Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

I am REALLY glad I got Crysis Maximum Edition yesterday for $7.50. This game is great.

(Yes, I'm actually PLAYING a game I bought).
^_^ I've always wanted to get that, just so I can say of my gaming pc, yes, it will run crysis... I'm just not big on FPS, and it hasn't dropped below $5 that I've seen.

$7.50 then EC Tony, <hint> <hint>. ;)

I remember, back on September 2012, that the very first thing I bought from Steam was Crysis Collection for $19.99. At the time I thought that was a great deal (actually played Crysis 1 right away). In fact it was my very first digital game purchase. Back when all started....

for EC wishlist (prior to EC discount) what about;

repeat of X Com Enemy within and Enemy Uknown together for 19.99

repeat of Lego Marvel Super Hereos at 11.99

repeat of Kentucky Route Zero for 12.49

Steam keys for blood dragon and call of Juarez gunslinger for 8.99 together

Bioshock Infinite, Pixel Junk Monster and Shooter (the two together), Scribblenauts Unmasked, Joe Danger Bundle for 9.99 each

Skyrim Legenday for 19.99

Dishonored GOTY for 12.49

Skulls of the Shogun, Outlast, Brothers, Rogue Legacy, Contrast, Divekick, Darkout. Guacamelee, Ducktales, Typing of the Dead, State of Decay, and Marlow Briggs for 7.49 each

*Brink for $6 - the Mooby special (if this does not go on sale, can we all chip in for a copy for Mooby?_
This. Seems relatively reasonable, and I would definitely go for State of Decay, Ducktales, and Kentucky Route Zero at those prices (Plus Mooby will be thrilled for Brink, I hear).

Well poo.  Just tried to redeem my Steam keys for Hearts of Iron III DLC Their Finest Hour and Motherland but Motherland requires Semper Fi as well as the HOI III base game.  I should learn to read instead of making assumptions.  I should also redeem my keys before sales end so I could go back and buy what I really need.  I can't possibly get Semper Fi at 50% off now when I know I could have had it for 75% off.  I just can't!

Maybe I should go to bed now.   :headache:

Edited:  Hmm.  Apparently my "duplicate" HOI III key was actually a complete collection that already included Semper Fi and Motherland so not only do I not have to wait for another 75% off sale but I now have an extra copy of Motherland with no friends who have it on their wishlist.   :wall:

PM me if you need a free copy of HOI III Motherland DLC!

It was actually Maximum Edition. I didn't mind paying $7.50 for basically 2 games :)

You disgust me.
I expected this reaction from SOMEone :)

Just like Fox, would like to know who as I would buy all for $16 ish any day.
I think he just made numbers up. I checked the Russian store prices and it would be around $27 there.
Krugozor has AC 1+2+3+Revelations:Gold listed for 18. You'll have to PM him for Brotherhood prices. Brotherhood should be pretty cheap, and could be compensated for by dropping the Gold Revelations down to Standard.

SteamDB currently lists the RU prices for the first 4 games (1, 2, Rev, and Brotherhood) in the 1-3 dollar range. These prices aren't quite that low, but with some profit tacked on for the seller, it seems reasonable. It's certainly not as low as the 16 you got quoted, but I found you a seller fairly close. Might be worth a PM (I haven't decided if this is worth springing for; since we're buying all of them a la carte, AC3 will drop lower. Plus, I've heard that it's shit).

created a lot of online dating profiles lately, have we?
Online Dating Profiles? Is that what this implies? Shit. Certainly explains the fuck -ton of responses I got when I offered three desperate keys for a game on SteamTrades.

Must be one of those "key parties" I'm hearing so much about.

Any chance of a price match for How to Survive? The Uplay store has it on sale for $3.75 (and apparently it activates on both Uplay and Steam, or so quite a few people have said).

What I don't understand is what Bethesderp's response is re: Brink… "Uh… no we can't go that low. There's still a market for it!"
They can't discount it too much, it's their least buggy game! Wait! Buggy... game...

