I was shopping randomly at KMart and found this TV marked down from $800-500 and now $375 closeout. I can't seem to find reviews and I really dont know much about HD's besides the basics. I mainly use my TV for gaming, so I was thinking for the xbox's and the 360's component hook-ups. The exact model is Advent HT3061A. Also could put a year warranty on it for $20-30. Just checking if this is worth the money or not. I currently have a 27in Sanyo Flat CRT.

Any help is much appreciated, Thanks.

Pretty sure it doesn't support 720P, which is the xbox's native res. Even if it does accept 720P instead of going blank, it's either going to be scaled to 480P or 1080i, and probably rather poorly.

Say no to the Advent.

I've heard nothing but bad about the Advents, both Picture Quality and reliability (avsforum and hometheaterforum regular here).

If you want a cheap HDTV get a Sanyo or a Samsung - a good manufacturer with better PQ.

While this them is open has anyone ever heard of an "Akama" bad or something like that? Just wondering if it was a real brand. I saw it during a BoA video as one of those Jumbo TV's.

If 720p is the Xbox standard, then why do so few games support it?

He probably meant 360, but it remain to be seen whether 720p is the standard, or both 720p and 1080i will be standard.

Yep, meant 360, and I think it's already been confirmed that 720p is the standard, but 360 will support scaling to 480i, 480p, and 1080i

I think ps3 and 360 are going to be 1080p uhhhhhh If you have never seen 1080p go to a big box and look for it, it looks so damn sweet. My HDTV is not 720p but 1080i native and scales well ESPNHD(720p) looks so damn good but a 1080i brodcast can pixalate (sp?) with a lot of action(fox nfl).. And the TV your loking at if its going to be you main tv I would say no but I have a Apex(same brand as advent) 20in Flat CRT non hd that I got for 100 and its one of the Best TVs I have ever had
