Anyone else pick up SMT: devil survivor 2?

Thinking of getting it. Couldn't get into the first one, but that's mostly because I didn't want to play hand helds at the time. It's been getting great reviews though.
 
got it today via gamefly to keep for 22.49 (24 after tax) then i used my 5 buck coupon for being a member for 3+ months knocked it down to 19

probally try to play it later tonight but dont know if i want to really get into it since im just coming off 2 major handheld games

2 weeks back finished Luminous Arc 2 at 33 hours just to find out you need to replay it over and over to unlock everything im sorry but i find it boring fighting LEVEL 1 MONSTERS with LEVEL 45 people (since your levels carry over)

MAJOR HEADS UP PLAY PART 1 before PART 2 OR you will never want to play part 1 (part 1 just looks and plays awful compair to part 2 )



and just last night got done with

Fossil fighter champion (main game is VERY EASY) Post game is a nightmare
i got though the main game in 25 hours with major grinding trying to find the dinos i wanted .... noone could even put a scratch on any of my dinos on the main playthough since i had them LEVEL 15 to 18 and biggest IE in the main game was 14 i think ...

now post game your only allowed to bring in certain dinos and first rd all 3 AI dinos are LEVEL 20 meaning massive massive grinding


so after doing a 33 hour and a 25 hour game do i really want to play another 30+ game this soon..... LOL



EDIT Played and hour and hopefully it gets better later and its not as hard... so far finding it almost 100% like the first part... Glad i only paid 19 for it.. I dont know if i would pay 30 for the game since its almost just like the first one... and hopefully its easier then the first one ... DAY 1 and 2 was a cakewalk on the first one but DAY 3 was INSANE and i never got past DAY 3 on the first one

I got it, I put SO much time into the first one, beating it with all endings. I'm VERY much looking forward to this one. Now, just to find time to play....have a massive Vita backlog and still have to get thru Tales of the Abyss
 
Amazon just shipped my order today. The first Devil Survivor was the best RPG in the last five years, so buying this one was a no-brainer.
 
did they Jack up the AI in this game or did i just been playing easy rpg games.


Day 1 was a cakewalk

Day 2 im getting slaughtered then again maybe cause i only have 8 creatures instead of the 24 i can hold.. i go into free battle my people are like level 8 to 11 the monsters are level 7 to 15 and this is like 900 on day 2.

so you cant grind cause in free battle they even overpower you so all i can do i try to bring in more monsters and see if i can grind somehow on this 900 free battle before moviing on big time
 
i forgot how to play it i made the game super hard by tossing in all the upgrades to my hp (never upped the ST. or magic) so i deleted my save file and restarted over if you put your upgrades in st. and magic the game is easier :)
 
I'm on day 3 and the game definitely seems more difficult than the first. Was there a compendium in the first one? I dont remember.
 
Nah, they added the compendium to both this and Overclocked since lots of people complained about its absence. How's the Fate system?
 
once you get MOW DOWN the game becomes very easy well at least where im at going into day 3 level 20

i have mow down one of my monsters also has the spell the 2nd one i have as a major heal spell..

mow down cost 18hp off your life and hits all 3 ais ... cast is 3 or 4 times and then use the 2nd monster to do a major heal .. repeat repeat repeat

Yes, it's easier with Devil's Speed and Flight though. It's not as bad as the first game.
 
day 8 27 hours in.. had to go to gamefaqs to get help on what monsters to bring into battle..

level 58 though still have to grind to get the level 60 creatures i need

will i do a new game +

ummmm doubtful i dont know if want to put another 30 hours into a game you beat once and it was a major pain in the ass getting though day 6 and 7..


I would have to say this game was 50 to 60% easier then part 1 .. i gave up on part one on day 3 and never went back.. at least i can say i beat this one...


so for those looking at getting it ... your looking at

SPOLIERS HERE AT THE END OF DAY 6 YOU HAVE TO PICK ONE OF 3 Teams to go

so im guessing if you want to see the endings your going to have to replay it at least 3 times (not to mention how many times you need to play to to see each persons ending )


your looking at a min of 25 to 35 hours each time though (probally last on the 2nd and 3rd walkthough)

at least 50 to 60 hours
 
WOO Just beat it the first time

Total play time 32 hours ( had to grind for 3 hours to just beat the final boss)


only got 100 pts to carry over.. dont know if i want to play it again
 
awesome stuff. i picked it up, of course, but haven't started. finally knocking radiant historia off my backlog. devil survivor was one of the best srpgs in a loooooong time. can't wait for the second and eager to see the difficulty.

to answer the 'have i only been playing easy rpgs lately', the answer is: unfortunately that seems to be 90% of what they make now :(

2nd playthough 11 hours nothing could touch me got to level 96

very boring after the 2nd playthough i highly doubt i will play it a 3rd time.. the different endings are not worth it to me... hopefully can dump it somewhere for the mid 20s price range


BUT IF YOU didnt play it yet.. GET IT FUN GAME that will last you at least 30 hours

...Wow, how much did you grind? 76 I hit in my second playthrough when I dropped the Exp cap and had my MC killing as many enemies by himself as possible.

You're right, though. The game does get boring after the first playthrough because the difficulty goes out the window.

on the 2nd playthough.. There is a new boss that shows up on tuesday (the undead dude) You can play keepaway from him and just kill off all the other demons (he keeps respawning them) I think i went from level 21 to level 75 before leaving (never did beat him) only took like 30 mins or so
 
on the 3rd playthough

i think its getting time to dump it after this playthough


around 7 hours into the 3rd playthough on the final day and all i got to say is

its going to take you at least 3 to 5 playthough to get everything

why do i say this

1 there is 5 different endings

AO ending
Law ending
Netural ending 2 paths
evil ending

BUT The big thing here is the SIDE BOSSES

Undead dude what is like level 75 on day 3 what your going to need a full 4 team party to kill (was easy to kill 3rd walkthough could not beat it on my 2nd time)

Lithe i think here name is on day 4 what is a cake walk compair to all the other subbosses (killed 2nd walkthough)

some giant fly looking monster level i think 96 what your going to need a full 4 team party and be very very strong ( Was VERY LUCKY TO KILL ON my 3rd time )

ALICE i think on day 6 LEVEL 99 STRONG AGAINST ALL BESIDES PHY but the other demons she brings is NULL against PHY and ready for this some of the demons she brings with her ARE THE OTHER SIDE BOSSES I cant even put a dint in her on my 3rd playthough


might toss it up on ebay tomorrow and see if i can get some cash for it after my 3rd playthough.. dont know if i want to play it a 4th freaking time


ALSO One of the GOALS you can earn is NO FREE BATTLES and these SUB BOSSES ARE FREE BATTLES so you can not fight them if your going for the NO FREE BATTLE MEDAL


the game is so worth 30 .. i have put around 50 hours into the game...

it will probally take you at least 70 to 80 hours to get all of the demons since the final one is the devil who is i think level 99 and you need to beat the side bosses to make him
 
Read this thread and picked up the first game on the 3ds. Loving it so far.


Anyone know if there is a plan to bring Devil Survivor 2 to the 3ds?
