Yeah, for the most part last year and this year has been all about buying games $15 or less. That's what Black Friday's all about to me, so while some new games are at nice discounts I'm MUCH more interested in the random $5, $10, $15 game. Same for DVDs, though shrink it to a cap of 5. I got a decent haul (especially on the DVDs) so far and expect it to grow. Some people want a relatively new game to be at like 70% off and that's unrealistic for the most part (not unheard of I'm sure, but that's the rare exception), but I think most just want some really cheap stuff that they haven't bought yet, are willing to give a shot, and realize that their backlog just doubled. New stuff I really don't care for, especially these days where you can expect most of these games to be at their $35-40 price range in some 3-4 months anyway.

That, and the fact that amazon pretty much trolled us at 3 AM, pretty much sum up the complaints from those familiar with the day. Those who *aren't* are the ones camping on a single, recent title and hoping it'll be something incredibly low. Good trolling though, I laughed.

Thanks, bought. Sure, I'll have to wait for it to ship, but I save on tax and the hassle of going to a GameStop. Here's hoping I enjoy it, because I really didn't play the first one ALL that much... it was a bit bland for me... I've heard this one is more colorful and over-the-top?
 
Is there ever going to be a Lost Odyssey deal. Jeez it's the only game I NEVER see a sale on.

I hate to break it to you but they titles they're "adding" were all already on the list yesterday as far as I can tell. They randomly wiped out almost everything on the 0-10 list last night and they've been slowly adding the items back. It's kind of weird but I guess they're at least doing something...

The list is growing bigger... unfortunately it's just the same things that were on sale earlier in the week. Glancing through I'm seeing the exact same list that I saw on the weekdays. A few could be different, but not anything worth noting.

I'm not so sure. Many of us CAGs don't yet have HDTVs (because we're cheap...), and as of yet have not invested in Blu-Rays yet. I have a PS3, for example, but will be playing on an SD set until I can get a decent 37 incher for $300.

And yet those of us that do have rather large collections. Once you go blu you will NEVER go back. Well unless said movie/tv show is not on blu. Then you have no choice.

Amazon killed it for blu-ray deals. I just wish I had seen that 10 James Bond Blu-Ray deal for $59.99 before it sold out :cry:

They did, but I bought way more off gohastings at 30% off or buy 1 get 1 for $1. Most of them that I got looked brand new.

Their (Amazon's) current prices on Terminator: Salvation, Harry Potter 6, and the Hangover are pretty tough to beat.

yeah was a killer deal on that one... would have liked to have picked that one up and the xmen trilogy for 29.99, but was at work and well I probably could have done it anyway but I had already spent more on blu's than I had intended so didn't try for 'em.

Ah, when I saw that coming up on sale, I just thought it was the most recent 3-pack on sale. Didn't realize their was a 10-pack. I got all 3 3-packs for like $25 each already a couple months back, so it isn't so bad I missed it.

That's an amazing deal though. I probably would've grabbed t and flipped my 3-packs had I realized it though.
 
Being the first winter I've ever bought a large amount of new releases in, this sure teaches me a lot of things. How many titles dropped 10-20$ that I bought just month ago =P

And there's a few of those out there, though far more movies look better or much better on BR than DVD.

For games that are a year + older, Amazon could not have been beat. I bought Uncharted at gamestop a earlier this week for 26, USED, at gamestop. Amazon listed the game for 15...

Assasins creed for 10 bucks? Albeit two years old, where you gonna find a deal like that?

Or 15 bucks for MGS4?

Or 10 bucks for Tales of Symphonia?

Amazon has spoiled you all throughout the year with promotions... Face it, Amazon is the best place to buy games regardless of one "black friday," gone wrong in your book. /END RANT.

I consider myself to be pretty cheap (don't mean this as an insult, but I'm obviously not as cheap as you), but I really strive for getting value from larger purchases I make (electronics, appliances, etc). This is strictly my opinion, but you are hardly getting the most value out of your ps3. Ignoring the blu-ray aspect for a moment, one of the ps3s largest selling points is gaming in high-def audio and video. You're just missing out on what I consider to be a ton by not playing regularly on an HDtv (or using a surround sound system that can handle LPCM if you aren't currently using one).

I have Prime, but that doesn't even account for how great Amazon's shipping is for me. I got Klonoa, SC IV, SF TE arcade stick, and the mx1100 cordless mouse I ordered on Wed today from a messenger/delivery service today.

Wish there were more classic movies on Blu-ray. Don't see a lot of Bogart or Hedy Lammarr. Modern movies, with a few exceptions, don't really do it for me.

So you speak for others, eh? I would bet most people who have a PS3 play on HD. I'm not saying all, but a bunch of people I know on here waited on getting a PS3 until they had the equipment to fully enjoy it on.

Either way, I really don't care, I'm just stating an opinion that Blu-Ray won and people are eating it up. When i go into Target or BestBuy I see the size of the BR sections growing and the amount of people in each. BR players are also on the cheap and that means more people then not are going to buy them.
 
You gotta realize people just recently were getting new games at bestbuy for 10 dollars. 30% off is crap compared to that lovely glitch.
I saw they were selling WOW for 40 dollars for a day. They had that game at that price last year. So yeah amazon is showing me a bunch of crap this BF. Last year they had all kinds of good accessories at like 80% off. I see none of that this year.

yay... yeah amazon ran with exactly the same prices as every other retailer... those other retailers didn't drop their prices any lower than they did because they had heard of people triple stacking something called an ECA code on amazon and were pissed off because of it... :applause:

in all honesty... the recession/depression whatever you want to call it has really hurt a lot of retail this year(betting we see a lot of bankruptcy in the 1st quarter next year)... so I'm betting they were hoping to recover some of their bottom line by just not giving the massive cuts on BF if other stores weren't willing to... Not to mention they know people will be buying on BF so why not sell what you can for as high as you can... I look for some good sales thoughout december tho and probably some really good after Christmas sales.


One thing I'm disappointed in tho... would have liked to seen quite a few more older titles discounted a bit heavier.

The MW gift should be fine. The $40 off promotion was the one that you had to use in one sitting.

I used 18.98 of my MW credit on half minute hero when it was DOTD and still had 1.02 taken off for the batman arkham asylum lightning deal.

I have to reiterate that I LOVE Amazon!! If they had food and gas, I'd probably buy that from them as well. With Amazon Prime and living in California (8.25% tax) buying stuff from Amazon is a no brainer. Sure I buy some stuff at other places (bought the netbook from BestBuy) but for the most part, Amazon exceeded my expectations and on more than just games.

I too have like 8 packages coming on Tuesday!! lol
