Would probably be better if I knew what they were saying but it's still nice to see.

Two videos up at IGN. Really nice videos in HD. Monster in the Attack video looks really nice. This game looks to be shaping up very well. I'm definetly going to pick this up now.

Trailer. Very good trailer. Cam footage but it's very watchable.

I didn't see a thread on this so here's one. Looks like Grandia to my eyes off hand. Gonintendo and a lot of the Kotaku and other blog style sites have this stuff disapear off the front page quickly so I've gathered a lot of the stuff I could find on this game and put it here.


plot:
Arc Rise Fantasia is set in the empire of Meridian. Creatures called "Contaminant Dragons" are causing a lot of trouble as they pass the Meridian in flocks. If one is killed, the resulting explosion poisons the local area. When the empire receives word that a massive horde has its sights on the capital of Diamant, it immediately sends out an army to fight them, including Bright, a cool and collected novice mercenary, and his friend Alse, the beloved prince and second in line for the throne. Bright is severely injured during the battle, but is saved by a girl named Ryphia, who has secrets in her past and possesses the power to control "ley squalls," naturally-occurring storms of magic that usually take the form of luminous rain.

Arc Rise Fantasia for Nintendo Wii was one of the most surprisingly good games I sampled during the entire convention. The graphics and music are adequate, but that is not what will grab you. It is the combat that sets this game apart from so many other RPG titles out there. By allocating AP points among team members, you have the freedom to focus on one or more characters at a time, creating awesome single-character combos and team special attacks with fantastic effects. Magic and special attacks are very pretty, and the use of distance and position to complicate attack combos and defense adds depth to the traditional turn-based experience. The release date is still not set, though it will come out some time in 2009 in Japan and North America with no confirmed European release.

the game looks awesome... definitely gonna get this!!
 
Yeah, I'm all for the good-looking anime girls but that's a little ridiculous. I may not be able to use that character when my wife's around. :)

I edited the OP to put that abundance of screen shots behind spoiler tags. Not because they are spoilers, but because this thread will hammer anyone without a fast internet connection ;).

In any case, I am very interested in this game - will definitely keep an eye on it.

Agreed. They need to go ahead and throw some clothes on those people when they come stateside!

At least give us some alternate costume options that aren't quite so skimpy. Alternate costumes are awesome anyway.

Like someone said before the battle system looks similar to Grandia, which is a very good thing. I always thought the Grandia series had the best turn-based system. Unless I hear it has some game-breaking glitch I'll be picking it up foo show.
 
Not sure how much of a tales rip off it is, I think its turn based, so i think its closer to a Grandia, or Eternal Sonata Rip-off.
 
I'm not seeing the grandia connection, but the new trailer looks great. I'm looking forward to it, I haven't been interested in anything for the Wii since tales.

Day one buy for me. Ha ha... I've never actually said that before.

I'm awaiting this more than any other upcoming Wii game and that's saying a lot considering Muramasa and Sports Resort (both of which I'm rabid over).

I like how all but one of them has no dialogue, and the one picture that has dialogue in it has such an incredibly generic statement that there's no way to tell the quality of the translation from it.

I think Ignition did that on purpose.
