I was just wondering, does the 360 play dvds out of the box? Ive had mine since april and dvds only start up but the whole system will freeze up after playing one for about 30 seconds. I couldnt watch my GOW bonus disc video on it and normal dvds get the same result.
Is this just because it needs that remote to play dvds or is there a problem?

it should, bought mine in may and I've watched a few DVD movies on it already. Try clearing the cache..? If that doesn't work call CS.

My 360 plays DVDs, but it does not play them well.

Instead of the black bars that should be there, the 360 stretches the
image to fill the whole screen vertically, which makes it unwatchably distorted.

I don't know if everyone has the same problem and just doesn't notice, or what.

I found the cache trick but no changes in playback. I wanna call CS and have it sent in again and get it fixed but I dont wanna wait another 2 weeks.
Remember that there are limits to resolution with component cables....
With component, that would be the highest resolution of your TV/source device, or 1080i, whichever comes first.

Did you mean composite?
