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Seeing as the release list seems pretty dead up until January.

So? Then either wait and hope for a holiday Nintendo sale or buy some of the digital exclusives. Don't buy something that's bound to have some crazy sale at BBY in three months.

I believe RER is the largest 3DS game.
I thought the deals have been good lately, EOIV was the first game I got since theSega 3D sale, plus Overclocked and these RE games are legit.

Exactly. Don't pay attention to the snobs complaining about having every game for 3DS. Boo-hoo.

Xenoblade is the largest 3ds game.

I loved Revelations on 3DS. This was actually the game that got me to purchase the system. I love the Mercs mode in RE4 & 5. May consider this for $5.
You are wrong for having loved it and are awful.

Mercs 3DS has some funky balancing tweaks from what both 4 and 5 did and it has a variety of missions within the mix of RE4 and 5 levels. The mechanics are largely RE5 though, but I think Doc Salvador and the blind claw dudes are back and enemy sets from both 4 and 5 are mixed in. You lose a lot from not having RE5's insanely sexy physics engines but for a different flavor of score chasing on the go it's a fine little game. At $30 it's a ripoff but even at $20 it's worth considering partly because, at least in RE5 and RE6, Mercenaries just destroys the main campaigns for actual value.

Bit on EO4 at $10 after trying the demo. I couldn't find a physical copy under $20.

Of the two 3DS RE games, I enjoyed Mercs more. It's simply fun. They're both worth a pickup at $5.

Quite tempted to pick up Persona Q and MH4, but I know I won't have time to play them until next year so I it might be better to wait for an even better deal. It's just so rare for a game I'm interested in to go on sale on the eshop that I feel I need to jump on it.

Q is probably going to be on sale all the time like the other Atlus stuff. MonHun will be again since 3 is one of the few major games to have repeat sales but it's probably only going to be every few months.

Finally played the demo to Yokai Watch and came away quite impressed.  Looks like the full game could be really fun.  The Yokai reminded me a lot of the spirits from Spirited Away, and that's a very good thing (that movie is amazing).

It will be hilarious to hear how parents pronounce "Yokai Watch" this holiday season.

It's hilarious how Nintendo's taken great pains to say that Yokai are not ghosts or monsters (even if THEY ARE), so they don't offend certain people like 25 years ago.

I don't think it will be an issue. "Yokai" is easy enough to pronounce - "yo" is already a word and "kai" is pronounced phonetically. The whole "Pokeman" thing was just because of Super/Bat/Spider-man.

I almost feel like parents pronounce these things wrong on purpose to distance themselves though.
