Are Amazon promo codes applied to order lost when order cancelled?

CAGiversary!
I stupidly pre-ordered a game with no fixed release date and applied a promo code to knock off $10 (promo was for the FF:CC Crystal Bearers calendar f-up). Now I'd much rather use that promo on a game coming out soon, but I don't know what happens to the promo -- do I lose it for good or will it go back to my account / allow me to re-apply it to a new order?

Great, you were right. I was afraid to cancel in case I lost the promo, but it applied just fine to a new order. Thanks!

They aren't canceled if the timeframe you had to use them hasn't elapsed.

If it was good until 02/28/10 and you canceled an order with one on it, it should go back into your account. If it was only good until 12/31/09, and you canceled it today, no, it would be lost.

What about promo credits that an individual CSR issues as a form of compensation in some problem orders? The CSR would typically say in the follow-up email: "I would like to give you a $XX.00 promotional certificate...". They never state an expiration for those. So do they expire?
