THE GIST:
87 TRU's are closing
Current sale at (will drop to bigger discounts):

10-30% off all consoles
20-50% off all games
20-50% off all guides
40-50% off all accessories

*All discount amounts YMMV. Check the list below for a possible update on where each store is at.
*All items bought cannot be returned or exchanged anywhere (the barcodes will be crossed out with a marker).
*Further discounts should happen every 1, 2 weeks. It seemed at first it would be a YMMV on when, but it seems all stores are dropping prices at the same time.
*Stores will probably close sometime around Feb. 27th, give or take a couple weeks. Really just depends on how much merch is still moving when that time comes.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the store/sale list!

1/7 3AM EDIT: I am going to my TRU tomorrow to shop, as I bet many of the rest of you will too. Post what deals and stores you find and hopefully we can compile something worthwhile here. ^_^

1/7 1PM EDIT: Trying to compile what stores we have confirmed are closing; also adding what seems to be the current sale. Since each store is bought by local liqudators, your discounts may be different and drop slower/faster, so YMMV on the discounts, for better or for worse.

1/8 11PM EDIT: Looks like we are looking at about two weeks for the next drop, which should be to 20% - 40%. The time of the drop and the amount is up to each liqudator, so YMMV when it comes to it. But two weeks should be about right for all the stores. Store list updated, along with return policy. Forgot to ask about exchanges though, doh. >_<

1/11 2:30PM EDIT: Changed closed store total from 72 to 87, 12 of which are being turned into Babys R Us. Closing store list also updated.

1/13 3:30AM EDIT: Updated the closed store list. Added a note below about "fixture" sale information (which probably varies per store on how they go about selling the stuff off).

1/13 11:45PM EDIT: Updated the closed store list. Added news on possible console discounts.

1/16 3PM EDIT: Looks like Reality's Fringe was right on a nation-wide clearance increase, so thanks to him for the head's up!

1/16 11PM EDIT: Complete closing store list added!

2/9 7:30PM EDIT: Updated %s

I walked into work today for my paycheck and to price adjust some games, and one of the managers took me aside, gave me some paperwork and told me our TRU (Bellingham, WA) along with 72 others are being closed, effective tomorrow. Well, at least my store tomorrow, but I assume everyone else is in the same boat. The earliest they will actually close their doors is Feburary 27th, so there will be plenty of time to take advantage of the sale.

According to the manager, everything will be clearanced for the closing sale starting tomorrow, and only a few things will not be part of that, being video game hardware. I asked about games and she said she didn't know. I don't know exactly what the clearance is going to start at, but I would say 30% (what the GT sale usually starts at) would be a good guess.

If you bought anything from a closing TRU before today and you want to return, exchange, price adjust, whatever, you can still do so. But: everything bought from here on out CANNOT be returned. If they are like my store, they take a big black marker and cross out the UPC. They do this so you cannot return it to another TRU. I didn't get the whole speech, so exchanges may be okay, but no more returns, no more price adjustments.

Also: all TRU coupons, sales, price drops, whatever are no longer valid at the closing stores, since they are not really TRUs anymore.

If not already, you should be seeing soon some sort of poster, fill-out form, whatever in your TRU about selling the fixtures, etc. This includes video game display posters, standees, the playable game set-ups, etc. At my store, it was a cardboard kisok thing with a form you filled out with your contact info and what you want, and they'll contact you with a price. Don't know what things will go for, but you may or may not be able to score some cool stuff.

I wish I could get Gunstar for $3! :( Can't buy online and the closest closing TRU would be about a 2 hour drive, not worth it if I'm going to put that $17 in the gas tank.

got a bunch of games from the toys r us closing near me, at 50% off i got 3 castlevania dawn of sorrow for the DS at 17 each, 2 Advance Wars Dual Strikes at 17 each, 3 metroid prime 2 echoes guides for 4.50 each, gunstar super heroes for for 6, fire emblem sacred stones for 6, For Gamecube I got Spartan Total Warrior and NBA STREET V3 for 10 each at 80% off. Also got 6 copies of f-zero gp legends for gba at 5 dollars each. My toys r us closed on sunday.

wow they still had nba street when they hit 80% off? My tru doesn't even carry nba street lol

the Chicago location (89th & LaFayette) is closed. theres a paper in front of the entrance saying it.
Yeah, I picked up Baten Kaitos and Gunstar on Sunday when it was 80% off. Too bad I worked Monday or I would have gone on Monday like Orochi. But $6 a piece is not bad at all. I can confirm that both the Cambridge, MA and Dorchester, MA locations are closed. Medford, MA still has I believe 7 days left. I drove by on Sunday and their sign said 9 days left and they are at 50-70% off. I'm going to try to pick up Trace Memory and whatever is available and of interest in the final days.
Oh.

My.

God.

Why couldn't I get paid last week?!
Anyone been up to the signal hill tru recently? Any cube stuff left?
Unless you're looking for a new copy of Dora the Explorer, Baten Kaitos (with soundtrack), or Winnie the Pooh's Rumbly Tumbly Adventure then no.

alright winnie the pooh! lol discount still at 40%?

