A question about paying for stuff online with Credit Cards...

CAGiversary!
I am writing this because there are certain things I want to buy online that require me to use a Credit Card. I am sort of banned from using a card right now, so I was curious to know if there were any ways to pay for certain goods online without having to use a real credit card.

For example, is it true that you could use a gift card and charge stuff to that?

Thank you for your time.

I like how you mentioned PayPal, but unfortunately I don't think everyone would accept it. I don't know how you are supossed to pay for something on Overstock using PayPal, if you can.

Someone got busted buying a whole lot of internet porn?

Paypal which will use a bank account. If the store accepts paypal when you go to check out. There will be a place to pick paypal either a drop down menu or just look for these paypal logos.

Also you can go to paypal.com and search to see what store take paypal. Here is the link for that.

Well, Overstock isn't supporting PayPal right now. There is something I want to buy on there, but using a Credit Card is the only way. Well actually, that or some form of borrowing money that I am especially wary of, but anyway, I want to know, is there anyway I could use a gift card or something as a substitute for a credit card?

How old are you and what did you do?

I'm 13 and am very careful wuth my card, so I've had it for 2 years.

I've even payed for it.

You didn't buy porn, did you?
um use virtual credit card with paypal
That's the best choice. Or buy a prepaid card from a convenience store. They run $28.95 for a $25.00 card to $105.95 for a $100 card. Most places have Visa and AmEx

Edit: Were you banned because you bought pr0n and now you need to new your subscription?

Just to set the record straight, I did not buy porn or anything like that.

What I did buy were various things for referral services. For example, I bought a subscription to RealPlayer which I planned on canceling after my offer went through. Unfortunately, my parents caught wind of this and banned me from using my card for an indefinate period of time.

[edit] By the way, I got the idea to take advantage of referral services thanks to this website.

I would think that you could go to a bank and get a prepaid credit card (I know a friend who did it). You could put money on a card and use it online... call some banks around your area and see if you can.

Simple - go to a grocery store. I know my local A&P has a ton of credit cards you can put any amount on - amex, visa, and mastercard alike. Some have pregiven values, but there are those which you can put as little or as much on as you like.

Easy!

You make it sound like it's this site's fault for your banning from credit cards. It was your own responsability. Your parents gave you a responsability and probably let you know ahead of time what you could and couldn't use it for. You made the decision to take the chance, this site didn't force you. This site merely provides information. You can decide to use it or not. That is your deal.

Anyway, Amazon allows you to pay in many ways. They even let you use money orders. As far as universal payments go, there's pretty much nothing else besides the ones already mentioned.

For the record, I wasn't trying to peg the blame on any one person or body or institution; what I wrote was merely a caveat for fellow CAGs who want to be involved in referral trade that is being promoted on the Free Stuff board and elsewhere on the internet.

As for the idea of utilizing a prepaid credit card, I was suprised that I didn't think of that. I will be going to the grocery store today so I will make sure to buy said card.

A warning for people who are using credit cards with limits? I still don't see how this is related to the CAG site. A better statement would have been to warn people about all referral sites, not just the ones specifically posted on CAG.
