 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

... The Witch Hunter Robin vol 1 box used to sell high too, then RS clearanced them out for $27 or something. I should still have 5 of those too. I can't get to my sealed Anime. I know where they are though.
Back in May/June of last year, some seller on eBay was selling off a whole pallet or two of those Witch Hunter Robin Vol. 1 boxes with the t-shirt, OST and shot glass in them, still new/sealed, for $4.99 each... I bought one just for the shot glass.

I also got one of these - this has to be a fairly rare item, WHR related...

Nice poster. Where did you get it? Off topic, but where the hell is the spoiler button?

Yeah I know I bought some for $9 each shipped or something on ebay. I guy had a ton of them in 2010 (id was vintageDVD or something like that). I sold one of them for $100 on ebay a couple months earlier, so all of mine are paid off. I was selling the CD for $15, SG for $15, Tee for $20 IIRC, even when I was buying them for under $10 a set. I tend to sell enough to pay for the lot, then save the rest (not just Anime, but a lot of things). Those were the good old days of ebay.

That was a limited edition art print available a few years back from the artist listed in his post link above - I got two t-shirts with the same artwork on them last year from teefury...

So I'm guessing I'm the only anime fan that has a series on laser disc. I'd post a pic but those are in deep storage aka my garage
Nope. I have several, including the Tenchi OVA collections (Book of Heaven/Book of Earth) and the Kimagure Orange Road TV series that AnimEgo released back in '98. The KOR LD set is fantastic, it puts to shame the terrible DVDs released later (which were missing the intros/outros and had inferior picture quality).

Did anyone pre-order the third Persona 3 movie from Rightstuf? If so, has yours shipped yet? I'm growing impatient considering the release date on the site was 1/20.

I ordered it as well and mine hasn't shipped yet either.  I believe this happened with the 2nd movie as well.  I think it was due to it being an import disc and I think that's the Japanese release date so we still had to wait for them to get to RIghstuf after they were released before they could ship it out.

Funny story - so I bought Tenchi Forever on VHS probably 15ish years ago. My brother stole it from me and told me it had an "adult" scene.

I have still not seen Tenchi Forever to this day. LOL

With a tear in my eye, I bought DtB S1 from Rightstuf just now to avoid whatever shenanigans may occur later. I strongly disliked the packaging that people mentioned and was hoping for a re-release like S2, but that won't happen now. Who knows what AoA will do with it, but I don't trust them at all. Overall, I'm only paying about $2.3 / episode when I look at my combined cost for S1 + S2 + OVA. That's totally reasonable so I'll take it. I just hope the box doesn't disintegrate during shipping....if it hasn't already in the warehouse.

I'm Frankensteining my Blu-ray discs from that horrid Season 1 PE into the chipboard box for season 2 LE... I'm just going to trash the S1 packaging.

Received my copy of Harlock Space Pirate from Twilight Time. Haven't watched it yet, but looking forward to seeing how the 3D is. Twilight Time's website made it look like it was going to come in a slip cover but, sadly, it doesn't. Regardless, I'm thrilled it came out in 3D at all in the US (with that said, if I had a region-free blu-ray player, I would've just opted for the UK steelbook edition).

First 16+ rated anime dvd I ever purchased. Tenchi
has sex with someone in the movie. You only see tits though.

Meh, I'll be content with my Season 1 thinpak packaging. Much more stylish.

The last Tenchi I could stomach was Tenchi in Tokyo. Didn't care for GPX or War on Geminar and Ai Tenchi Muyo was painful (not because it was short, but because of those character designs).

I liked the first half of Tenchi Muyo GXP  and have only seen Tencho Muyo from Toonami. I'd like to see Tenchi Universe someday.

And I've spent at least $1,000 on the Dragonball Z series alone. I have all the Pioneer DVD's (with original boxes. Yes that includes the movies boxset), the original single Funimation releases (Garlic Jr. onward with boxes) , the first volume of the Ultimate Uncut Special Edition (use to have all of them until Funimation stopped releasing them and I sold them for ....), the first and second season of the orange bricks, and the Level 1.1 Blu Ray.And I plan to buy the season set Blu Rays and Kai when the time is right.

Who knows how much I'll spend on Detective Conan/Case Closed if someone gets the rights to the rest of the series.

I actually didn't mind the Mihoshi's brother storyline, but OAV really should have focused more on the Tokimi storyline. One episode is nowhere near enough to conclude that story.

So got my Eva 3.3... And the cardboard box is slightly crushed, with what sounds like the disc loose inside. The packaging itself looks to be prone to creases. Guess I'll open it up and contact Rightstuf but anyone else get a pristine copy? I don't think I'm particularly picky or anything...

Ugh opened it up and the disc is loose and the inner case is cracked.

Wasn't Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari some kind of off-shoot of Tenchi? I enjoyed that one.
I think his disdain is in the spinoffs that aren't Tenchi centered.

Not quite sure about using Tenchi in Tokyo as a reference point for what's good or bad though, as that series was a complete abortion.
