Aside from Playstation's weak-ass attempt to copy the Wii Remote/Nunchuck with the garbage Move, what have either company copied from Nintendo?
"A new application from SCE called "PlayStation®App" will enable iPhone, iPad, and Android based smartphones and tablets to become second screens."

As I am starting to see general price levels of amiibos drop from scalpers and ebay, am I safe to assume a lot of people are now getting burned out by the NA NIB collecting and just importing or buying OOB ? I started my collection with 19 oob from a friend and couldn't care less from where I got them as long as I could keep the price at MSRP or under 25$ an amiibo for rares. Anyone give up and just start doing anything they could to save themselves the time and stress that is Amiibo camping ?
I think these reprints have successfully weeded out some resellers though. Instead of selling for $60+ many of these reprinted ones now brought the market down to $25-$40 or so and for those margins, only the truly dedicated with better seller rates and such or those who buy in bulk somehow (or those who are dumb and can't do math well) would take the time to actively try and resell. Sure, you may still be able to get 100%+ profit, but after fees and opportunity costs, I'd think many resellers have chosen to bow out.

Also, I'm glad others are able to get the "rare" ones now for those who really want them, though a part of me is sad that my collection might not be as "rare" now. I didn't really have any intention of selling these and I had already purposed on day1 to get them all anyway (so I'm not getting them BECAUSE they're rare), but I'd be dishonest to say that the collector side of me that says "hey, look at what I've got" isn't saddened by the increased availability of some of these.

Sweet. Now that the "rare" are available, all these NIB collectors will likely go away since they will no longer be "rare" and have no need to buy them since their little collections will be worth less.

Win win!

I'm still here. :D/

Rare or not, I'm in for the long haul on the SSB series, an entire NA NIB set will display in my game room.

That being said, I concur with the majority of what KnightOfTruth said. My Villager may end up being worth $50-75 less but it's nice to see several more people who want it get it.

You seem to have a grudge against many of the collectors on this thread and I'm not really sure why.

Hmm... think you missed what I said there mate. I'm an NIB collector, and not going anywhere. Still intend to get all of them (like I said I have from the beginning). But umm... yeah, power to the people!

Can't wait to run into more open-box raving Nintendo lunatics on Thurs. and again on the 31st.  Happens every time in a big line.  There's always some dirty 18-24 year old kids that bring $30 in their wallet.  They like to go around telling everybody their business, classify everyone but their own demographic as scalpers, rant and rave about how evil and stupid Nintendo is, while adding in that they're the biggest fans.  Because the gameplay with amiibos is SO AWSEOME, right?  The literal definition of bigots.  Entitled little twats.

Meanwhile I make friends with a couple of the normal dudes in line, we exchange contact info, and I hook one guy up at cost with a rare he's missing.   Last time that happened there was a 6' bowling ball of a nerd screaming at the top of his lungs about scalpers when he heard me say I had doubles.  Then I proceeded to sell normal dude a mint Marth for $13.

I love release day.

Respect to KnightOfTruth, litepink, angel98, and Kyanos. They generally seem to refrain from the characteristic caustic bickering in this thread. Thank you for the positive posts. Really lightens the mood during the lulls.

Now if only I could behave as well as you guys. :p

Yesasia.com cancelled my Ness order too. Got one from Amazon japan for ~$15 plus whatever tenso charges to ship it. Prolly gonna be a wash either way

if you've ever been to a gym you would see that no one cares, unless it's a girl with leggings no one looks at anybody. go get some gains man
If gyms will stay open until at least 11 PM instead of 6 (since, you know, the vast majority of Americans with jobs typically work until 5 or later), utilize monthly fees instead of shitty, ridiculously long contracts, get rid of the hidden fees, and (most importantly) price themselves reasonably then I will consider it.

I know not all gyms are like this, but I swear all of them in our area are utilized by morons who are either unemployed or whom can just leave work without anyone noticing. But even then, the park is still free......

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Sony already did this with the PSP/PS3 no later than 2008. Demos existed and everything.
Actually, the GBA could be used as a two screen experience/controller in a few games during the gamecube era (starting in 2001 and around 2003 respectively).

Since when are D-Pads and Lock-On considered gimmicks?
I wouldn't call Lock-on mechanics a gimmick (and I don't think that's what Deader was saying either), but the D-pad was chosen for the famicom controller due to it's potential as the closest thing to an arcade joystick (without actually being one). It was advertised, at least in the west, as being able to "perfectly" emulate joystick movements. Thus, it was originally a gimmick.

Hey, thank you for noticing! I don't post in here all that often, so I was certainly surprised to even see me mentioned. It's been kinda slow lately and I already have my 5a and Yarn Yoshi amiibo in hand so I haven't been checking quite as often.

It was, but the original post seems like it was talking about the PSVita phones/tablets copying the Wii U controller.
Yeah, you're right. It was a bit misleading.

Dreamcast launched in September '99 (the only reason I remember it is because the release date was 9-9-99).

Sony's Pocketstation came out in January '99 though...
That's the US release date. The Japanese one released in 1998.

Also: damn, never heard of the pocketstation but, it's a total rip off of the VMU. It looks so similiar. Colors and all. Wow.

I'm trying to only count things that had real-time dual-screen functionality. Pocketstation is more like a memory card with minigames in that respect, whereas the VMU had function while gaming on the Dreamcast.

got another pit today from GS. i'm really glad NOA is finally giving a restock of all the rare characters, even if it's a horrible restock for each store. i was able to get on all of them, somehow. makes me wonder if this will ever be the last restock for marth, WFT, shulk, meta knight, pit, etc.

wasn't there an announcement awhile back that villager reprint will be happening too?
Nintendo had motion controllers for the original NES: Power Glove, U-Force, and GameHandler (the original one hand controller).
Oh, right, that line of controllers that Nintendo didn't actually make...

Just imagine, this is the same conversation people will be having about virtual reality sets in three years when no one cares about them.

VMU was actually based off of the Secret Screen prototype for N64 shown in the September 1997 edition of Electronic Gamiing Monthly.
