Who is it bad for? Seriously, guy? Maybe you should think before you reply.

It'd be a slap in the face to all the collectors that collect these things. You'd then essentially be locking one behind a $300 paywall. Most people aren't going to go for something like that and I would imagine that would upset quite a lot of people(myself included).

I highly doubt a single amiibo is going to drive sales anymore than amiibo already do in general, especially in Nintendo's eyes. Remember, to them they still think the main selling point of these things is the functionality - which is why they've been talking about moving to a card format. To Nintendo, people are using these things, not keeping them sealed and hoarding them in a closet. Also, with how limited these things are how many bundles would they possibly have? A few thousand? That's not nearly enough to be doing them any favors.

Besides, if they went that route the whole thing could backfire and a lot of people could just give up on them entirely. It's just not a good idea to do something like that to your fans.
.... so its bad for you and me and people on this thread but not Nintendo. That's what he was trying to get across. This akin to people arguing how the limited MM 3DS sales were terrible for Nintendo when it was probably the opposite.

It's still bad for Nintendo because of how many fans you're upsetting and as I said, there wouldn't be that many manufactured so it wouldn't do them much good anyway.

I'm not going to argue the fact any further, this is all speculation anyway and the chances of this scenario taking place are slim to none.

Skylanders locked a Shiny toy in a Wii U bundle last year. Who cares?

Haha so this would be the straw on the camel's back and not the hundreds of other shit things they've done to fuck over fans?

Oh no, They might upset a few hundred people who might give up buying Amigos. Oh no...I'm sure Nintendo would be super upset.

i think nintendo made a huge mistake with the gold/silver marios. turned off a lot of ppl like myself, im out after smash bros. what, 2 or 3 more waves? i can do that. you fucked up nintendoodoo

They don't have very many left (unless they plan on doing color variations or all of Bowers Kids). After the current announced line, it's what, 8 more?
Wave 6 should be it. Wave 5 and 6 are 13 figures total. You figure wave 4 is April, so maybe wave 6 will be out by the end of the summer.

13-18 depending if they release Mewtwo, the other Robin, and Mii fighters. Maybe more if they turn other future DLC characters into Amiibo as well.

Good. I'm sure Nintendo does not care about turning off "ppl" like yourself. They are toys and meant to be played with. The people collecting them are not going to be buying games that utilize them. If you are getting your panties in a twist about a spray painted common Mario figure, you probably should stop collecting in the first place.

lol you're such a nerd. i dont wear panties i wear mens boxers XLLL if you know what i mean

This is my first try at getting an Amiibo (Ness at that :wall: ) and was wondering when it'll be announced and what's the best vendor to go through to pre-order it?  Thanks guys.

I'm surprised we are already at variant amiibo. Not sure the reason behind it. Most folks are out after smash series, but you have to think plenty of amiibo are still to come.

Mario series next isn't at all surprising.

We still have a new zelda game coming out which could have its own line of amiibo.

Nintendo have found themselves in a money making machine.

I wouldn't be surprised with new lines coming out strategically with new games coming out over the next severa years. This has only begun.

Well, it's a figure that comes in one color. It's not really a variant to the degree of a different pose (already getting the same Mario for the MP10 SERIES) or a new accessory. It's simply a color.

I would be shocked if we didn't get a Zelda line, Mario line, etc. We already have a Kirby one essentially.

It will be announced when you're sleeping, showering, eating, making a long distance call to auntie, shopping, reading, watching a movie, playing a game or otherwise not looking.

The best? Newegg. Definitely newegg.

In November before amiibo released I talked to a Nintendo rep who said plans were only to release 48 smash amiibo. No variants or mii fighters. So 19 total smash left. But again with how these blew up who knows what ones they will add.

First off, don't do this:

The best? Newegg. Definitely newegg.
Second, this is 100% correct:

It will be announced when you're sleeping, showering, eating, making a long distance call to auntie, shopping, reading, watching a movie, playing a game or otherwise not looking.
Here's the problem: the preorders for the next wave, which include Ness, will probably be gone at each retailer's site within an hour. It's that crazy.

