Looking for a good deal on a sound system for my car. Not too knowledgable about this stuff, and don't need top of the line, just looking for the best bang for my buck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

What do you have now? I remember switching '88 factory speakers in the back of a car with some $20 speakers at Wal-Mart (via '05) and it sounded way better, but still not really good ;)

The factory system that came in my 99 Ford Escort 2 door whatever. Lame.

Go for a headunit. A headunit will make your stock speakers sound a lot better for cheaper. What type of car do you have? Also, I don't think you should invest a lot on subs/amp. I bought a $1000 system, then decided to sell it a few months later (didnt really lose money, only on install) because I bought everything used on craigslist. Use craigslist to buy stuff, and use crutchfield.com to research.

And use http://www.lawguru.com/ for free legal advice after you get busted for buying a hot stereo off craigs list.
