Anyone listen to electronic music?

I assume most of you are talking about deadmau5's interview with Rolling Stone, the one where he's on the cover. I agree he may come across as a bit of a pretentious a-hole, but at least some of the stuff he says is credible and plausible, especially since he's been in the game for about seven years and is constantly addicted to audio engineering shit. Would the viewpoint change if someone like Armin or Tiesto said the same thing in the interview?

That being said, check out my Electro House mix that I made on my Traktor S4 a while back. I'd appreciate any sort of feedback here, on youtube, or on my facebook fanpage. Helps keeps my motivation up. May get around to posting some original tracks I made as well. Cheers CAG.

It's not just one interview. It's comment after comment after comment. And hey, you can have your opinion, but the guys states opinions like it's the way the genre should be no matter what anyone else likes/does/thinks.

I agree here. His comments aren't just a one time instance. He does this over and over and over now. Yes, he's good, but he's not a God of the genre. I enjoy his tracks personally, but I think his attitude is pretty shitty.

tcrash you lucky bastard. I'd love to see some Squarepusher live. As for my opinion on Deadmau5 (since we seem to be doing that) I think he comes off like a prick and maybe he is or isn't. I just don't follow enough of him aside from his music but I wasn't too upset at all when he got punched. As for his music. Don't really care for it. I'll take it in short bursts from my friends but I wouldn't ever buy his albums. Would I go see him live? Totally.
Surprised no one mentioned Justice.

Their first album falls under the genre. Their second album is oddly enough electronic music infused with 70's arena classic rock. So the second album is not for everyone (although I love it).
For a Christian act they are pretty darn good.

But they are pretty fucking Christian. That's going to cost you in the techno world.
HUGE Electronic Music fan. Ive been since mid 90's. Depeche Mode is easily my favorite band, for many reasons, and one of the most influential bands to EDM of all time.

The reason why ive gravitated to loving Electronic music over any other genre is because it evolves much faster than most others (in a good way or bad way (dubstep IMO :shame:), compared to other genres that stay stagnate or offer nothing new. Mostly why i haven't liked most American music in years.

There's TONS of sub genres in Electronic music and i've heard most of them and i've always found something i like or don't. I still kina prefer a "Rock / Band" element to it, which is still hard to come by.

2 of my favorite current bands are Pendulum and Celldweller for that reason. Electronic sound with in a "Rock" background, and a perfect example why i love EDM in the first place.

"Celldweller - Wish Upon A Black Star" just came out 4 days ago and i HIGHLY recommend it. :)

And Pendulum, who i've raved about on this board plenty of times before.

Dang now this is why I like the this genre. I always find some new track that catches my ears. Thanks for sharing these ones

In the past year to year and a half I've really got into Electronic Music....mainly a lot of trance stuff. Favorite is BT who just keeps blowing me away with every album. Really like what Celldweller is doing too. Armin is always a staple. I'm a fan of the vocal stuff...Nadia Ali...Jes are cool. Just started listening to Morgan Page as well.

Some of my everyday staples lately:

I had to stop listening to Armin after he went full State of Pop, with far too many vocals. Uplifting my ass. I'll still tune in to his annual live shows for specific producers though.

Yeah, Armin is definitely poppy. BT sometimes shifts that way but then does something like this recent release that blows me away:

Yeah, that doesn't sound like BT at all lol. They went through a period where everything had to have some vocals in it and just wasn't for me. Heard tomahawk on a few rotations and thought it was just ok.

Then you have tracks like Concrete Angel that I just fucking eat up until the breakdown, where I remember why I don't like vocals as much.

Aww yeah, this thread needed a bump!. :)

From all the big trance artist from years ago, (BT, Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin, etc), BT is till the one i don't hesitate to check out whatever new material he puts out. I collect all of his musical catalog, just not a big fan of those "Experimental" projects he does. Talking about "This Binary Universe" and his 2 recent albums he put out last month. I understand there not true BT albums, more of a side project, just not for me.

Speaking of Paul van Dyk, his last album that came out earlier in the year wasnt at all "Poppy". I just finally gave it a listen, had some really classic trance tracks in it:

Definitely recommend getting both artist albums for more like that. All do Pendulums albums REALLY jumped genres from album to album. They evolved from a drum and bass act to a full blown rock band. One of my favorite live bands ever, totally unique experience. Fusing Electronic music in a different direction, bands like Prodigy and Rammstein before them.

If your digging this Rock/Electronic taste, also check out Blue Stahli. Its borderline Industrial.

Some more tunes:

Cant wait for more tracks from Porter Robinson. Dont think he released a new EP, just one track:

Probably the only thing i like from Skrillex, his remixes. This one has a bit of a drumstep sound. Pleasing my Hip-Hop friends.

Justice is a Christian duo? Makes sense now, if you think of it. Nothing wrong with it do. There second album was a huge disappointment. Luckily, Nero filled that void left.

If trip-hop counts, I tend to listen a decent amount of Morcheeba and Portishead.

I completely forgot about creating this thread. I had no idea it would expand like this. Anyways, my favorite UK artist is Gammer (he usually does stuff with Dougal):

and my favorite USA artist is Skrillex (call it a cliche, but oh well):
