 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Ranma 1/2 Special Edition (Season 2/3/4//6) under $24 shipped from amazon or walmart.com Seem like they are clear out LE version for Regular version. Get it while you can before OOP LE version ;)
Thanks! I definitely wanted to make sure to get the LEs while I still could, since I've got seasons 1 and 2 already. Went ahead and ordered 3, 4, 5, and 6 from walmart. :)

Hopefully they all end up being the right version, but if not for some reason I can always return.

Now to hope season 7 LE drops at some point as well.

On top of being a terribly written show,Bleach wasn't exactly a looker either.I honestly don't see the point in a blu-ray for that.
And don't forget that it never had a proper ending, even the manga is still going.

Also, did the first couple of seasons even get a HD release in japan? Because if they didn't, and Viz is doing the transfer, one could expect the Sailor Moon treatment

There are no Bleach Blu Ray releases in Japan.

According to NJ_ on the ANN forums, Viz confirmed the transfer is being done here.

Yeah and it was confirmed during the panel that it's being authored at Subatomic Digital so it'll either look as good as Death Note (comparisons 1, 2 & 3) or as bad as Sailor Moon.

They also confirmed that the Kon's Corner omakes that are missing from the later DVDs will be included here so the real question now is if they will restore the early 16:9 episodes, that were cropped to 4:3 on the DVDs, back to their original format?

Admittedly, $150 isn't that horrendous of a price compared to their usual bullshit, but this is super-relevant.

Pretty much everything in the Aniplex catalogue is priced at $.50 per minute.  Go and look at prices on Rightstuf.   Apparently this is a "discount"  because it's $120 for 300 minutes instead of the usual $150.

You routinely get 3-4x (sometimes up to ten times) the value per dollar with blu-ray Anime from other publishers.  There's tons of good anime out there that you can buy and watch without having to support their bullshit prices. fuck  Aniplex.

I know about their bullshit prices, hence my whole post

BTW, in case you haven't heard, Japan is making a live-action FMA movie. Yea. Here's the cast:

JAPANESE PEOPLE PLAYING AS EUROPEAN PEOPLE? HOW OFFENSIVE.

Sorry if you don't get the reference.

Apparently Amazon decided to stop their price match refunding for all items (except for like televisions n such). So this means that if you buy an item and it becomes cheaper after it has shipped you SOL as they won't give you back the difference.

huh... funimation is running a vampire themed sale... with actual decent sale prices

gohastings is also running 30% off blu rays and 40% off dvds with code ninja (not great but also might have some stuff that is in stock that isn't usually in stock)
Anyone know why there are two funimation releases of season 2 of Rosario + Vampire? I can't find any differences between them asides from box art?

Ok, I need around $15 to get over the free shipping threshold to get my vampiress series. Don't want to get vampire bund since there's a blu-ray version out. Thoughts on anything in there for about that amount? I watched Trinity Blood a long time ago and remember it being interesting but nothing great. Never seen Moonphase. Hellsing seems pretty expensive to collect so pass there.

You probably shouldn't advocate either on this forum,,but I do agree with you.
Sorry, I should have been more clear. If there isn't a legal option and your ONLY alternatives to watch something are A. Bootlegs or B. Torrenting you should torrent. There is no good reason to buy a bootleg copy of something, you're just paying people to steal for you. At least with torrenting they are (unlikely) profiting from their theft. I'm not advocating either, I'm just pointing out there is a "lesser evil."

No one is actively advocating theft here.

That said, it is worth noting that there is currently no legal option for acquiring and enjoying a high-definition version of the original Macross TV series, or most of its spin-offs and sequels in the U.S.

And I agree that purchasing bootlegs is not a viable or desirable alternative. Paying people to circumvent the law for you is only worthwhile if you are getting a superior product out of it. (which you WON'T get from most bootlegs)

So basically, we aren't advocating anything illegal. That said, it is remarkable how far fansubbing has come over the years. Make of that what you will.