Went by singnal hill today everything is 70 to 90% off. Not much left at all. Games are all but shot. A few DS Feel the magic, GBA Pinball Tycoon is about it. It's hard to believe that all of the dance pads are gone. There was about 5 to 10 total. The clerk said that a guy from a game store came in and bought most of it out. I was going to get the PS2 HDD but they were gone. Sunday is the last day at Signal Hill.

ah that sucks was hoping to pick up a cheap copy of donkey konga

went by my local (closing) tru today. i was expecting the game selection to be shit, but they actually had a handfull of decent titles left. i picked up burnout legends (psp) for $29.99 after discount (this beats the sears deal since there's no shipping charge). i'll probably go back and snag a couple of others before they close at the end of the month.

Thanks now i wont have to waste my time dealing with that store heheh, i will probably go back when it hits 50% just to see if there is anything left non-video game wise that i might want.

Hey ya'll, just got a gameboy micro from Toys R' Us for $49.99. That's half off. I know the DS is out and everything, but it's a good price for a great system to play the old mario games and stuff(which were also 50% off). Check your Toys R Us if you have one closing near you. Awesome deals. Also got a CD/Clock Radio for $7.

i picked up the game cube kiosk that my toys r us had got it for free

gametz028.jpg

LOL Would've been better Boyboy if you got a Gamecube WITH the kiosk. I asked at the one TRU I went to that was going outta biz and they said the display consoles had to be shipped back or something else. But, they didn't say anything about the kiosks. LMAO I should've asked.

This reminds me of the Sam Goody about 60 miles from me, who told me the possible price on the display model systems at their store closing. They quoted me a price of 'no more than 100' for the PS2 display model. I almost dropped to the floor laughing.

Anyway, I don't think the TRU in Springfield, PA is open anymore or I'd stop this Monday on my way to AC. But, I AM stopping at quite a few stores on the way to AC. Gotta get my fix of penny guides and maybe cheapy games.

the only reason i got it for free was becaue i was worked there and they were going to throw it away cuz the nintendo people didnt want to pick it up. so i got it

The niagara falls store actually LOWERED the percentage on game accessories from 70% to 40%, what a ripoff store, not to mention we overheard other people talking about how they raised prices on a lot of items before the % went up.

They have like no games left, the only gamecube game they had was robots and they had NO GBA OR DS games left at all.
i picked up the game cube kiosk that my toys r us had got it for free

Damn...that means I'm not the only person to have one anymore...except that mine still has the TV and GC system. :)
Update on the CA TRUs.
2751 Cherry Ave. (Signal Hill) is now closed. :(
It's been closed for a few weeks now. I remember buying games (Donkey Kong Country 1. and 2 for SNES) from them years ago... at full MSRP

The TRU in Sherman, TX is nearly cleaned out. The only thing worth mentioning is they have Tony Hawk's American Sk8land (DS) for just $18. I'm wondering if it's worth it or not though, so I haven't bought it. Is there any reason for me NOT to buy this? Or should I grab it while it's available?

They also have one more GBA Micro left, but there is no sign that says if it's marked to $50 or not. I know it's just the regular Micro, but considering I'm selling my broken DS to Snake, and I only have a regular GBA, $50 wouldn't be bad at all to update to a better system. I'll head back over there today and ask if it's marked down or if it's still $100.

Bridgeton, MO store is now 50% - 70% off. Videogames are out of the R-Zone and are now on the movie wall mostly X-Box, DS, PSP left no gamecube except star wars rebel strike which the regular price on is 9.98. Still like 10 copies of frontline assault and psychonauts for xbox. Talked to employee and asked when are they closing she said she thinks by the end of the month.

I went back to the TRU in Sherman, TX today and now everything is 50%-70% off. I picked up Tony Hawk's American Sk8land and Meteos for $15 a piece.

I feel like crap though, because I went in to get the GBA Micro and one employee said they sold it maybe an hour before I got there. He confirmed that it was indeed $50.

i didnt know where to post this but is for toys r us. it might have been a closing store to go out in a bang

http://www.youtube.com/v/2jSTA6MYxA8">

Bridgeton, MO store now 60-80% off lots of clothes left some pokemon stuff left which 90% off, actually there are some video game left nanostray for ds and psychonauts for xbox still have like 8-9 copies left. I was told by an employee that they are closing April 1.

Niagara falls store has a bunch of crap left, nothing really good, everything is still high priced, however the percent is at like 60-70% as well, store is probably closing april first like the other one mentioned.

Tons of GBA battlebots and some other crap game, i will probably pick these up if they are left when it gets to 70% off just for games to have for the collection. One copy of nanostray left, doubt that lasted for long, there were a couple gameboy micro's left though i think so if anyone wants one this store is the place to check. Also there were still a boatload of grand turismo 4 in the locked gamecase, + some other games.

There were some pokemon destiny deoxys dvds for like 10$ each, thats pretty cheap for the movie i think.

Have bought different stuffs from different stores near me, very satisfied.
Thanks for OP posting the deal.

