 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Thanks for the heads up. Probably will pick up the Classic version then. And yeah that slipbox is pretty nice. Too bad that one in the auction is pretty beat up.

Yeah this was dicussed in the anime section at br.com. Sentai have addressed this issue by stating they are aware of it and any future release won't have them. Also you can use the hair dryer method and remove them that way. I was going to try goo gone but after reading about people even attempting to remove I just cut them. I will try the hair dryer method later.
Yeah I did try the hair dryer method and it worked on some of the sticker, but you'll still ruin the cover on some parts. If you manage to pull it off without ripping it you'll leave a sticker residue mark. It sucks but what could you do.

I have the collectors edition of fruits basket with the art book it looks nice on my shelf :). What are the chances we will see a lucky star blu ray release here in the states?

Go for it, I enjoyed it.

It works. It only messes it up if you put too much and/or rub too much
Noted. I messed up my edition of Walking Dead Season 1 SE with GBG so I figured it wouldn't work on art box esque packaging. Haven't tried it on slipcovers. Idk what these companies get out of odd sticker placement that is damn near impossible to peel off.

I've been in the slip game since 2009 and I can confirm that Goo Gone will work on slips. The only slips that it can damage are the felt/velvet type slips like Casino Royale and Remember Me or the matted slips like The Last Exorcism.

Just apply Goo Gone to the sticker witha Q-tip, wait a minute and then remove the sticker. If there is any sticky residue left follow the same process and wipe off with toilet paper.

Ga-Rei: Zero down to $29.99 on Amazon. Any thoughts?
I grabbed that used a year or so ago from GoHastings. The first episode is terrible for several reasons but from that point on it isn't terrible. It's a prequel anime to the manga, Gai Rei which I heard isn't all that great and seems a lot like Bleach. Just think of it as a more effed up version and the sisters are veryyyy close.

(I would suggest waiting for it to dip below $25 but that's just me...)

For almost all sticker residue, I use scotch tape. Goo Be Gone didn't help when I had remnants of the plastic wrapping stuck to my Full Metal Alchemist DVDs. It just made the case smell. Just get a piece of scotch tape, place it on the sticker residue, then peel. You don't need to tear it away fast as that may be damaging. It's a meticulous process. I once spent 20 minutes and used 6 pieces of tape to get some crap off something, but hey, if you're really OCD like me about getting a clean finish, it's worth it. If the tape doesn't remove anything, then I use a hair dryer for about 20 seconds to heat the area up. It makes the sticker more susceptible to coming off. Goo Be Gone should be a last resort.

Does anyone have a picture of all the dragonball, z and gt vhs tapes edited and uncut that came out. I am trying to see what i'm missing
Sorry, but all I have are the DBZ DVD's during that time. Must have spent close to, if not more than, $1000 to get them all.

At least you guys have stickers. Some of my DBZ DVD covers would be ripped at the bottom since the slipcovers were slightly betterthan the DVD cases. I have to have those lengthy security stickers from the bottom so the picture wouldn't be ripped. No Goo Gone (what the heck is Goo BE Gone?) will fix that.

I noticed the Battle of Gods Blu Ray is available for preorder on Amazon for $24.49. Do you guys think I should buy it from them or wait until later this year during Rightstuf's holiday sale?

This isn't really anime related, but everyone that I want to notify about this reads this thread.  I just noticed that they've changed the way the listings show up when browsing Amazon Warehouse Deals.  They now list a New and Used price on the item like you'd see on a regular search instead of just the AWD price.  With the weird video formats that showed up earlier I originally thought they moved a bunch of new stuff to the AWD section, but I just found out that's not the case.   To better explain:

Persona 4 Golden (the AWD price is $17.99 used) shows

$16.90 new

$14.50 used

Just a heads up.  Yesterday I was in a Dollar Tree killing time waiting for another store to open and noticed they had multiple DVD copies of Tekkonkinkreet for a buck.  I would've picked one up if I didn't already have it on blu.  Figured I'd post it in case anyone is looking for it.  This was at the Pittsburgh Mills store.

Hellsing Ultimate worth buying?
I rarely say this, but if you haven't picked any of them up by now I would just wait for them to bundle them all together into a single set., Unless, of course, if you can get them for around $10-15/set.

