Amazibn Trade In & Pre Order - timing for Halo Reach ?

Okay, I'm trading in Borderlands to Amazon for $18 today (mailing it out tomorrow).

I also want to use this $18 towards Halo Reach & make sure I get the $20 pre order bonus credit for a future game.

1 - If I pre order Halo Reach now (today), can I use my $18 credit towards that once they receive the game in a few days? Or will I have already been charged and too late to use it ?

OR

2 -should I wait to get the $18 credit THEN pre order the game? (I just don't want them to pull the $20 future game credit offer over the next few days)

As long as you get your credit before the release date of Halo Reach (and before it ships to you), you should be able to apply credit to a existing order. I hope that answers your question.
