Well, I just did a quick search and stumbled upon a notebook review site; http://www.notebookreview.com/price/default.asp?productFamilyID=450&display=priceDetail
There, they had a list of the most popular notebooks, and Sony Vaio S ranked 3rd, although an IBM greatly over-powered it in popularity. Doing a little more navigation, I found a Sony Vaio clearance here:
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INT...Name=cpu_Refurbished_Notebooks&Dept=computers
I looked through all of those notebooks, and I realize that even though I only got my feet wet, I did come across this very impressive notebook using a Pentium M - the best thing about it is that it's discounted nearly $1000 from $2500.

Other honorable mentions in case something is horrible wrong with that one ^:

I have not yet gone through any other notebooks that you mentioned, but already take a great fondness towards this one. Although I tkind of understood what the specifications were, can you please elaborate a little more on that one, and tell me if it is right for me? And also, why are these so deeply discounted? Are they previous years' models?
Unless I can get this same notebook duplicated quality wise, and specification-wise by another brand for a cheaper price, or if it is totally different from what I'm looking for, I think I may have found a winner. And also, comment on the others that I picked out ($1900 and $2000 for what looks to be the same specificantions as this $1500 I found, only these are S series, and if they would be better for me - but for a 33% price increase, they should be pretty good upgrades).
Also, after a little browsing on notebookreviews, it seems that very many notebooks are running on 256MB RAM, as opposed to the 512MB min. that you recommended - even the popular choice IBM notebook's default option is 256MB, and most of these cost at least $1100. And plus the Sony name IMO is is very respectable, and known for high-quality products, which is why as it stands now, I'm really liking that notebook I chose.
Let me know,
Thanks.
