part 2 fixes pretty much all the frustrating parts of the game

Hmmm, couldn't "get" this game after a few hours of play. But I might try it out again, thanks for the heads up.

haha you too? I remember this was the first high-profiled, high-hyped game to come out after the 360's release. $60 dropped, 2 hours into it, I was like WTF?!? and haven't touched it since. Even with the strategy guide, it's useless.

I seriously doubt part 2 remedies all this. More slave slots?? Yippee! OH, there is still a time limit? Alright!!

Ahahah but is it worth $10 or not even?

Eh, it's a pretty flawed game. It's the type of game that isn't quite as fun as it looks. There are some good ideas found throughout, but it has many frustrating design choices.
Ahahah but is it worth $10 or not even?
dude, IDK! I'm a firm believer in almost anything is worth $10, and I guess if you have the time and patience to dedicate to it, then it may not be that bad. Mowing over zombies with a lawn mower I could do for hours on end (but that was b/c I couldn't advance much further from that area  ) But yeah, frustrating would be the key theme with this game..I think if you got this and that XBLA Case Zero, you just might be set for what you would need from this series.

so my friend was explaining how to actually play this game... instead of restarting from your save points you just restart the whole game everytime you die, or fail. You get to keep stats, and eventually you just turn into a zombie killing machine making the game much less frustrating. Considering the campaign is only like 8 hours long anyway, and not to repetitive this seems like a good way to play.

I'd give it a go but can't think of anything on amazon to fill my other $15 to get free shipping.
Ahahah but is it worth $10 or not even?
I would say definitely yes.

It is in a lot of ways poorly designed, but once you restart a few times with exp (yeah, you shouldn't need to, but you do) and get a feel for where all the useful weapons are in the mall, you get good at it like any other game and it grows on you.

It's worth trying to see if it's the game for you at 10$.

Why isn't my amazon credit working for this?
EDIT: NVM, it was being sold through Amazon from a different website. Threw in Mass Effect 2 so I could get the super saver shipping, and added a $10 credit onto ME2. In other words, I just got Dead Rising and ME2 for $20.:bouncy:
Recently picked up L4D2 as well. What a great Halloween. RDR undead nightmare, along with some Dead Rising and L4D2.

Exactly!!!!!!!! :applause: I loved this game but, understand it's not for everyone. The timer was a pain at times but, once you have played it enough and know your way around the mall it's not a problem.
Another gripe was escorting survivors since they don't have the best AI. For 10 bucks I recommend the game easily!

This is one of my favorite current-gen. Just finished the sequel, which was great also. I'd say it's definitely worth ten dollars, but I understand that the game isn't for everyone.

Tip for anyone who does get it: Don't even start on the story until you've spent a life or two just levelling up, messing around, and getting the mall's geography down. Then try the story later.

This game was the first game I got with my 360 and I loved it, regardless of its flaws in design. I buying it again for the love of killing zombies.

With the first game, I'd suggest playing as far as you can until you get the hang of things. By by then you should be level 10-20ish. Save, Die and restart from the beginning and you'll find the game much easier and you'll actually know what you are doing.

Tip: The convicts respawn, after killing them initially to save the couple, just run by them the next time you pass through the area.

Dead Rising 2 has better survivors who can actually fight back though. Order them into corners after giving them some weapons and they'll keep themselves alive.

In both games, survivors have unlimited ammo. You don't. Don't be afraid to toss them your shotgun when its down to one bullet.

God I love this game...

I never got to finish it since I don't own my own 360. Here's a tip for people who find it impossible: Keep starting the game over until you are like level 20. It makes the first boss fight possible to beat and it starts you off much better that way. Damn I wish this was on PS3 so I could play it before buying DR2.

edit: lol I didn't really read the responses before posting and just noticed I gave the same advice as shin above me.

Crap, this is tempting. I had it for the longest time, got 800/1000 Gamerscore, then traded it in. I was always tempted to go back and finish the rest of the Achievements, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to try for 7 Day Survivor again after my power went off after getting 5 Day Survivor. D:

Got it for $10.74 with tax, thanks OP! After finishing up Case Zero I still have a hankering for some more Dead Rising and at this price, its perfect.

I was literally about to buy this the other day for $20 since I loved Case: Zero so much. Good thing I waited. Thanks op.

Originally tried the game out on my old SD TV and couldn't read most of the teeny tiny text. Now that I have a nice 42in 1080p TV I think I'll give it another go for that price. Thanks OP!

Wasn't there an update that fixed that or am I making this up?

This game really isn't that hard, guys. I always thought it was but I finally sat down and had some patience with it and had a GREAT time with this game.

If anything play with a printed out guide next to you. All you really need to do is find the right magazines to carry around, maybe do one playthrough leveling up your character, and then do all the case files.

Also always carry mannequin torsos. They are THE best and most available melee weapon in the game.

I was killing bosses near the end of the game in like 10 hits with mannequin torsos.

It is now $11.64.
Not much of an increase of price so I still might buy it. Depends on if these lightning deals will have any games I'd like.
I was planning on getting a used copy from eBay for last couple of days but for some reason the price keeps floating around $15 excluding S/H.
Wasn't there an update that fixed that or am I making this up?
no update, but they fix it in lost planet and dr2
part 2 fixes pretty much all the frustrating parts of the game
Don't get me wrong I like the new game but I sometimes miss the frustration of the old game it is what made the game hard. This one is just too easy basicly once I get a survior to join me as long as i dont have to carry them or something I can just run around the mall and they will pretty much always take care of themselves. Throw them some food once in a blue moon if they do get low on health.

I guess what I am trying to say is u dern yongsters don't understand what it means to rescue a survivor. Back in my day we had to carry the survivors uphill both ways in the snow and I think there where zombies and zzz.....

Regular Version or Platinum Hits version?

My OCD doesn't let me buy Platinum Hits (or Player's Choice, Greatest Hits, etc.) games.

PH. Guess you are going to get it used
I would have bought it at 9.99, but 11.57 seems too much in comparison. Perhaps I'm being too cheap?
If you really wanted this game, then yeah..you're being cheap. If you were going to get it at 9.99 only, you didn't want it too much to begin with ;)

Got the game from a closing BBV for $9 (tax included) and found the game enjoyable. The thing about it is, you have to really understand the mechanics. Survivors aren't all that useless if you give them OHKo weapons. Also, some of Frank's skills really help a lot in the early game (jump kick is one of the best crowd clearing attacks if you just need to get pass a crowded corridor without killing zombies.) Great game, but definitely not for everybody.

Thanks, I sold this a few years ago because I could not play it on my standard TV. I got an HDTV a few months ago and I have been waiting on this to be around $10.

Thanks for the heads up!

One of these days I'll beat this game! It was the first game I got with my 360 for $19.99 but I have the GH version as well. Only game in my collection with the GH artwork.

Another great Frank move is "crowd surfer" especially if there is a throng of zombies.

I wish this game was on another platform, I really want to play it again!
For anyone who missed it at 9.99 via amazon, Newegg now has it 9.99 FSSS
Thanks! You saved me $1.55 (or cost me $9.99 if you want to look at it that way). :)

Thanks For the heads up.
