Just got back from Nintendo World. They had plenty of Sonics left behind the counter. No line for them. In fact there was hardly anyone in the store. Guessing Work/School/Snow is keeping them away right now
gnoh said it sold out earlier. so, they have more?
Which is it guys ? Very small chance I can get someone to stop by for me in the next hour, but dont wanna put them out if theres nothing there !

Well as of an hour ago when I got mine, they had 20+ on the shelf behind the counter on the first floor and looked like they had another box or two of them. They definitely weren't sold out and there was hardly anyone in the store yet, none buying Sonic other than me.

Now that I look at mine, both my Ike and Shulk orders are closed. Wonder what's up with it.
As I mentioned earlier, I wouldn't worry much on those orders. If you chose to pickup in store, those orders had their release dates removed yesterday and they should be on the way to stores which is why it appears as closed. If your order is anything like mine, both the store and online reps will tell you that your order has not been cancelled and your reservation is intact.

Did they require your id to purchase? Weird they would only have sonic when he's supposed to be released later than the others That they haven't got yet
No, that probably should have tipped me off they had a lot. NW ordered all of them so its up to the fullfillment center to determine when they randomly decide to ship to them, sorta like how some TRU's got the wave 3's really early.

Gamestop in store order pickup also shows closed for me
Confirmed by Gamestop.com and store that items are in shipment and can be given to you as soon as they arrived. Closed does not mean cancelled. Instead, it means that it is on the way to the store and Gamestop.com has fulfilled their part of the transaction.

That's not even fair. With amounts like that, it's 100% obvious that Nintendo is creating artificial demand here in the states. Or they still haven't figured out the American market after 30 years. That's just messed up

My Lucario and Rosalina came in from Amazon Germany today. The email said they would come on the 9th but I got them today so I'm in a good mood ^_^

Got my shipping email from TRU for Lucario :). Also my target order for rosalina came in today.

I was just curious and went on CL and type in Rosalina and got damn! Sooooooo many flippers asking for $40+.

makes no sense that Europe has so many "rare" amiibo's in stock but we have nothing.

Makes perfect sense. NoE said they would continue to have a supply of all Amiibo characters; NoA has said vague and contradictory things and won't even confirm basic things like release dates or which retailers have exclusives.

Europe doesn't have the flipper problem we have or the collectors buying multiples or the good intentioned CAGs and others buying multiples for their friends. They probably also don't have the same demand as Nintendo does not have the same level of devotion and nostalgia in Europe (where the NES wasn't really a massive success and subsequent Nintendo consoles were successful but nowhere near the level they were here or in Japan) that it does in the United States or Japan.

Also, you can't tell anything from these isolated photos. There have been times where my local Toys R Us and Target have had massive stocks of Amiibos (although admittedly commons) and other times when you'd be lucky to find anything on the pegs. Unless people are taking photos of the same stores in Europe repeatedly, we really have no idea what stock is like on the ground.

That makes no sense though.  I don't know what store that is, but if there's more demand for amiibos in the US, why does that display look five times bigger than any amiibo display I've ever seen in TRU, Target, Walmart, Bestbuy or wherever?  Target especially has very little room because of Skylanders/Infinity and the fact that they shove them all in the videogame section.

I'd be interesting to see what came first, though;  the scalper or the poor US distribution, in terms of most "collectibles" and toys in the US.

I've been working a double shift since 5:30 this morning, just blocks away from Nintendo World(with a flexible schedule, mind you) and haven't checked in here until now....

I am so disappointed in life right now. =( Sonic is pretty much the last thing I was looking for, before giving up on this Amiibo hunt I've taken up, and I could've had him so easily.... Ughhh. Lol I also feel like my luck is pretty much tapped at this point when it comes to these things.

Just got off the phone with Nintendo Workd, and they said they had 2 left on the floor that they could not possibly hold onto at all.

Guess I'm gonna have to keep rolling these dice that I can grab a GS in store one or one of these online orders from any of these other places...

'Bout to be watching this thread like a hawk. =|

Do we believe that Sheik is rare enough to grab an extra for trade purposes? My Target has one in stock but I grabbed my Sheik yesterday. I have everything pre ordered minus Shulk so just trying to get extras to get a Shulk.

Can't really say anything you just said is more than a theory that doesn't apply, considering in this picture there's tons of each amiibo and we are lucky if our store gets 4 of one. IE, Captain Falcon and Pit coming in sets of 2..

My theory is there are more US retailers carrying amiibos versus European stores carrying. More US stores thin the product and create demand. Less European stores means more product per stores and demand is lower because availability seems to not be a problem.

Again this is all guessing, but what if each region gets an equal share of amiibos? If you start dispersing say 75% of the product and only 25% to Europe Nintendo runs the risk of over saturating the US market and creating more demand in Europe. I'd guess they're more inclined to stick with the higher demand in the US because of store exclusive deals...again all just thoughts of mine.

Not fact.

Hey Amiibros

I'm currently writing a story for a gaming media site about Amiibo hunting.

If anyone has any true Amiibo hunting stories, whether it be horror stories, stories about people you've met, bad luck, great luck, ridiculous fighting, or just really anything note worthy, PLEASE PM ME.

I really wanna hear from some of the people in this thread so I can get your stories heard! To my private messages only, please - I'll be re-posting this sometime in the future as well. Thanks guys! :)

You should totally get the story about the guy who saw the zeppelin.

Lol some people on here with holier-than-thou attitudes will rip you for having that idea. With that said, yea he's hard enough to get for a good trade bait.

I'm not sure if it's intentional, but it does seem like the relative scarcity is driving up demand.  Be honest, how many of you guys would be doing all this if they were relatively easy to get and/or shelfwarming?  The concept itself and the in-game execution still does very little for me when compared with, say, Skylanders.