But anyway, finally scored a 3D ps2 speaker yesterday, not TG, but price labeled as 4.99
Tried it last night, and returned this morning.
what a piece of junk!

3w per channel for the $100 MSRP is like robbing the bank, plus the spearkers are much worse than the ones on my TV (I got a sony WEGA).

Biggest problem is that the central speaker keeps giving a humming noise even at minimal volume setting (this the major reason I returned it)

Dont buy this, not even worth $5. Even the cheapest PC speaker I owned is 10 times better than this.
And a 3rd/central speaker to get you 3d/surround sound? what a joke!

For any Utah CAG's out there- The Ogden store is now at 60-80% off everything. There is not much left however. There are some Dead to Rights and True Crime games and some older sports titles for PS2. There is one copy of Tony Hawk American Sk8 Land and Sprung for DS. There are mostly Intec DS and PSP accessories left and a few guides. I picked up the last copy of Psychonauts for $12 but nothing else was worth picking up for me. The last day of the store will be Saturday.

Well Today is the Last day for the Bridgeton, MO location, I went at like 10:30 am thinking there wouldn't nothing left when i walked in the door and found out they were up to 90% off and some stuff was 95% off thinking there wouldn't be any video games left, i was suprised to find the last copies of the last 2 games timesplitters future perfect and serious sam II both for xbox timesplitters was $5 and serious sam II was $4 right after i grabbed someone asked where the video games are and as i was checking out someone else asked where they and i realized i got there at the right time

The Niagara Falls store is closed as of tomorrow. There was basically nothing left today for 90% off cept the gameboy micro cases, unbought PSP accessory kits (doubt many people here can afford a PSP) beyblade stadiums and all those personalized items like pens pencils etc. I have a gameboy micro so i bought one each of the cases for 1.50 and 1$ since i know Gamestop would be happy to sell me the same cases for $15 and 10$ respectively (and the one case could be used for other electronics like a cell phone).

Some hoarder had to have hit the store between yesterday at 11am and today since yesterday when i went at 11am there were tons of those Operation Liberty and Battlebots gba games left, they were 2$ each, they also had a stack of guides left still, in which i pulled a nintendo pokemon xd guide for 3$. They also had a ton of digimon figures left which no one was even looking at. Also yesterday in the case there were about 50-70 copies of grand turismo 4 for the ps2, and a few other games left. This was all gone today, i cannot imagine who would have bought it all other than some hoarder.

I bought the one copy of nanostray for 12$ when it was 70% off, that was a good deal and better than letting some hoarder get it, yesterday i also bought dynasty warriors advance for 6$, was worth it, i also bought a megaman playset for like 4$ and one each of the 2$ gba games just to have stuff for the collection. I figured with the Gamestop merger and the jacking up of prices by the chain id better scoop up all the cheap games i can get since i know they sell their crappy condition incomplete used games for a lot more than the TRU new and sealed merchandise. After i had bought all my stuff at TRU my total was well over 120$ if i had bought all that stuff regular price (what a laugh lol!) however with the 80% off it was about 25$ for everything, talk about a steal.

Sara that hoarders name is shes_history on this message board. He bought about 100 GT4s at 10am. maybe he will sell you one. And no IT wasnt me.

Megaman playset party at Daves bst elmwood gamestore by quickcheck across the street from dairy Queen . Winner gets 100 gran turismo's and 40 battlebots's and op armed Liberty for gba. Time? 2:00 sharp! Be there or be at home whining about hoarders in this forum.

holla

I dont really care if someone hoards the games, as i have no use for 100 copies of grand turismo 4, im sure that TRU was more than happy to sell them all since i dont know what they would have done with them if they didnt sell them. Its just mind boggling to think that someone would buy 100 copies of the same game especially considering that no one else in the store thought the game was worth buying... Same with the digimon figures, none of the kids were buying those cause they dont want them, they need someone to buy it all up. It would be interesting if the hoarder that bought all the TRU stuff was from this board though lol.

Sara you must not read our posts carefully. The hoarder posted 1 post before you, name : Shes History

LOL I don't know how many copies of GT4 were left at the Springfield, PA store, but I know I grabbed the last copies of Stubbs the Zombie($30) and I think Heroes of the Pacific(on 2 different trips to there).

I also grabbed copies of the guide for GUN, The Warriors(before my haul from the Middletown, NY BB of .01 copies) and Shadow Of The Colossus(again, before my haul of 2-3 more copies from the Middletown, NY BB store).

I also nabbed a copy of GUN for GC for $15 from the store there, too bad it dropped so quick in price across all platforms, as that was trade fodder at its best(since I also own the game for Xbox and didn't really need a copy of it for GC).

Anyway, Springfield's store is closed.

I know because I checked just prior to going to their Best Buy and nabbing a huge haul of penny guides.

Either way, the TRU stores closing was a good and bad thing I suppose.

I got some games I really wanted BUT people had to lose their jobs in order for that to happen for me.

Indianapolis store closed at the end of March. They were completely out of games way before they closed. Way too many bargain hunters in Indianapolis.
