When the new 3DS came out, an update occured for everyone regarding SSB so yes I had to update my game in order to use amiibo or play online. There was no system update (at least, I don't remember any) if that's what you mean.

And yes, if your system isn't up to date I don't think you can access the e-shop to update games.

I only see "Amiibo included in bundle".

Not really saying its exclusive yet. Regardless I plan to import it whenever the wave releases foreign, Nintendo just keeps getting dumber and dumber with the exclusivity and bundles.

Yeah, a paperback book though. The limited edition comes with hardcover is my understanding. One thing is for sure. Nintendo of America is giving us the shaft it's like Reggie just don't care & not even trying to run things properly. Maybe he secretly hates us.

 
Hey guys I have not followed this thread as much as some of you have so I was wondering whats the best way/chance that I have of getting a Rosalina and Greninja amiibo? Those are probably the rarest ones that I want that I dont have.

The game is awesome, instant purchase for me...locked in my GAME preorder if it turns out to be exclusive or some other nonsense.

On Nintendo's Facebook page they announced that Pac-man, Charizard and the Splatoon 3 pk are hitting shelves again. Anyone see the Splatoon pack anywhere?

Actually Nintendo isn't selling it.

"Polygon reports that Yacht Club will be selling the figure on its own. It’s the first licensed amiibo, and Nintendo will promote the Shovel Knight figure “in line at retail” along with the other figures."
 
I'm all over that Shovel Knight amiibo. I already own the game on 3DS and with the co-op feature I'll likely be grabbing it for Wii U as well.

Crossing my fingers for an amiibo and game combo, even if it's just a download code for the game.
 
My son bailed on the amiibo thing months ago after getting all of the MK8 figures, but he recently regained interest with Mario Maker releasing soon. So I have been totally out of the amiibo loop since the beginning of the summer.

What's the status of 8-bit Mario? Did US pre-orders already go up? If so, what are the best prospects for tracking one down on 9/11/15?

BTW - picked up the only non-preorder Power A end level amiibo stand that my local Gamestop had for sale. Impulse purchase for my son's bday yesterday. It is pretty badass. A lot bigger than I was expecting.
 
That Shovel Knight is so awesome.  Hopefully he's not so niche he'll be impossible to find.

Thiiiiiiis close to just saying fuck it to the sealed US collection, gutting the ones I've got, and starting importing.  Still need Lucina, Robin, Greninja, Lucario, and Dark Pit, and with so many coming in September I just know I'll not be able to grab all of...

Must.  Hold.  Out.  Hope...

(But just in case, what's the best/cheapest way to get European or Japanese imports?  I saw the Amazon.de links but was at work and no idea how to order from non-US Amazon)

I just bought Charizard from Amazon (shipped and sold by Amazon) yesterday for $12.99 while buying a used villager Amiibo that popped up i the Amazon Warehouse page yesterday. May be Charizard is already back in stock ?

No US pre-orders yet unfortunately. Aside from Amazon obviously, the new trend seems to be stores first/online second lately which makes it a pain in the ass for people who have to work since Nintendo releases things on Friday. The one bright side is that at least they seem to be staying up online for more than 3 minutes when they do eventually pop up.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking of opening mine. I have all the NA ones except Villager. I'm tempted just to open every single one I have.

Thanks, guess I can try to snag one at BB when I pick up Mario Maker. That gives me enough time to double-back before my Gamestop opens if I don't score one at BB. Fortunately, my work schedule is mine to make a tweak as I see fit.

I've imported Amiibos from all 3. You need to use Google Chrome though so you can right click the page and "Translate to English." All 3 have packed my stuff really well. I currently have the 3 Mii Amiibos & 8-Bit Classic Color Mario on pre-order from DE. Unfortunately they don't allow the Modern Color to be shipped to the US.

Awesome good to know. Nice that all I need to do is translate the site. Sad that importing is actually cheaper than buying domestic :(

If I gut em, I'll probably do so in a way to preserve the package as much as possible. I did the trick of slicing into the bottom and scratching away at the silver sticker so I could use a couple in Hyrule Warriors (got an extra link and shiek), but haven't had the guts to fully open any haha.
