You were supposed to be emailed a coupon if you did an online trade or receive one in-store if you did the transaction in-store.

Promotion page says it started July 14th. Here's a thread created the 17th, but I can't find the official one.

What, if I don't go drop $400 on a PS4 with no games I want announced, I'm not a "true gamer?" Seriously, other than MLB and maybe The Order, Sony hasn't released a game that interested me in probably close to a decade, when I thought that Resistance might be decent. How is not getting a PS4 an indication that someone isn't a "true gamer," and what the heck IS a "true gamer?"

Well , when you play an FPS , you need to see your enemy and react fast enough.

You don't need a $2000+ display to accomplish that.

True gamers enjoy games as they were mean to be played.
You can buy a $50 used CRT that performs better than a lot of LCD displays today.

Do you remember when CRTs were extremely popular?

They have some benefits for gamers today such as having almost no input lag.
Believe it or not , gamers actually care about input lag if they know what it is.

With it being a new IP they want to sell tons of, and pairing it with a much-requested white XBONE, wouldn't they want this to be a constant seller for the holidays, rather than make it super limited and totally sold out before November even comes?

Seems like it would not help the new IP if the console design people would have jumped in for is attached in a bundle that sold out. Running out of those seems like it would be lost sales on XBONE and for SSO exposure.

I don't think it'll sell out. I think the release supply might be low is because they don't want to ship too much out until the price cut promotion starts.

I saw a post on GAF mentioning how odd it was that once the bundle sold out at Amazon it immediately went out of stock at Best Buy and the Microsoft Store.

Honestly I expect it to be available for the holiday's and I'd be surprised if it wasn't. Otherwise they'll need to do a new white bundle since I'm sure there is interest in that color console.

Personally, I think it will be restocked. Really, the only retailers that are out of stock right now are Amazon and Microsoft Store online. BB has it in stock in most stores and online and Gamestop has it online and in most stores. Walmart has it online and in some stores and Microsoft has it available in stores. I don't think Target carried it online or in stores at all. That's actually pretty good availability compared to most LE console bundles.

"[M]eant to be played," is a dumb term. I mean, how is Minecraft "meant to be played?" I don't recall the developer interview or the case cover that mentioned "input lag greater than 5ms violates ToU." I don't recall firing up CoD and seeing "react fast or return this game, filthy casual." I didn't see "1080p display required," upon playing The Evil Within.

I don't know if a white bundle is guaranteed to be available forever, but I suspect that there will be another round of SSO bundles, just without the Day One content. But what do I know? I'm not a game developer, in industry expert, or even all that well read of a gamer anymore.

It would be nice to have a bundled game choice besides Assassin Creed or Call of Duty. Again, however, what do I know; most everyone goes Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs over both those series.

What's my best route to get all of that? Seems like I should just wait until Nov. 2... But it might sell out. But price match sounds like hell for buying today with the coupon intact

Would you enjoy the graphics of any modern game ( let's say Halo 4) on a 640 x 480 display? No , first of all the aspect ratio is different and you would need to scale the resolution even lower. Second , at low resolutions you lose a lot of detail that adds to the experience.

Would you enjoy a shooter on a display with 200 ms of lag? No , because you will be dying all the time if you are up against people with CRTs or other displays with a low amount of input. The controls will have a noticeable delay so you wouldn't have a good experience even playing single player against the AI.

BTW input lag is not the same thing as the marketed "response time."

Some people think that they are bad at games or that the game isn't responsive enough but a high amount of input lag can make you feel that way.

Do you remember when the Xbox 360 / PS3 came out and a lot of people were using SDTVs? Since the games were rendered at a higher resolutions , some details such as text were hard to read or see when they were scaled down to the TV's resolution.

I can go on and on but this is getting way off topic.

I called my GameStop and they said they will hold my SO bundle until Sunday when they can credit me the fifty dollars. I just have to hope none of the other workers that are unaware there see it as "unclaimed" come Friday or Saturday and release it for sale.

