any longboarders (skateboard) here?

darkmere

CAGiversary!
just curious if anyone here longboards. i bought a used one last week and love it. handles the rough surfaces a lot better than my short boards.

I suck at skateboarding. I have no balance. Strangly I'm decent at snowboarding though.

i've seen some people carve a longboard on a hill like a snowboarder. they handle way better than regular skateboards too. you should check them out.

i found some links for anyone who might be curious/interested in longboarding, in particular sliding.

cool video of this past weekend's danger bay slide competition and downhill race...some of these slides are pretty incredible:

all these kids at school are rockin these hella ugly small planks.

like, theyre about twice the size of a freakin shoe,

but they put longboard trucks, wheels, and prolly sum riser pads on it.

I dont kno if dat's sum kinda new trend or something,

but it looks real dumb.

but most likely, the terrain at school is hella rough,

so ppl with skateboards usually rock longboard wheels on them

so most ppl are more interested in riding than doing tricks.

I havent been into skating for a long ass time tho,

all becoz I aint got the shoes. I buy too many non-skate shoes

(I bought a new pair today!)

those small planks are slalom boards...kind of a niche of their own, but closer related to longboarding than street skating. i've seen some guys tear it up on those things, don't know how they do it.

i longboarded for a long time on a home built baltic birch with purple heart on the sides - steamed it real nice like - strapped some randal 2 racing trucks and china bones with krypto wheels and it was fuckin bitchin'.

in highschool i used to bomb hills all the time - and had my friend crack the whip with his ford taurus - the fastest i got skitchin behind his car was 65mph.

but then, one fateful day i was skitchin behind a car down a hill, and passed it - hit a pot hole, fell and tore all the skin off my arms and hips.

so now i don't longboard as much - occasionally i'll taker out for a small incline and carve it up but not so much the big stuff :D

I want a longboard, thanks for reminding me. I could never skateboard for shit but I'd totally put some time into a longboard. They cost around $100 though don't they?

i bought mine used (1 year, light use) for about $100. if you can find a longboard scene where you live you can probably find a good deal. i'd say new boards start around $150ish and go up from there. they're fun man...just got back from a cruise around the seawall.
