Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

Holy crap, I'm getting taxed on amazon? That's such a bummer.

also, these Max Payne sales seems silly. Why does Max Payne Franchise Pack cost the same as Max Payne 3 Pack, and less than Max Payne 3 solo? not that im complaining about $7 for everything

 
Does anyone know if it will be the physical or digital copy of BF4 on sale tomorrow for PC? Really hoping for digital, but the link goes to the physical copies page.

Amazon will have the best price on BF4 tomorrow at $24.99 hands down.

GMG has BF4 Premium for $37.50 if you use the very very soon to expire 25% off voucher GMG25-DW6L1-6XGZ9.

I thought it was worth mentioning with people having numerous questions about it.

Yep - I think taxing to most locations (like MA) began in early November.

They probably are doing this w/ pricing for Max Payne Franchise pack to boost that pack's sales.

Amazon DVG does this A LOT - where the pack they want to sell for a series offers more content and is cheaper than another pack w/ less stuff.

Plus - you could always giveaway, trade, or sell your extra keys, if you get extra keys you don't want.

 
People are asking about PS stuff here, so I guess I'll ask too.

I've heard a rumor that the PS4 indie game bundle on Amazon that currently goes for $37 will be marked down to $20 on Black Friday. Any truth to this? I'm on mobile right now so it's hard to search.

I bought it for $37 on Monday, so if it is true I hope there's price protection.

Instant Access requires you to link your Origin account directly to your Amazon account and when you purchase, the game is automatically added to your Origin library.

Game download will give you a key you can add to Origin manually. I'm pretty sure Origin is required to run the new FIFA games.

Well guys,

I'm headed home soon but will be online most of the evening trying to field questions from around the internet. I wanted to take the opportunity to wish everyone a great Thanksgiving for those celebrating the holiday. I hope you get to spend lots of time with the people you care about most, I'm lucky enough to have a great circle of friends out here to spend Friendsgiving with.

Do you know if we can add these purchased from Amazon to a copy bought from steam? There was a comment about someone not being able to add the Amazon version of the DLC to a steam version of Tropico 4.

I'm guessing that the number of "I didn't get an e-mail" complaints this year will roughly equal the number of "I can't find my e-mail" complaints from last year.


You know what would be slick? An account-based page on the Amazon website that lists our coupons and credits, with details showing when and how they were earned, what they're good for, and when they expire.

(Feel free to bring this suggestion to "the team" next week. Then lock 'em in the conference room and don't let 'em out until they're done coding it.) ;)

 
Sorry to keep the PS Plus questions going but is that midnight tonight or tomorrow night?  Have to get up at 3 est to get it and don't want to do it on the wrong day.

Tony, a few things.

I saw earlier in the thread that you would check into getting Steam keys for Might & Magic Heroes VI Complete Edition and I would like to add my name to the list of those wanting a Steam option for this as well.

Also earlier in the thread Spectromancer Steam keys were being discussed as well. The non-Steam bundle is @ 90% off. The Steam bundle is missing the "Gathering of Power" DLC and is also unavailable, however, the "Gathering of Power" DLC is available, but has no discount. Would you be able to discount this DLC to 90% off as well? If nothing else, a price match to Steam would drop the price to 4.99.  Coincidentally that is also the only DLC I'm missing.

Lastly, will Amazon be getting more Steam keys for Port Royale 3 Gold?

Instant Access requires you to link your Origin account to your Amazon account. The game is instantly activated upon purchase.

PC Download will give you a key or the option to download via Amazon.

I just activated the Steam key I received from purchasing the Voodoo DLC from Amazon and it worked for the Tropico 4 Collectors Bundle I bought directly from Steam. There are Kalypso versions as well so just make sure you are buying the Steam version and I think you should be ok. Unless anyone has had a different experience?

Pretty sure this is going into effect 12:01am PST on 11/28. Everything I've seen says it's a Friday deal only. That said, if it were tonight, I'd be a happy CAG.