I have Discover as well..how will you get 10 percent cash back? I was told by Discover that its only 5 percent for best buy and other stores..please post a link, getting it with 10 percent cash back would be great

 
Wow this devolved into a juvenile pissing match. Do people actually care if others think of them as a "true gamer"? I really doubt most people here care although aparently it's a status symbol to some and we've got the man who will judge if you are a true gamer or a poser right here in this thread.
 
Well the game stop employee here at my store doesn't know shit. Just keeps saying "I don't know". I asked if I held onto the SSO bundle and returned the 2nd. I don't know. Will you guys have them priced that on the 2nd. I don't know. Gamestop employees have so little knowledge that it's ridiculous. So I'm almost ready to just return this crap and try waiting to get one off amazon.

Make sure you're signed up for the 5% quarterly cashback, which is for online shopping this quarter. Go through the ShopDiscover portal on the Discover website and select Best Buy out of the vendor list. You will get an additional 5% through ShopDiscover, which stacks with your quarterly percentage.

 
I opened my SSO bundle that came today and was really disappointed to find out it is very off-white, like the PS4.  Never saw an unboxing but the pictures all made it look like the white 360 Slims.  I think I would rather have a black one now, but since I got in on the $100 coupon glitch and with a $50 refund today, it was a heck of a deal for a new box.  Who knows, maybe it will grow on me but it sure doesn't look great next to my glossy white 360!

See, I'd fully expect that from Gamestop. It's my absolute last resort and I'd even pay more somewhere else than shop there.

I'm thinking of waiting for the Assassins Creed bundle and pulling the trigger.  You would basically get that bundle for 230, plus the unity code would be worth probably 45 or so.  So looking at upgrading a 360 to X1 for 190-ish.  That's pretty good

Honestly AC Unity Bundle is the holiday bundle for MS this holidays. Remember 360 every holidays? It always had 2 games and AC unity bundle does with unity and black flag.

So thats probably why sunset overdrive is limited.

I fully expect them to have quite a few COD: AW bundles though because of how popular the game is. Which is obvious because it was outselling sunset bundle on amazon and sunset overdrive bundle sold out first.

Thanks. Yeah I think I signed up for the coupon way later than that. It wasn't until I saw a thread that was posted by I think htz. Before posting about it here I tried searching for the thread and couldn't find it. I tried searching my inbox for the coupon and nothing comes up so the only way I know of to track it down is to find when that thread was posted and I can just search for the email by date during that specific date range. Wasn't sure if iduncurr had did the same thing as me.

The term "gamer" is already a weird term. It's like the term "movie watcher".

What I'm trying to say is that too many gamers fall prey to marketing instead of enjoying games as a form of entertainment. When you watch a movie , don't you like to see what's going on? And don't you enjoy the special effects?

Did anyone happen to pre-order their SSO bundle through the MS store? Pre-orders were suppose to come with a SSO controller stand, and mine didn't. I called them about it, and they'll be getting back to me tomorrow. Just curious if anyone's had the same issue.
 
Back on topic: I've noticed that only one person got an adjustment for the SSO bundle from BBY so far.

Did any one else get an adjustment or are the rest of you waiting until the 2nd?

Oh Ok so I go to shopdiscover.com log in, go to best buy click that and I will get 5 percent + 5 percent? Thanks for the info..when I did the online chat yesterday with discover the lady said I would only get 5 percent that is why I was confused

It stacks. You can go directly to Bestbuy.com and purchase with your Discover to get your 5% quarterly bonus. But if you go through ShopDiscover, you'll get the other 5% for shopping through their portal.

