That's cold brother! I couldn't believe it myself, I figured it would be popular but snap, that was the fastest I've ever seen a lightning deal get claimed...don't know if my FiOS connection helped, but that's ridiculous. I wonder if Amazon keeps track of the fastest claims...
 
This one wasn't even close to the fastest lightning deals on record. You know one is fast if it rolls over and is already sold out. This one lasted at least a minute.
 
I agree with the other posters. I just barely was able to purchase the Back To The Future Triology (Blu). I was basically on there at 11:42 and it was already at 95 percernt claimed. I just barely was able to purchase it and then realized that I was able to get the deal ($8.xx per movie). Overall good deal by Amazon, although it was claimed quickly.
 
Yeah it seems like for the most part, Amazon has ensured plentiful stock this year for those people dedicated to getting the deal. Those people who sit ready watching it countdown. Except for the guy above that got screwed by it taking forever to check deal status :/
 
Grabbed a copy of BTTF (I had 2 tabs open with Amazon.com, one had Checking Status while the other added it right away)... I am done with spending money on myself this year.

Now just got to shop for all my family & friends...
 
What the heck is the "classic gangster film" with two versions coming up in 3 hours? None of the pre-listed movies/shows on the calendar seem to fit (Death at a Funeral/Ghost Writer/Shutter Island/Hannibal Lecter all have corresponding clues)...Goodfellas? I'd love if it were the Godfather Coppola restoration on BRD but I doubt it. Then again, the BttF clue was pretty unspecific. The two versions makes me think it is a BRD/DVD combo though...I don't see a Goodfellas BRD/DVD combo listed anywhere at Amazon. Maybe we have to go further back (Public Enemy with Cagney? The "classic" line makes it hard).

Any ideas?
 
holy shit. that was insane. all I need to get now is shutter island and we're good.

so I was on my laptop and since my hp netbook refuses to use my college's wireless today (of all days) I've been wirelessly tethering with my Droid X.

my phone, for whatever reason, turns off at 11:38... leaving me with no internet.

thankfully my friend next to me had her laptop on and was doing her online physics homework... I grabbed her laptop, quickly went to amazon, signed in, went to the lightning deal page with 2 seconds to go, and snatched that shit up.

gotta do whatever it takes!
 
When I hit add to cart it checked the deal status then started a countdown to when the deal was available again. It then showed at 65% gone about 35 seconds into the deal. Luckily the second time I added to my cart it when through.
 
Got BTTF luckily. My first window i clicked Add to Cart right away and it sat at "Checking status". After 30 seconds, i opened another window and brought up the lightning deals to see it at 94% and Add to Cart again. Clicked it and popped up right away with the successfully added to cart message. Glad i didn't wait any longer.

You didn't even need to add anything to get the free shipping but I think Stargate on Blu-Ray is an excellent deal for only $8.50.

Are there any (notable) differences between the 15th anniversary edition and the regular extended blu edition?

BTW as far as the "Get two versions of a classic gangster film", I'd have to guess it's a deal on the original Scarface and the Brian de Palma/Pacino Scarface

New much better transfer, theatrical + extended cut instead of just the extended version, and special features which were dropped off the original release (only thing on the old blu-ray was a commentary track).