Until they announce that it will be a SAVE set and that they will remove the blu ray discs.

Gonna have to say that it's going to go to the Anime Classics line... It seems be be a bigger title in Funimations catalog. so it shouldn't go DVD only...

Makes sense, thanks. Im guessing that means you recommend the show?

I personally like both the all-canon Hellsing Ultimate and the original Hellsing anime. But Ultimate is obviously the better buy. It sucks that the last two OVA's have to be in one set but that was all due to Geneon going under and then they merged with Universal. I can only see this hitting the Anime Classics line in late 2015/early 2016.

If you like character growth, well thought out plots, and superb storytelling - no. Otherwise if you are looking for some good over-the top characters and action framed in a bit of a horror setting (as in they're vampires, but it's not Nosferatu) then yes. And as Chris said, they're both pretty good. Between the two I think I like Ultimate better (though I've only watched up to where Geneon left off).

Late 2015 you think, Chris? If I had to make a guess I would think it would be out by summer of next year

Eh, it all depends. Funimation's marketing team always confuses me. Hellsing could go down the line much sooner but I would at least think that they would want the older sets to start to sell out throughout the year. I guess it all depends on sales at this point.

And boy, the LE box I have for the first 8 OVA's will sure look silly once the last two come out. =/

Hellsing Ultimate is brilliant. I am ecstatic for the last release. I would recommend the original series to start off with since there is a complete series and the individual DVDs don't cost much either. If you're a collector some of the original DVDs came with a Hellsing patch so I have a few of those. It's a great show, little slow but it's really good.

Ultimate follows the manga more closely and is again, brilliant. It's got everything an anime should have. Overall very good. Also the Major's speech is one of the deepest things in anime history imo.

Wait for the SAVE or Anime Classics line as collecting the first four chapters is a pain since it rarely comes on sale, the next four always do at about 24.99 (blu) and then the final chapters will release in October. So WAIT. But if you can't just stream em online

I think Hellsing Ultimate is worth it right now. One of the better OVAs out there. Planning on buying it soon since the final volume will be coming out. You can get volumes 1-8 on blu ray for about $57 total right now on Amazon. And don't forget, each episode is around 45 or 50 minutes long.

I can't see them doing the release that quickly. They're going try to get every penny they can out of this release first before they even think about doing the re-release.

I'm not sure I was almost positive they were going to do a full complete ova set for halloween. something with an art box, a small booklet with some concept sketches, some of the patches that they used to release. this anime is good, like really good imo. ova's are generally hit or miss but this has been so good that I can't see why they won't do something along those lines. if all else fails we still have the anime classics release to wait out for but then again if they do go that route i would like to collect the individual sets.

Anyone watch this series? It's been in my cart for months. I just never heard anyone talk about it but the trailer made it look promising.
It's pretty good, it's one of those with fairly good comedy/ funny narration w. A dash of raunchy. strong girl lead, weak male lead , but male Gaines confidence and makes girl fall for em.

I wasn't impressed with Okami. Watched several episodes on Netflix, but didn't find it interesting enough to finish. Perpetually angry, distant girl + shy, timid boy who likes her =  we know where this is going.

I got it for $16 since I had some Amazon credit. I might watch a few episodes on Netflix just to see if I actually want it or not (since it will take a few days for it to ship). Thanks for the feedback, guys.

STOP any anime purchases you are buying and buy a copy of the Love Live premium edition... It's going out of print right at this moment. Rightstuf has like 18 copies left. NISA Store sold out of the premium concert editions... :( Even if you didn't like the show... You can just flip it! :O

Love Live is great.
Yep, I love the show. Since RS is out I went with NIS. I wanted the CD but I'm happy with the poster.

Didn't think Love Live would go OOP this soon (I underestimated its popularity) Ended up buying a copy from NISA with tax :(

Edit: This purchase pushed me for another coupon so I guess it worked out alright lol. Poster isn't a bad plus either~

I thought I had ordered it, but I didn't find it in my gmail search, so I went ahead and ordered two copies. There were 4 left, and I didn't want to take the time to find something I wanted for free shipping.

Nor did I. That was real surprise considering it was on RS for so long...