Your best bet to avoid this craziness is this: when you hear that Gamestop preorders went up, that day or the next day if it's later in the day, IMMEDIATELY go to a Gamestop and preorder it in-store. Online GS preorders precede in-store by a business day or less - this was the case for the MP10 figures.

The window will be tight, but in-store Gamestop has lasted the longest for amiibos, the Majora's Mask LE and the New 3DS Majora's system.

Hard to say "when", my guess would be next week or the week after. Close to the 20th. As for "where", honestly, probably GameStop. It pains me to say it but I think their track record is generally the best as far as not over-selling or cancelling pre-orders. I could be way off base because I haven't done a lot of business with them though.

Nintendo reps typically know nothing. They know what promotional items they are given and how to merchandise stock.

Source - friends have been Sony and MS Reps.

I don't even want all of them. Just a couple to open and display (DK, Mario, Link, Bowser, Wario). And it sucks that I cant find the one I want the most (King Dedede) and it just pisses me off. Hopefully I can find a reasonably priced one eventually. I've already spent more in gas than the $13 its worth. But a bunch of Sonic s and Mega Man's are popping up in NY, so I am hoping for the best.

These will likely be the unicorns for the rest of this Smash line

Unicorns

  • Dark Pit
  • Palutena
  • Olimar
  • Ness
  • Rob
  • Duck Hunt
  • Mr. Game and Watch
Rare

  • Lucina
  • Robin
  • Mii?!?!?
Uncommon

  • Zamus
  • Mewtwo
  • Greninja
  • Pacman
  • Falco
Common

  • Ganondorf
  • Jigglypuff
  • Bowser Jr.
  • Dr Mario
  • Wario
  • Charizard
The last few wave are likely to be heavily underproduced. I want to put Lucina and Robin in as a potential unicorn but with STEAM and reprint of Marth.... nah.

Thanks for the help, I work relatively close to a Gamestop, so I'll just run down as soon as I catch wind. Thanks!

EVERYONE check MEIJER.  I called on a whim, seeing a previous post, and mine also had the full wave!  Got MM, D3, Ike, Sonic.  They had tons of Sonic, Toon Link, and Sheik, but got the last MM, D3, and Ike.  When I called the lady said they can't hold any, but they have tons.  When I got there as I said I got the last of those three, but it's worth a call!

Luckily they're also limiting it to one per customer, as she said just before I got there some asshole tried to buy all of them and she denied him.

Now just need to trade my Rosalina for Meta and decide if I actually want Lucario (don't like the character/pokemon, but he'd also be the only thing keeping me from a complete sealed US set at this point...)

Taking anything from that Reddit subform is with a huge grain of salt. They are mostly 12 years old.
The last post I saw was some kid who said he was "drunk" and was wanting a villager. I hope he wasn't 12.i don't understand who upvotes that crap.

Since when has nintendo cared about upsetting the fans? Also it's just a variant so I don't think they care if some people can't get it.

Your first mistake was listening to a nintendo rep.

No problem. Just keep a general eye on things so you know when the shit hits the fan. It won't require insane timing like the Gold Mario did, but you may need to go on a lunch break or after work the day you find out.

That's too bad because it's part of the amiibo dictionary.
The dictionary made by nitwit reddit teenagers? Yeah, no thanks.

how can you say that with a straight face with a pikachu toy hanging on your wall. Lol!
I'll tell you how: for years, I did research for and worked on game collecting rarity lists. My friend and I wrote the Digital Press SNES list, which is the one either used everywhere or copied by everyone. Yes, I am in fact looking at it as SRS BZNS.

Unicorn is an idiotic term for rare, when no amiibo is actually rare considering the definition of the term as well as how it applies to general game collecting.

The crap 12 year olds come up with.

If only they had $50 they could buy many of the "unicorns". So much money!
This so hard, it hurts.

Feel free to block people that uses it. (everybody)

What sucks is that I want 6 out of those 7 prospective 'unicorns", and not because of rarity but to open and enjoy on my desk for sentimental reasons. I'm going to drive myself insane for that many hard-to-find amiibos.

You are literally the only person to use that term here, because I assume you are a teenager and don't know any better. As far as blocking, as I mentioned earlier, I have blocked most of the posts on r/amiibo already, so I won't see it there either.

I won't block you because that's infantile and reserved for people like Nothing371.