Great that is what I will do, go through shopdiscover..10 percent cash back on a 300+ dollar console(I will be using the online code for the 10 percent movers coupon) that plus 10 bucks from rewards membership that I will get when I buy the iPad Air 2 on Friday I can use that savings to get the Kinect which I will probably have to buy somewhere else..I have a 75 dollar gift card to use at amazon but unfortunately they dont have the sunset overdrive bundle available. I wonder, do you think on Black Friday the deals will be any better(Maybe including a game or something) or is this the best we are going to get

They may sweeten it with 3 months of Live, or a $25 gift card, or maybe one of the main launch titles thrown in for free. Hard to say. Just ask yourself if you want to play Sunset Overdrive for the next month knowing you got a good deal, or gamble that BF may be a little better.

 
It's YMMV but I had a sunset overdrive bundle set aside for me at my gamestop. I called them today to tell them they could sell it and I would take my chances finding one on Sunday, he told me to come in and get it tonight and come back with the receipt and he would return and resell it to me for $50 less. I feel spoiled with the service I get from that GameStop

Yeah that's true..might not be worth waiting if you only get a launch game or 3 months of XBOX Live..at least with Best Buy the sunset overdrive bundle is available at all locations..so I could order it online and pick it up in store or just have it delivered to my house..normally when do black friday ads get released, my online movers coupon code doesnt expire til 11/15

X1 requires every game to be installed to the HDD, right? Meaning, lots of uninstalling/re-installing down the road for space? Does the SO bundle have a 500 GB or 1 TB HDD? Is it worth the extra $100 for a 1 TB HDD in the CoD bundle? Are the two AC games worth it for that bundle? (I own Black Flag for PS3, but haven't played it yet)

The SO bundle has the standard 500GB hard drive. The COD bundle is the only one with the larger drive. Take a look at this article, it's one of the most comprehensive I've seen regarding Xbox One HDD upgrades. I already had a USB 3.0 2TB drive that I wasn't using so my Xbox One is currently sporting 2.5TB of space. The COD bundle isn't worth it for a $100 extra, in my opinion.

I lasted several months with a ton of games installed back at launch before I bought an external drive. It really depends on how many games you plan to keep on the system at once and what you could live without. Just remember the system is actually around 400GB's out of the box since Hard drives never have the exact advertised space and there's space reserved for the OS.

Sunset Overdrive bundle has a 500GB Hard drive.

Personally I'm not looking forward to Assassin's Creed Unity. It looks pretty bland and too much like the other games in the series. Black Flags was a blast, but that game is dirt cheap now.

If you like the how the system looks I'd recommend going for the 1TB Call of Duty Bundle. Having the extra space on an internal drive just sounds really convenient over buying an external drive, and you'd probably be able to just use that without having to buy an external option down the road.

No problem. As Kazeno stated above, having the space internally may be better for you, depends on your preference. With either bundle, you're getting a digital new release. You'll see plenty of people selling COD digital codes and plenty selling AC Unity digital codes. So effectively you're spending a $100 for the paintjob and the extra 500GB of space. You can get an external USB 3.0 drive for well under a $100 that will be faster than the internal drive, have more space, and with the added bonus of portability. I felt like the COD bundle was a good deal when it was marked down to $449 a few days ago. But with the across the board price drop, we're back to a $100 difference. Just depends on what you want, ultimately.

Different retailers have different polices and it would be nice to organize it.

Officially everywhere should have the right price on the 2th but adjustments are already being made.

What external hard drive do you have? I was planning on maybe purchasing a 4TB drive would make the most sense but not sure which one to get that is compatible with the xbox one

 
Forget about the size of the hard drive or the color of the system. The Sunset Overdrive Xbox One bundle is the only bundle that has a game that I want, and it's selling out because of the color of the system that it's with. They should have made a black bundle and a white bundle if the white bundle was to be in short supply. Because I tell you now, I am not settling for Assassin's Creed Unity, and I am definitely not settling for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, especially at that price.

Sell the Unity code, that's what I did with the Madden bundle a few weeks back. Use the money to buy Sunset Overdrive if you can't find the SO bundle near you.
