Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

5. Price Matching notes: Generally we do not match international retailers (GMG, Gamersgate, etc) or physical retailers (Best Buy, Newegg.com, etc.)
To check out the Free-2-Play games we offer you can visit our storefront here: Free-2-Play Store

Reading through those NBA 2K14 reviews, it's astonishing how so many people could use Steam but not understand what it is, or what it does, or how even if they had a physical copy of the PC version, they still wouldn't have been able to play it at midnight Pacific, or that it's not up to Amazon as to what uses Steamworks as its DRM. It's like shoving needles into my eyes the level of ignorance. o_O

There are countless lifestyles in the West alone. Some cats don't fcuk with technology and it shows.

A few aren't even tethered to the internet 24.1/7.

nerd talk

I only played 2 matches. 1 against the AI and 1 online. Netcode is predictably awful, lag so bad you have no chance at hitting jumpers or free throws. As far as the new game mechanics, they seem pretty cool I guess. The shot stick is back to the R analog (without holding L) and the dribble moves are there too if you just flick it. Seems like it would be pretty easy to accidentally shoot when trying to do crossovers but it never happened to me. Hold L trigger and the R analog is a pass stick where it gets fancy. Seemed pretty cool but I'll have to screw around with it for a while before it feels natural. Floaters and 3s seems way harder to hit. Mid range game is tougher to get open. Blocking is much, much more prevalent. I was able to block people who drives recklessly at will.

Visually, it looks pretty much exactly like last year. Couple of new animations. Shinier floors. Better crowds.

Overall if you're a big fan of the series it's worth $25.
Thanks for that. So basically no new modes, additional animation, new controls. Any feedback about the AI?

Also for those interested in assoc mode like me I found this in OS site: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/nba-2k/666243-nba-2k14-association-mode-good-bad-ugly-more-depth-look.html

Tony,

Is there a reason why ADVG doesn't sell the Mark of the Ninja DLC? I've always noticed that you have several games without the DLC and I don't understand why the publishers don't try to give you everything.

Now I need to buy a pen and touch tablet ASAP :bouncy:
Did you end up buying this software? If so do you have any first impressions?

Edited: Was Manga Studio Debut 4 listed at $27.71 yesterday when the coupon deal was posted? I thought it was cheaper?

*looks again* Oh. The physical copy is $18.99 but the digital download copy is $27.71. WHY! WHY! Well poo. This looked fun for $4 but not so much for $13ish.

It was free after the coupon when I posted it (the link to that software). $13ish.

I'm not that good at stealth... so here's my extra steam copy of Mark of the Ninja, if anyone wants it. W6V5G-3IKA6-7WKPA

You could've been good at this one. I don't have the patience or planning to be good at stealth games, and I just don't like them, so I usually skip them altogether. I really liked the look of Mark of the Ninja, as a platformer and all so I gave it a try, and have been playing it whenever I get a free moment.

He said extra copy, so I'm assuming he already has it.

Individuals that received 2K Complimentary Packs from Tony last holiday season should take note that all the Rockstar games have been removed from your library. I found it kind of odd that they would revoke access to games I have had for almost a year now. Let's hope this is only because Rockstar technically publishes their own content.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a fantastic bundle, but it's kind of unnerving having no idea if the game I am playing may suddenly be removed from my library with no warning.

Well hopefully they add them back to your library, but this is the scary thing about services like Steam. They can essentially do what they want with your game collection.

I don't really care if I "get them back". It's not like I would get the chance to play a dozen open world games any time soon. ;)

Figured some people might want a heads up. I won't be upset until they take Civilization V

What happened here exactly? You mention a "2K Complimentary Pack" and then Rockstar games are removed. I don't understand.

Hey Tony, any tip about Deal of the Week starting tomorrow?

Thanks.
Paddington has abandoned us.

The real Tony was never seen after that pre-order meeting, offered up to the publishers as a sacrificial offering to the game gods.

Well, perhaps. Much of the real horror scenarios would face a really stiff resistance both in court and via public opinion.

This is a bit different, though. Complimentary access to all of a publisher's games isn't quite the same thing as being given, straight-out, all of a publisher's games.

I wonder, have those that got that pack received new 2k games as they've been published?

I've had a pretty...interesting week. I got promoted on Tuesday (YAY) then yesterday morning I fell HARD in the morning while getting ready for work, slipped in the bathroom, destroyed my cabinet, hit my face on the cabinet, wall, sink, and eventually floor and definitely tore a ligament in my knee (BOOOO).

Some of you were asking about the pre-order program I was talking about, good news there too, I didn't get disappeared for bringing it up :). We'll be adding $5 Video Game Credits to a number of pre-order titles either this week or early next week. We'll have a mix of titles with and without a $5 credit so that we can measure the efficacy of the program. Additionally, we're offering all of our publishers with 2013 titles the opportunity to participate in the "Premier Program", participating titles will get a $10 Video Games Credit with pre-order and the titles will get increased coverage across our marketing channels.

Sorry again for the delay!

Cheers,

Tony

Congratulations and sorry to here about the accident. Knee injuries definitely suck. Next time celebrate being promoted around some bean bag chairs, they hurt less. ;)

Was going to snag Aftershot Pro, but it's OOS. I may jump to Paintshop Pro if the former doesn't get restocked with keys. Thanks Sifu for posting this.
It looks like the PC digital version of Aftershot Pro is back in stock. I just made the purchase, coupon worked fine and I got a serial number.

Anyone knows if the XCOM Classics is a single key or separete keys for each game?

From the looks it seems to be a single key.

Congrats on the promotion, let me guess, the new title is something like Director of Community Synergy for Digital Video Games?