I just realized, Bethesda should make a buggy game!

Amazon pretty much only matches Steam nowadays.
That is Steam, in a roundabout way. Just two steps, not one. :)

I've been referring people to there to get their Steam keys cheaper than on Steam, I just can't take advantage of it myself due to yet another Digital River cockup regarding payment. Hate those guys.

I tried to buy Skyrim LE from them last night (it was ~$13US) and it just kept giving me "Server Error" after I submitted my card.

I think the only wrench in that is he said all of them (including AC III, but not IV) for $16. Maybe that might have been true earlier in the year when I think Steam still had a AC Complete Pack available.

Same here, one of my very first purchases. I got Crysis and Warhead for $9.99 in January 2012. Only played about an hour or less.

I meant the Steam store.. it being a steam key doesn't matter.

Amazon has cheaper Steam games? I guess some deals are better like some bundles.

This is so weird, the same thing happened to me.

For some reason, Amazon is charging me now for Tomb Raider PC which I bought in February. Anyone else experience something like that?

I bought Tomb Raider back on February 25th, 2013 and was charged for it on December 25th, 2013. Apparently I was never charged for it initially. I'm stunned and I didn't even notice until today when I looked at my emails more closely. Then just a few hours ago I got another email from Amazon letting me know they've issued a $5.00 promotional certificate for any inconvenience. Double wow.

So I had Tomb Raider for free since its release and I didn't even get to revel in the fact of this bizarre occurrence? Damn, shame on me.

Tony, where can I sign up to get Watch Dogs, the Witcher 3, and Dark Souls 2 on this stellar zero-down, zero a month for 10 months + a $5 inconvenience credit? ;) ;) ;)

EDIT: Did anyone else experience this besides CheapyD and myself?

Tony,

Any chance you could talk to 2K can get the Freedom Force games on Amazon (Steam versions, of course~)?  Been forever since they got a 75% off sale on Steam.

Did anyone else get an email about not being charged for a previous digital PC order? They just now charged me $8.50 for the command and conquer collection that I ordered in July. Not a big deal and they gave a $5 promo credit for the error.

Just FYI if it had been a larger charge like a $60 new release it might have been a bigger deal.

Hey guys I just got an email telling me I was charged for Seduce Me which I did't buy this year. Anyone else have this problem, I asked Amazon for some compensation and they kept telling me size doesn't matter and advising Viagra.

Same thing happened to me. I marked the Tomb Raider purchase down in my spending file so it must have initially appeared on my bank statement but was never finalized. Really surprised to see that it happened to others. Now to find something to spend the $5 certificate on.

Don't know if I should wait for a square enix pack or buy it now.

made by Rebellion (Alien vs Predator, Sniper Elite V2)
I'd stay far away from that one. Played it for achievements on 360 and had a miserable time. You can't jump, enemies are bullet sponges that sometimes blend into the background, you have to press a button to pick up ammo, grenades and iron sights are near useless, I could go on and on. At one point in the game, I made a direct hit on a foot solider with an RPG and he kept coming like nothing happened. Don't waste your money.

I don't doubt the game blows, but most of your list of reasons reads as "I played a shooter made prior to CoD: Modern Warfare." Sounds outdated rather than bad. (It's probably also bad.)

(Edit: I'm aware the game was made after CoD4.)

No if you add all games ac1(61rub) ac2 (99) ac:b (99) ac:r (99) ac3 (149) thats 507rubles, which equals to 15.5$, so depending of how much they take for trade, some takes dollar some more, some less. Also some takes some % from each some, some would just take from final price.

I've purchased through the guy before and he was very quick and easy to work with. Having said, that, I don't think this conversation really belongs here and would be better done through PM or, if you're interested in this kind of thing, using the thread intended for it.

Here is that thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/307615-steamorigindesura-etc-tradesellbuy-thread/

I like the older games like Doom, Quake and the like a lot more than today's modern military shooters. Shellshock 2 isn't "outdated" but still fun like those games, it's just bad.
